Danny first joined eRepublik on December 20th 2007. He is a politician and a journalist and is currently serving as a congressman for Flashback Sweden. Earlier merits include three months as mayor of Orebro and running the state sponsored lottery Sverigelotteriet. Danny is part of the editorial staff of Newsflash, Flashback Sweden’s party newspaper and has been a reporter for DDB – eRepublik International News (http://www.eRepubliknews.com).
Politics
Danny has been a member of eRepublik since December 20th 2007, when he registered through the Swedish forum Flashback. Spending his first few months in the game in silence, he applied for a seat in February, during Carradine’s time as party leader for FBS. In the March 1st general elections Danny for the first time was allowed entrance in the halls of power.
The same month he was also elected mayor of Sweden’s second largest region, Orebro. He held this position for the months, until he gave up the position. Danny cited the lack of mayoral duties as the reason for stepping down.
An active congressman, Danny discussed Sweden’s future lively during his first months in office. However, as time passed, he felt his interest in eRepublik slowly wear off, mainly due to the lack of domestic political competition. After leaving the congress and spending nearly two months inactive, he returned to a Sweden with a much livelier political scene. This caused his interest to come back and he has since reclaimed his seat as a congressman.
In September 2008 he ran for party president alongside the current leader Flammbar. He received 37 votes, which couldn’t compete with Flammbar’s 150.
Economy
On January 20th Danny created the first organized regular lottery in Sweden (and possible the world, but there’s no confirmation on this) called Sverigelotteriet. The lottery became popular immediately and had around 30 players per week at its peak. The premise of the lottery was basic: it cost 5 SEK to enter the weekly draw, after which you chose a number between 1 and 70. Which number won was decided by a real Swedish weekly lottery.
Carradine, who was Sweden’s president at the time, saw possibilities in having a national lottery and after some negotiations, Sweden was an official sponsor of Sverigelotteriet. With an increased prize sum, the lottery gained a larger player base.
After around nice weeks of running the lottery, Danny felt it had become more of a job than a hobby. He announced that he was resigning his ownership of the organization and put it in the hands of Tor Hammer. Unfortunately, Sverigelotteriet fell into inactivity shortly thereafter.
Media
Danny has always been interested in the media section of eRepublik, but it took a long while before he became a writer himself. At first, the published articles with random personal ideas and thoughts on a very irregular basis. His first real newspaper was Kongressledamoten (The congressman, http://www.eRepublik.com/company-74411.html ) where two lengthier articles were published.
In early August Danny became part of the editorial staff of DDB – eRepublik International News (http://www.eRepubliknews.com). The first article spawned by Danny was a summary of recent Swedish events, headlined with the exclusion of a politician from congress.
His most notable article as a DDB reporter was an in-depth article raising question to the Irish president’s motifs when he declared Ireland a low tax country. The article (http://www.eRepubliknews.com/content/vi ... 8/lang,en/) received limited attention in international press.
Danny is currently a part of Newsflash, which is a newspaper owned by Flashback Sweden.
