Northenism ((Swe: Nordism)) is a relatively small religion but has roots in the frozen Nordic lands around the Baltic sea. The religion itself preaches for the North to unite as the God mother, Freya, wishes and meant for us, her children, the people of the North. It followers of Nordism preaches for a strong and friendly relations to anyone who wishes for help and Solidarity from the North and that always help the ones in need of help, as we have been blessed with the power to change the eWorld to the better and that we so shall do!

Beliefs

The beliefs of the Northenism is that we are all the Children of Mother Freya and the she meant us to be together and form a better world. But as we all had different fathers they became angry when they found out about Mother Freya´s Prophesy and they all decided to steal there children away from her and form them into there own visions and told there children that to never see there twins.

And as the many years past the children started growing and soon they where able to walk and speak and soon they started, thanks to there fathers teachings, to feel greed. As Mother Freya felt her children´s greed, she though about using there greed to unit them once more. First she formed the snowy lands of the north, creating mountains, lakes, forests and animals. But her children refused to share it with eachother, instead they took a part of the lands for themselves and formed there own Kingdoms.

And soon the nations started feeling "Nationality" and so Mother Freya though to use this new feeling to unite them once again, But this time she seeded down a flag to symbolise the new nation, but she only send one flag to the nation called "Denmark" In that hopes that her other Children would feel there mothers wish and unite under that flag, witch was later called "Dannebrogen" But once again Mother Freya´s plan backfired and the her other children just created there own flags, similar to the one she created. And her children said that those flags was just as holy as Dandebrogen.

All who follows Northenism is tough to know this Legend in and out and that Greed is what makes our holy Mother sad. For ever since the backfire with Dannebrog, the mother hasn't tried to unite her children again, she has instead send down powers to the ones who promises to work for Unity and Solidarity in the name of her. Those are blessed with powers without belief, the power to freeze anything the believer touches or to survive in the most cold climates ever known. As well she can grant a believer unnatural Strength, Endurance or even the ability to be immune to any kinds of diseases. All these powers are granted to the believers to make sure that his or hers enemies can never hinder the Mother´s Words from reaching her children's ears.

Mother Freya

Freya Mother Freya, The God Mother or The Earth-mother are just a few names that the Holy mother inhabits. Legends tells that she was born from two Wolfs, this might sound weird to unbelievers but the most used image of The Mother is when she has the tail and ears of a Wolf. After she was born she was raised by the wolfs in a land only made out of snow, and as she grew older she started feeling that this world was boring and lonely. She then, using her imagination created the eWorld. She created the first lands. She made sure it would be beautiful and full of life, the life she created should look a little like her self and they should have there own minds to create maintain by there own.

But as Freya grew older and soon she became a mature women, she soon felt the urge for a life-partner that she could share her world with. But she soon found out that the her partner was more filled with greed then love, so she abandoned him a few years after giving birth to his child. And then she decided to find a new partner, but sadly this partner was just as greedy. It would take five partners until she gave up on finding a partner and instead starting to place all her energy on her children. To make sure they will be better men and women then her partners where.

Freya is often symbolised as a beautiful women or girl, often with her Wolf ears and tail, but many paintings has chosen not to have them shown. Freya is also known for being loving and caring towards her children and the friends of her children, but anyone who dares to hurt her children will have to feel the power of her anger, as her children has all the same feelings as her, when she is angry, her children is angry as well.

Grass and Snow

Main article: Grass and Snow

Grass and Snow Grass and snow are parts of the holy world the God Mother created, she was born from snow and she created the grass. Snow is cold and strengthening for a true warrior and the grass are soft and beautiful, just as the Mother herself.

Category:Nordists|Nordists The believers of the Mother can see from the time they where born how there children shall become, is the child is born during winter when the snow lays heavy on the earth, the baby will become a strong warrior, or a grand scholar, as all the ones born during winter inhabits the same qualities as the mother herself, Strength and wisdom.

The ones born during Spring and Summer will become strong as well, but they will have a stronger wish to create then anyone else. They are born in the World that the Mother created and wishes to build on it further in any way possible.

The Mothers Teachings

Main article: The Mothers Teachings

Is the tome written by the a generally young scholar of the Mother, his name was Adam Maxe, a strong believer in the Mother and all her teachings. Most young believers has this book in hand as it tells of the Mother and her teachings in a way to easier understand them, as well as it tries to reach not just to the already believers, but also to the ones who might one day become believers.

The Mothers Love

Is the grand book of Northenism, the very first book about the faith and it is told in the Legends that it was written by the Mother Freya herself as she was still trying to unite her children under one banner.

Practices

Birth

When a child i born the father of the son or daughter must himself craft a medallion that will symbolise the child and its family. When the medallion if made it must be places in a pond or a small lake for the mother to be able to fill it with her power. And after a week the medallion shall be placed around the child's neck.

Rune stones

Every Northenists has there own special version of a rune stone, they symbolises there family-house and often also describes how there wealth is and what they have to offer to travellers who comes to them. The rune stones are often remake´d once a new generation takes over, the day when i child makes his or hers first rune stone is day of joy and happiness, as it then marks down that they are true in they eyes of the Mother and shall receive her blessings.

Rune stones are also used at Tombs and graves to show who lies berried there and what him or her have done in there life. Those rune stones shall be what the Mother later will determine how well the person has been in his or her life, the more helpful and unified he or her have been the better and grater blessing shall the dead one receive, the greatest blessing is to be honoured with privileged to live in the castle with Mother Freya and will then be able to watch down on his or hers family and help them stay safe from evil sprites. The worst a person can be judged to is to be reborn and then start all over again, though many believers think that they one day will chose to be reborn as the adventure of the earth often calls, even in the greatest of paradises there must be a growing need for more adventure.

Everyday

  • A rule of every Northenist is to never speak ill about a brother or sister behind there back, if you have a problem with them, then tell it to them.
  • And to never keep any greater secrets from you elders, the elders are old and wise, they can help you on anything.
  • Always respect the one who is older then you, especially the elders of the society, they have seen more, been active in more then you and are therefore wiser then you.
  • Respect travellers and unbelievers, they might not all have embraced the Mother but many of them are blind to the mothers truth and it is nothing of there own fault or chose. We have all been forced from The Mothers hands, and not all know how to return, or even remember her.

Traditions

Three time a year a massive bonfire shall be lightened outside of every home, if thee dose not have a home, one with a home may share his or hers. This is to symbolise that the Mothers Children is still alive and waiting for her to show them her guidance and to keep evil spirits away from there families and homes.

Once every year, at the first day of spring all Northenist shall go to there ancestors graves and and decorate it with flowers and other plants, as well as might raising a new Rune stone in honour of them.

Food and Drink

Food

In the cold north it isn't always the easiest to grow your food from the soil, so mostly the best food would be meat, as there is a lot of big animals all over the North so there is plenty to go. As meat is both Tasty and good for building muscles it has become somewhat of a tradition to eat meat during different occasions (and on a everyday basis as well in some cases)

The best way to eat the meat is of cores to cook is, the most eaten kind of meat is Bacon, as it is easy to make, it tastes good and it dosent require much raw material. But at festivals and other tradition and also non-tradition festivals there is always meat on the tables, no meat, no party!

Drink

The most usual non-alcoholic drink in the north is Milk, as it is nurturing and good. The most usual Alcoholic drink is Mead, usually honey-mead. The Honey-Mead is a traditional drink in the Northenistic religion, as it is told to have been created by the old goods from the "Old-World". Honey-Mead is often drunken during festivals, as it is a very expensive beverage and requires a lot of Raw materials.

Death

Whenever a person dies he or she shall be berried in either a large boat or in a large wooden box, both of them shall be filled with the dead persons most loved possession and tools that might come in handy if the persons ever would ask Mother Freya to be reborn. many believers also often places down a gift of any kind for the dead one to bring to the Mother as a gift for her and all the gifts that she has bestowed on them and as a thanks to her work on creating the earth.
