His political career began with the entry into the Partido Nacional Democrata (PND). He spent his time in this party with little activity, but this quick passage yielded much learning. After 2 months of PND Jacques Rousseau moved to Partido Igualdade e Liberdade (PIL).
Jacques Rousseau ran for Congress in Brazil 4 times, twice by the former NDP (April 2010 and May 2010) and two by PIL (July 2010 and August 2010), being elected twice, once by the NDP (April 2010) and another by PIL (August 2010).
In his first stint in Congress, he attended the Citizenship Commission. Commission that it takes into consideration each application for citizenship.
In addition to his experience in Congress of Brazil, Jacques Rousseau served as Assistant in the Ministry of Finance in Brasil and had a brief stint as a Minister of the Government Doing Marcelo Braga.
Jacques Rousseau was a member of ABAI (Brazilian Agency for International Affairs). He served as Brazilian Ambassador in Argentina from August 2010 until December 2010. He also served as Brazilian Ambassador in USA, UK and Canada from April 2011 to May 2011.
