Experience points system in V1

Published on 27 September 2008 - Day 312 of the New World

Dear citizens,

Experience points (EP) represent the knowledge level a citizen reaches in Erepublik. One experience point is received each time you train, work or eat. So a regular user can receive three experience points per day with minimal effort. Additionally, EP will be received because of some special pages:

  • when you upload your first avatar;
  • when you get your first job;
  • when you fight;
  • when you vote;
  • when you create a company;
  • for every quality upgrade;
  • when you get elected congressman;
  • when you create a party;
  • for every party election you win;
  • for becoming a country president.

After reaching a certain experience level, several features will be available for your citizen, like:

  • fighting;
  • voting;
  • creating your own newspaper;
  • creating companies;
  • becoming a party member/president, member of Congress or country president.

Here is the experience points table for in-depth information.

In order for you to receive the gold bonus from an invitation sent, the citizen you invited to Erepublik must reach the sixth level (at the same time he also gets Icon - Gold.gif 5 GOLD).

Citizens from the Beta version will receive experience points when V1 is launched based on:

  • previously having a job;
  • number of trained days;
  • number of worked days;
  • number of fights;
  • number of votes they have expressed;
  • number of elections won (party, Congress, presidential).

We use this occasion to announce that the tunning for the servers was completed and everything works fine now (phew!). Thank you for your support.

The Erepublik team.

Human resources in V1

Published on 25 September 2008 - Day 310 of the New World

Dear citizens,

The job market will be completely changed in V1. General Managers will now be able to post their offers on the market by selecting the salary that they are willing to pay to the new employees and the minimum skill level required for that specific position.

Citizens that are looking for a job will only have to apply for the position and if they fulfil the skill requirements they automatically become an employee.

These modifications will help the new citizen to start their economical career faster and it will be much easier for them to find their first job in Erepublik. Also, it should make company owners' life a lot easier.

V1 resources

We received interesting feedback from you concerning the country resources presented in the last Insider article. We have already made small modifications based on that feedback. Don’t forget that this is a work in progress that we will fine-tune. Also, keep in mind that we will add new types of raw materials after the V1 launch and that the productivity of the manufacturing and construction industries will have an equal value (1) in every region of Erepublik. So these industries will depend only on the human factor.

Citizens skill transfer to V1

Considering your suggestions about the skills transfer to V1, the manufacturing and construction skills of the citizens from the Beta version will take into consideration the sum of the working days in the industries from these two domains. This way, each day that citizens worked in Erepublik will be added to their skill level and nothing will be lost. For example, if you have a 3.2 skill in Weapons and 2.9 in food, as you have worked 35 days, your manufacturing skill will be 3.95.

We appreciate your help and feedback as always

Region productivities in V1

Published on 23 September 2008 - Day 308 of the New World

Dear Citizens,

The raw materials in V1 will be:

  • Grain - needed to create food units
  • Oil - needed to create moving tickets
  • Diamonds - needed to create gifts
  • Iron - needed to create weapons
  • Wood - needed to create buildings (hospitals, houses and a new secret building)

The food, moving, gifts and weapons industries will be considered the manufacturing domain. In the productivity formula, we have a variable called 'region productivity' which is now 1 for every region. For the raw materials industry, this value will be 0.1, 1 or 2.

In order to get the geo-political and economical environment in the New World closer to reality, we have divided the raw materials per Erepublik regions, keeping as close as possible a connection with real life natural resources.

For example: In the Icon-Italy.png Italian regions you won't find diamonds, so the region productivity value for diamond companies will be 0.1 in all its regions. However, in Icon-South Africa.png South Africa, there will be a couple of regions where the region productivity will be 2. Needless to say, building a diamond company in Italy wouldn’t be a very good idea.

The main benefit of the resources industries will be that a new strategic element will be added to the Erepublik regions.

The values for the different regions’ productivities can be found in this table.

Best regards,

The Erepublik Team

Erepublik V1 launch date and politics in the new version

Published on 17 September 2008 - Day 302 of the New World

Dear Citizens,

The V1 launch date will be between the 1st and the 15th of October

As Aryamehr predicted in his article Version 1 will be out... (he is very close): V1 will be launched during the first half of October. With this announcement, we have to close the contest on the forum and then when the exact launch day is made public, the winners will gather their prizes.

We will continue to regularly present the changes that will be available in V1 and in this article you will find out more details about the political module.

Congressional elections

The members of each congress will be able to propose and vote for several types of laws in V1 (see more details). In order to have more responsible members in this position, the congressional elections module will be completely changed. Therefore, we will introduce the uninominal electoral system, where each Citizen will vote for a candidate and not for the party as it is in the Beta. The candidates will still be proposed by the party presidents, but they better choose carefully if they want to form a government that can pass laws.

Country presidents

The country presidents will have the possibility to:

  • Write a message to the new Citizens in their country. This will be the first private message that the newborn Citizens will get in their Inbox.
  • Buy hospitals and a new top-secret type of building (we like keeping a few things secret - makes us feel like Apple). Before proposing this acquisition to congress, the president will be able to select the region where the new buildings go.
  • Sign Mutual protection pact - To start an MPP will cost gold from the treasury of both countries and each MPP signed will be valid only for one month, starting from the moment it is accepted by congress.
  • Declare war and propose peace - but no nuclear red button yet.
  • Stop trading with another country (economical war), kind of like the US embargo on Cuba.

All of these presidential proposals will need a majority of votes in congress in order to be approved.

Another feature that was requested by Citizens, and that will be introduced in V1, is the possibility for the party presidents to select their candidate for the presidential seat. Only the presidential candidates of the top 5 parties in a country will enter the race.

Last elections for mayors

On the 20th of September, we will have the last elections for mayors in Erepublik. This position will no longer exist in V1, however, we will reconsider having it back in Erepublik when more complex attributes can be assigned to the mayors. Also, the local elections will be replaced by the congressional elections.

New dates for the elections in V1

All three types of elections will take place monthly just like in the Beta, but the new dates will be:

This change was made in order to avoid having elections on dates like the 1st of January, when the admins have some problems with the hangover.

Best regards,

The Erepublik Team

Inventories and donating products in V1

Published on 12 September 2008 - Day 297 of the New World

Dear Citizens,

The changes that will take place in V1 by adding new products and resources will interact with the inventory of all Erepublik entities. Considering this, Citizens will be able to own only finished products (e.g.: food, weapons, moving tickets and so on) and Organizations can have raw materials as well as products in their inventories.

Citizens and Organizations will also be able to donate their products using a cool drag and drop system . This will allow users with a less military sense of adventure to develop a new type of career in Erepublik: merchant, one whose occupation is the purchase and retail sale of goods for profit. In order not to create a contradiction between the merchants and the import tax or export licenses, all the inventories will be limited to ten slots.

Product transfer from Beta to V1

As a special thank you to all the citizens who have helped us with the Beta, in the first month of V1 each one of you will have a bigger inventory with 50 slots. The items that are already in your inventory will be transferred from the Beta to V1 for each Citizen, depending on the quality of their products, in the following order:

  • house (houses will be a part of the Citizens and Organizations inventories in V1)
  • food units
  • weapons
  • moving tickets
  • gifts

Citizens who are born after the V1 launch will start directly with 10 inventory slots.

Changes to subscriptions in V1

A new change that will be available in V1, which was highly requested by Beta Citizens, is the option to receive in-game notifications of the latest discussions in the forum, or the comments in a specific newspaper article (rather than receiving them by email). Also, after you decide to subscribe to a newspaper, you will receive an in-game notice that will be presented in the same format as your Erepublik inbox for private messages. That is why under your avatar and wellness indicator in V1, you will find three different icons, representing the new messages in your Erepublik inbox, alerts, and notifications of your subscriptions. There will be another goodie available in V1 that will help Citizens stay connected to Erepublik, and we will need your help to develop it, but more details about this in a future article.

Thank you for your support,

The Erepublik Team

First screenshot of Erepublik V1

Published on 4 September 2008 - Day 289 of the New World

We are proud to present to you the first official Erepublik V1 screenshot that we can share at this stage: the logged in homepage.

Some Citizens started thinking that V1 is a myth, but today we have the first evidence that we are really working hard on bringing a completely new and special product that keeps all the beta’s historical data, plays on its strengths and fixes its main weaknesses. The page suffered over time some important changes during design and coding so we kept it secret until now. (Start hint) The majority of V1 is designed and programmed now and we will be sharing more and more of it over the next insider articles. This doesn’t mean V1 will be live tomorrow because there is still some programming, testing and corrections to do but it does mean it's close. Of course, based on the tester’s feedback, it is likely the homepage that finally goes live, will have some minor changes to the one you are seeing now (end hint).

Shouts

As you can see, in V1 Citizens will be able to send public messages to all their friends. Also, if you are a Member of Congress or President this will be a new tool that can be used to communicate your decisions and thoughts easier and faster to the Citizens.

To do

Yes, we will have again the missed automated “To do list” (not a final name) that we had in the initial version of the Beta. This will be a much improved version notifying you when a new feature is available (there will be stuff you can do once you reach a certain level only) and when you missed your daily tasks, it will be useful in particular for new users.

Contest

Along with this teaser, we started a contest on the Erepublik forum. All you have to do is to predict the launching day of V1. Special prizes ;) for the Citizens who will guess the correct day will be awarded.

The wars will be closed in BETA

Just like we stated in one of our last insider articles, the war module will be completely changed in V1 and we will present screenshots of it in future articles. In order to prepare for these modifications we have decided to stop the fighting in the BETA. So the wars which are now active and the new wars that will be declared from now on until the V1 launch, will not have any active battles.

Thank you for your support,

The Erepublik Team

1st of September General elections coverage – DEM denomination

Published on 2 September 2008 - Day 287 of the New World

Dear Citizens,

The voting polls of the 10th General Elections in Erepublik have closed a few hours ago. Here are the newly elected Presidents in each country:

Once again, Mapplna wins another round of elections in Austria, proving that women are at least as good as men in politics and that all Citizens can be good leaders.

The modifications of the Greek president were made after further analysis and count of the final votes. Also, in Turkey, onrche was permanently banned after breaking the 10 rules of Erepublik by using fake accounts to gather undeserved benefits. His place was taken by the runner-up Hufflepuff.

These elections brought two former presidents again to the public attention. We had a close election in the UK, where the former US president, Dishmcds ran against the UK veteran, KIA Sneak.

Congratulations to all winners and good luck in their new mandate!

Denomination for the DEM

After starting with the denomination in Icon-Turkey.png Turkey, we've decided that is necessary to have a denomination of the DEM (national currency of Icon-Germany.png Germany). The same rules applied to this action:

  • we've deleted 3 zeros from the DEM accounts
  • we've deleted the DEM offer sales from the monetary market
  • we've analyzed the accounts that did not respect the 4th Erepublik rule (enriching through an unjust method) and removed the money obtained in this way.

Regards,

The Erepublik Team
