eRepublik Rising Beta Is Open!

Published 25 June 2010

Dear citizens of the New World,

As promised, starting from yesterday, the public beta version of eRepublik Rising is available for everybody! We know that you've already read tens, if not hundreds of articles about Rising, but you're probably itching to try for yourself how the new modules are like.

Because the official launch is approaching fast, we also have a special offer for you: until the new modules will be live, you receive 25% more Gold for the same price, when you purchase Gold. The biggest Gold Pack is now worth 175 Gold instead of 140, for the same price! You should hurry and take advantage of this limited time offer, before we return to the original offers! And remember, all the Gold that you'll have when we'll move to the new version will remain valid.

Back to Rising beta, all you need to do is to open this page and fill-in your citizen details. After you'll get used to the new interface and graphics, you'll notice that you have 40 Gold in your account. This is a gift from us, so that you'll be able to explore freely the new modules. Spend them wisely! Also, do you remember that in one of our previous Insiders we explained how the migrations will take place and that citizens will be able to choose how they migrate their attributes and so on? Well, on the public beta server the migrations are automatic as we distribute everything evenly. This way you will be able to learn the specific advantages and disadvantages, preparing you for the day when you'll have to choose and take decisions, for your character or for your companies.

On the live everyday server you will notice that you have migrations panel in your citizen profile and, for General Managers, in company homepage. This is how you will migrate your attributes when the time will come. This panel will be live for at least one week, and during this time you are free to modify anything you want, make your mind and change your mind as often as you want. But when the migrations will be done, in about one week as we said, you won't be able to modify anything! You will enter the new version with the customization you'll have in that final day, which we'll announce soon. So, playing with the beta version is a good opportunity to decide how to migrate on the live server and you should be careful with this because it will have a great impact on your future e-life.

Must be said that the beta server might be slow, or even break down. Actually, we want it to break down, because this is the only way we can discover the weak spots. So please, judge the beta version as a beta version. The final product will be much more faster and reliable. Also, we would like to make sure that everybody understands something very important: what happens on beta, stays on beta! When we will move to the new version the beta server will be erased, together with all its history, actions, etc. Meanwhile don't forget about the daily regular eRepublik, because the official server will be the only one taken into consideration! Beta is just for having fun, discovering bugs and providing feedback. That being said, see you on beta

Kind regards,
The eRepublik Team

Say Hello to eRepublik Rising Beta

Published 22 June 2010

Dear citizens,

You know what we are going to talk about, don't you? :D Yes, it's about the exciting new version of eRepublik which brings on the table so much improved economic and military modules. We hereby give the official name “eRepublik Rising” to the new version. It's not “V2”, because out of the four major V1 modules, only two of them are modified. Of course we have plans for political and media modules as well, but about this with another occasion.

Rising is opening its gates this Thursday offering unrestricted enter in the New World, for everybody. We mean, the new New World :) The public beta servers will be open for at least one week. But there are a couple of things which you need to consider, so please pay attention for a couple of minutes.

First of all, you will be able to reach Rising Beta by typing www.beta.erepublik.com in your browser and then fill in your normal citizen log-in details. We would like to emphasize the word “beta”, because this is what we have here: a beta version, an intermediate stage before the final shaped product. This means that there might and most likely will occur changes before the official launch of Rising. Don't worry if the damage inflicted a particular weapon seems odd, or if your work productivity seems unnatural, or if a product is way too expensive. This is what we are working on, the balancing of formulas. Remember, no value seen in beta is final!

On the other hand, being a beta version means that you might encounter some bugs, issues, server-related problems and so on. In the first days it's even possible to have the servers temporary down for one to two hours, or up to 12-24 hours. That's when you can help us to build a better world for you. If you do spot such bugs and issues, we would appreciate if you'd let us know by sending an e-mail to beta@erepublik.com, explaining the problem as detailed as you can. Or maybe you would just like to provide some feedback? We would be glad to hear it too! Just send an e-mail to the same address, but put “Feedback” in the e-mail subject. We are confident that based upon your feedback and e-mails, the final product will be better and more enjoyable.

Now, remember that in the last Insider we said to don't forget about regular eRepublik while playing beta?

When we'll launch the official Rising, the only server taken into consideration for migrations will be the current V1, so don't forget to work, train, etc. All skills gains, money, actions, articles, migration decisions, absolutely everything you do on beta server will be erased. It's like having a dream and then in the morning realize that you woke up to reality.. while the dream realm slowly fades away. Well, the beta server is like such a dream and has only one purpose: to improve the reliability and prepare the official launch. So spread your wings in beta and put into practice any crazy idea you might have, do anything you want because there are no risks!

In a future Insider we will offer details about the launch of the new modules: when it will take place, how the launch process will unwrap, how long it will take, and so on.

PS: Update with regards to migrations Insider.

In the new economic module, all raw materials companies will have just one "quality". This means that a current Q5 company will be migrated in the same way as a current Q1 company. But don't worry, you will not lose your investments. When the migrations will take place we'll offer you all the details.

These being said,

See you in eRepublik Rising!

Migrations and Beta Testing

Published 10 June 2010

Dear citizens,

This is the last Insider dedicated to the new economic and military modules. More precisely we are going to cover migrations. We are sure that many of you are wondering what is going to turn into what, and now we are able to clarify this.

Firstly, it must be said that there are two types of migrations: manual ones (you decide how to migrate) and automatic ones. For example, if you don't migrate your economic skills, they will eventually be migrated automatically, according to some default rules. But It won't be like “choose right now, or you lose this opportunity” :) The period within you can set or change your migrations will be pretty long, about two weeks.

1. Economic skills.

Let's start with the economic skills. To be crystal clear, we will give you some examples: Suppose that citizen John Doe has a manufacturing skill of 4, a land skill of 4 and a construction skill of 16. So he has 24 points in total. In the new module the professional skills will be different as well as the number of points you can gain. So in order to keep you current progress in V1 in proportion to the new module we take into account the number of days John Doe worked to gain those 24 points. In the new module you will receive the equivalent to the days worked as skill points. You can then decide to distribute those points onto your new skills. For example, if the 24 "old" points equal 100 "new" points, you can decide to spend 80% of them on one skill and 20% on another; or in whatever combination you prefer.

2. Military strength.

The same goes for military strength. The current strength corresponds to a certain number of days John Doe trained in eRepublik. We will convert these into the number of days he trained in the new module and you get military skill points that you can distribute on the new weapon skills. The booster benefits will not be lost but will be considered as extra training days. As for the total damage, it will be imported as it is but please keep this in mind: the damage you deal in PvP fights gains you weapon skill points, while defeating enemies gains your rank points.

3. Companies.

When we launch the new modules, each existing company will have the opportunity to distribute a certain number of Customization Points. These points are granted according to the company's quality, and from there on it is your decision how to customize your products.

- Weapon companies will be migrated into Rifle companies;

- Gift companies will be migrated into Helicopter companies;

- Diamond companies will be migrated into Titanium companies;

- Wood companies will be migrated into Stone companies;

- All other companies remain what they are right now.

There will be two industries with no factories at the moment of the launch: tanks and artillery. You have to create those companies from scratch.

4. Stocks.

All current stocks will be migrated into the new module, excluding gifts. All gifts have to be consumed before the launch of the new modules, or they will be lost. This is true only for gifts in inventories; the gift stocks will be converted into helicopter stocks taking into consideration a parity (e.g. 10 gifts = 1 helicopter). The rest of the stocks, food, houses, etc, will be migrated either manually or automatically.

For instance, if you have a weapon company with 2.000 weapons in stock, in the new module we will ask you to migrate your company. After you do that and define the characteristics of the rifles that your new company will produce, the 2.000 units in stock are turned into 2.000 new rifles. Of course, those rifles will have the customization identical to your company's customization. All other stocks are migrated the same way.

As for products in your inventory, what you'll have in there will be migrated according to some default rules which distribute the customization points more or less equally to all components. For example, a Q5 house will turn into a house with certain attributes, a Q4 weapon into a rifle with some default attributes, and so on. The existing hospitals and defense systems in the launch day will also be migrated.

5. Regions.

As you know, some regions of the New World are very important because they are high in resources. In the new modules this remains valid, as current regions retain their importance. Oil, grain and iron regions are unaffected. The current regions with high diamond resources will be migrated into high Titanium regions, and the current Wood regions will be turned into Stone regions.

Ok, that's it about migrations. When the time is appropriate, the economic formulas will be published in our wiki too. In spite of the fact that we asked them to keep it secret, most of you already know that we have been in the private beta testing phase since last week. Keep in mind that formulas from private beta are not final. We promised that the new modules will be playable this spring, didn't we? :D

Oh well, we understand that our testers wanted to share their exciting experience with everybody. But don't be jealous of them, as we have a very important announcement to make : private beta testing will soon end and we will move on into the public beta phase, the last one before the official launch! Yes, you read it correctly: in about one week everybody will be able to log onto the beta server and play with the new modules until the launch! By playing with the beta version you will be able to get a better grip on the new modules, but please don't forget about the “regular” eRepublik meanwhile. The migrations will only take the official server into consideration, so your gains and history while playing in beta will vanish.

National Monuments of June

Published 4 June 2010

Dear citizens,

Tomorrow we'll have once again presidential elections in eRepublik, and we would like to wish good luck to all candidates. We know that all of you are eagerly waiting details about the new modules; we can tell you that next week we'll publish the Insider dedicated to migrations, explaining what turns into what. In the same Insider we will also make a very important announcement.

But for now let's take a moment to admire the National Monuments received for the past month's activities. Seventeen countries fulfilled one national goal, eleven fulfilled two national goals and just two countries fulfilled all national goals: Denmark and Hungary. Congratulation to all 30 countries!

Now, let's see some interesting National Goals, fulfilled or not. Let's start with the hottest topic of the past month, the Liaoning affair. If this name tells you nothing, you might have heard about “Lion King”, as it is nicknamed. The United States had the ambitious national goal of conquering this important region, and together with their allies they really tried hard to pursue it. In the end, Serbia secured Liaoning, but we are sure that China will set the same national goal of regaining their homeland again and again, until victory.

As all their resources had been thrown into securing Liaoning, Serbia hasn't accomplished any of its national goals. Same story for Romania, which was unable to conquer Central Hungary or to increase its population and GDP. With the heat of Liaoning so close to their borders, Russia sacrificed its own goals, like the conquering of Finland and helped with the war efforts in Asia. Their strategically important geographic location proved to be very important.

So, Romania wanted to get Central Hungary, Russia wanted to erase Finland from the map, Finland wanted to bring the battles on Russian soil and the USA wanted to conquer the Serbian-owned region of Liaoning. All these attempts have been unsuccessfully in the end, but brought fun in the New World. Poland aimed to keep its regions, and fulfilled that. Spain also aimed to keep under control the currently owned regions and managed to do so. This delays furthermore the French dream of reunification, as Rhone-Alps and Aquitaine are still occupied. We'd say that China and France, these are the places to look upon.

Once again, good luck to all candidates tomorrow, and we hope to have even more national goals accomplished next month.

Regards,
The eRepublik team
