CHAPTER ONE

Inception

In the beginning, there was only the Greylight. It pulsed and glowed with its both perfect and imperfect balance and imbalance, and there was nothing to upset its neutrality. The universe was a calm but boring place, and so from the infinite energy void that was the Greylight, Phædrus Lidox did appear.

In the first hours of the First Day of Lidox, there was nothing but the Greylight and Lidox, and Lidox was happy because all was well in the universe.

In the waning hours of the First Day, Lidox spoke and His words flowed through the Greylight. The Greylight pulsed and the World appeared. He spoke and gave himself the title Atadünya, "father of the World," and all was well. Fully tuckered, Lidox went down, laid His head upon the World, and slumbered.

When Lidox awoke on the Second Day, He was very lonely. He created the Peoples of the World and enjoyed their fellowship, for they respected Him and the laws of the Greylight. He spoke and gave himself the title Papagentes, "father of the Tribes," and all was well. He threw for His new children a welcoming party, and after a successful night of enjoying His new friends’ company, He laid His head down and did again slumber.

When Lidox awoke on the Third Day, He looked out upon His children and selected a number of them to be His most beloved children.

From the Pakistani tribe, Phædrus chose Dio Brando of the Crescent and Star. He took Dio aside and told him, "You will raise a fine and powerful people, and they will worship you as a God. With great wisdom and no surplus of mercy will you rule over your realm. You have my blessing to exert your will over the whole of Asia. Take its fertile soil and its blustery sand and build in your name a mighty empire."
From the Greek tribe, Phædrus chose Ikarti of the Green Cedar. He took Ikarti to His palace and said unto him, "You will be tested by many trials and tribulations. There will be those who curse my name and will curse yours, but know that they will fail. You have my blessing in dominion over the whole of Asia Minor. Take its quarrelsome people and rich resources and bring glory to our names through your actions."
From the Turkish tribe, Phædrus chose The Onrche. He met with The Onrche in a well-lit public place, as He did not trust The Onrche, and He spoke, saying, "Your name will be like poison on the lips of my followers. Your deeds will be known around my World and you will be scorned for them. But know that I am a merciful Atadünya. I forgive you for all the crimes you will commit against me and those who take my word as law."

And Phædrus, having chosen His most beloved children, did bestow upon each of them the title of "Paulipapagentes" which means "little father of the Tribes." With His tasks finished, He retired to His chambers and slept.

When Lidox awoke on the Fourth Day, war had erupted among His children. The Onrche, angry at what Phædrus had said to him, rallied other tribes—the Svenskar, the Españoles, the Români, and the Türkler—and led a revolt against Phædrus and His followers. But Phædrus was and is a merciful Papagentes, so He merely confused their tongues and spread the warmongering tribes to the four corners of the World.

His followers cheered for Phædrus when they realized the wise and merciful actions He took to protect them, and they were happy that they had chosen to respect Him and His laws. Phædrus too was happy, and He retreated back to the Greylight for a time to rest.
