Debate moved from bar

I've added a few templates which allow people to make nice, useful succession boxes, like the ones shown here and here. I'll be updating some of them and putting up documentation today (/tommorow after work), to clear anything up that I left confusing :P. I hope you find em useful :) -- John F Baker 21:27, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Quick question: the new templates - don't they have the same purpose as this one: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Template:Succession ? --Belea2008 08:19, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
Bah, you're partially right; Template:Succession box is basically Template:Succession - Sorry about that one. However, the Template:s-start (and similar ones) allow more complex formatting, box titles etc. Also allow multiple titles without the need for a new position-row in each :) - John F Baker 16:41, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
Can these be combined to make it simpler for all users? --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 16:22, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't see the above points earlier. They could be combined through some creativity, I think. I personally prefer the new-style ones, but tbh we could do away with that, and just keep the {s-start} & co. templates for complex charts & the new look.
Opinions on the newer template, compared to the old? Depending on opinion, I could also update the simple succession box template (old one) to look like the new one. - Icon-UK.png John F Baker Icon-South Africa.png talk/British Army librarian 16:04, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
I like the old one: simpler, without colors, not intrusive. Just my humble opinion! --Belea2008 09:46, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
I would leave both of them - old for history pages and the new one if someone wants to use it on other articles. This new one has more options. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 16:56, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
With the new one, we can do things like this. However, for the historical stuff, such as the days in history pages, we don't really need something like that, so keep the old one for the simple stuff? :D - Icon-UK.png John F Baker Icon-South Africa.png talk/British Army librarian 11:56, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
