The Open Voting Act

Information

This bill was approved by Parliament on 13th August 2008.
Skinny Bones Jones proposed this legislation, after he was frustrated time after time with "silent voters", who would vote in polls to oppose bills in parliament, but would not post explaining why they were against the proposals.

The Legislation

A voting hall board is to be made in congress.
No-one may post on that board unless it is starting a vote, closing a vote (clarifying it is passed/failed/void etc), or posting their vote.
This is a strict rule. No discussion in a vote thread.
To vote you have to post in that thread with your vote, you may also post to abstain if you wish.
{e.g. - I vote for option A) - Yes to the MPP}
All votes are allowed to be changed or cancelled, but have to be done so within the time limit of the vote. Any edited posts between when the time limit is up and when the votes are counted will be considered void.

An example of a proposal:

This vote is for XYZ. The discussion thread is here. The voting options are:

1: Yes
2: No
(3: Abstain?)

The vote requires a majority of A% of all votes cast to pass.

Vote changing is allowed.

The vote is open for B units of time, and will close at Z. At that point, this thread will be locked and votes counted.

To vote, simply write your name and your chosen option(s) as your reply. No further comment is necessary, if you attempt to discuss this your comment/vote will be deleted.
