Piet Faassen created the South African Party on the 13th of March 2009. The South African Party gained more than 30 members just a month after it's creation bolstering it to the top 3 parties. The party also proved popular in the congress elections, gaining 6 seats out of the 7 politicians who ran.

Faassen was a presidential candidate in the May 5th Presidential elections due to a mistake from current party president, Zagarius. Despite his candidacy being caused by a mistake, and the SAP telling people to vote for BLF member Gabriel Borien instead, Piet Faassen received 20 votes, a show of the parties current popularity in South Africa.

Piet died sometime in summer 2009.
