The Rastafari Movement (a.k.a. Rastafari, Rasta etc.) is a monotheistic religion that rose in 2008 in eRepublik. ts adherents worship Haile Selassie l as God incarnate, the Second Advent, and are known as Rastafarians, or Rastas. he movement is sometimes referred to as "Rastafarianism", but this term is considered derogatory and offensive by some Rastas, who dislike being labelled as an "ism".

Beliefs

Jah

Jah is the holy god of all the religions. All the gods of all the religions are based on him, and he is infinite. They believe that Jah can enter people and guid them. To connect ot Jah they use Ganag (Cannabis, Marijuana etc.) to allow them to connect to Jah and Nature.

Haile Selassie l

Main article: Haile Selassie l

Haile Selassie l is another diety of Rastafari. He is believed to be an incernation of Jah (equal to the second coming of Jesus in Christianity). There are three core believes in Haile Selassie:

  • He is himself Jah that entered the body of Haile Salessie l.
  • Jah brings all the knowledg of the universe to the mind of Haile Salessie.
  • Haile Salessie l is an incurnation of Jesus, for the second coming.

They also believe that Haile Selassie l is the son of Solomon and Queen Sheba.

Babylon

Babylon is a nickname the Rastas gave to the western society. They believe that the western society is corruptive to the world, and will try to take over the world, and the holy ruling of the Jah.

Zion

Zion is the name of the location that the Jah gave to them. The location is the African Continent. They will have a land of glory, holiness and eternal ruling by the Jah.

Ganga

Ganga is the cannabis plant. It is the holy plant of Rastafari, and it is the Holy Tree. Rastas use cannabis to connect to Jah, meditate, and deel one with nature. Rastas use Ganga in more sorts of foods to reach eternal holiness in their bodies.

Lion

The Lion of Zion

The Lion of Zion is a holy figure in Rastafari. It describes Haile Selassie l, and some times Jah. The most common discription of the Lion is with a crown on his head holding a spear with a crussafix on his top and a flag with the colors of Red, Yellow and Green, tied to the spear.

Scriptures

The Rastas believe in 6 books:

  • The Bible - They mainly believe in the books of Kings in the Old Testament, in the New Testament and the Book of Revelation.
  • Kebra Nagast - "The Glory of Kings". The book tells about King Solomon and Queen Sheba and it believed to be atleast 700 years old.
  • The Promise Key - This is a book written by The Gong Guru - Leonard P. Howell and it tells about the relationship of Rasta to the world, and the evilness of the popes and the westerns on the world.
  • Holy Piby - This book is the book that tells the holiness of the African-Ethiopians and the greatness of everything. He displays firstly the AfroCentric Religion. The author of the book Robert Athlyi Rogers (a.k.a. Shepherd Robert Athlyi Rogers) committed Suicide in 1931, some say because Haile Selassie l fell from the ruling on Ethiopia.
  • Royal Parchment Scroll of Black Supremacy - Is a book written by Fitz Balintine Pettersburg about the greatness of the black continent and the black people.
  • My Life and Ethiopia's Progress - Is a holy book of Rastafari that talks about the returning and holiness of Africa.

Practices

Dreadlocks

A rasta with Dreadlocks.

Dreadlocks are not a must for Rastas, but with the Dreadlocks it shows the seperation of the Rastas from the Western World. In some countries, the Deadlocks are called Rastas. The rastas believe that Jah commanded them to have long hair and have dreadlocks, so they could be concidered priests of Jah (Similar to Samson).

Temple of Jah and Purity of the body

Rastas do not believe in the physicial structural temples that Babylon built, they believe that everyone's bodies are a temple to Jah. Because of that, most of them do not have tatoos or pierce their body. Some also do not eat meat, and all of them don't eat pork.

Death

When a Rasta dies, it believed that they go to a holy place with the ruling of Jah, and there it's only spoken Amharic. Death of the Rastas sorts into 2 types:

  • Death and going to the eternal land of the Jah
  • Life Everliving - All the Rastas that committ themelseves to Jah get's internal life. The rastas don't use Life Everlasting, because it has the word LAST wich says that there will be an end.

Pilgrimage

A rasta must atleast 5 times in his eLife visit Zion. Because in eRepublik it's not possible, they need to visit or Jerusalem in Israel, or South Africa.
