The Australian Independence War began in November. Australians had been clamoring for independence from Indonesia since the country was conquered as a result of the Indonesia-Australia War.
The first battles of the war in New South Wales were unsuccessful. But after the Agreement for the Independence of Australia between Indonesia and Australia, Indonesia agreed to release New South Wales and Victoria, so Australia was reestablished.
