Discussion: Minimal content policy
The discussion about this matter has been dead for weeks so I've better give it a push then. Most of us agree that there should be some kind of minimal content policy. So from the old discussion I came up with these ideas:
Minimal content policy
Bottom line: Every page needs to have at least one paragraph of text content you can't find directly from the eRepublik site.
- Citizen and Newspaper pages should have at least few sentences of text content.
- Military unit and Party pages should have a paragraph about history and current state.
The point of this that we don't make too complicated. We don't need to say what you must have and what not. This would also give new editors some slack with the citizen/newspaper pages (and not to throw them out after first edit by deleting their pages). What you think? All comments can be found here. -- sampo555 | Talk 23:10, 31 August 2011 (PDT)
- +1 This is excellent, and 2 weeks is plenty enough time. -- Mikhail Alexander 02:29, 3 September 2011 (PDT)
- -1 disagree with:
- Every page needs to have at least one paragraph of text content you can't find directly from the eRepublik site.
- Also 2 weeks is not a realistic deadline, especially for new editors, people going away on holidays, getting ready for school exams and RL in general.--Sre8renica

- +1 One paragraph in two weeks is very reasonable, I don't really see why some people think that's asking too much. -- Louis Mountbatten (Talk | Contribs) 11:44, 3 September 2011 (PDT)
- +1 Glad to see my idea coming (slowly) to fruition! :) • John F. Baker (Talk | Contribs) • 16:50, 3 September 2011 (PDT)
This has been added to the policy set of eRepublik wiki. -- sampo555 | Talk 09:10, 25 September 2011 (PDT)
EmbargoList
Mikhail Alexander got an idea about automatically updated list of trading embargoes in the MPPList talk page and his idea has became into reality. You can use it in country pages if you want. Example (Serbia):
This country doesn't have any trading embargoes at the moment. |

- Excellent work as always! -- Louis Mountbatten (Talk | Contribs) 11:45, 3 September 2011 (PDT)
- Great work. Simple and effective. --Sre8renica 04:04, 5 September 2011 (PDT)
- If may ask, how it work ? because as see, it's not automatic, btw Serbia have mpp with Bolivia until august 2012 ? ~~ Azaret déjame un mensaje (: 12:45, 6 September 2011 (PDT)
- Once a day I get the data from API (today's data) and format it into a switch which then passes data to the list-template on demand. It's automated as in "have computer on and connected to internet 18:04 (EEST)". It's not like that it's updated every time something changes ;) And yes, Serbia has embargo with Bolivia until August 2012 (game says "Expires in 12 months") -- sampo555 | Talk 05:35, 7 September 2011 (PDT)

About Converting between Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese
Dear friends, my doubt is that why there is Chinese(Simplified) 中文(简体) and Chinese(Traditional) 中文(繁体) in the Language Menu. In fact, they are not two kinds of language, but they are two character system of one language. In Wikipedia, there is only one language Chinese in the List of Wikipedias, No.12. The Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese can be converted to each other easily. Let me take Chinese(汉语) for an example. You can see there is a 不转换 section at the up-left corner of the page, if you place the cursor on it, there will be a list of Chinese character systems. Then if you click one of them, the page will be converted to the corresponding Chinese character system. I really suggest that Admins add the converting function, it will make the translating task half. --21:24, 9 September 2011 (PDT)Robert Tornado
- There's a problem that we don't have any tech guys available from the eRepublik team to implement this kind of stuff even if we wanted to have it. BTW, I don't see the conversion section at the page you linked to. Interesting thought though... -- sampo555 | Talk 00:58, 10 September 2011 (PDT)
- Oh, I am sorry that I made wrong links. The links should be: List of Wikipedias and Chinese(汉语)--08:25, 10 September 2011 (PDT)Robert Tornado
- Yeah. I get it now. But the problem is that that requires a lot of effort from the eRep tech team which they're not willing to give to this wiki. I'm sorry. I've seen that there's some online converters you could use (I don't know how good they are)... -- sampo555 | Talk 00:29, 11 September 2011 (PDT)
- Thank you for your help, Sampo555. I guess that I should contact MediaWiki for this function. Now I am trying to contact them. Thank you, your answers really are helpful. --05:10, 11 September 2011 (PDT)Robert Tornado
- Hi Sampo555, I found one page http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Automatic_conversion_between_simplified_and_traditional_Chinese#In_MediaWiki_1.4 . It shows that the function has already been there at the version 1.4 of Mediawiki. According to this information, can the eRep tech team do the function more easily? Thanks! --09:17, 11 September 2011 (PDT)Robert Tornado
- Yeah. I've seen that page too and I know it's doable. But the problem remains the same: eRep tech team isn't putting any resources to this wiki. -- sampo555 | Talk 09:37, 11 September 2011 (PDT)
- OK, I understood. Thank you so much, Sampo555. --08:49, 12 September 2011 (PDT)Robert Tornado

Return Uber Editor status if retired Uber editors become active again
If a retired Uber Editor returns to wiki, he should get his uber editor status back with simple notification at the bar. We once discussed about this but it was forgotten. So let's get straight to the voting! -- sampo555 | Talk 04:58, 16 September 2011 (PDT)
- +1 -- sampo555 | Talk 04:58, 16 September 2011 (PDT)

- +1 The former Uber Editor would have to say that he is to properly return for this to happen but otherwise, I completely agree with this. -- Mikhail Alexander 19:55, 16 September 2011 (PDT)
- +1 -- Grzechooo drop a line 03:20, 17 September 2011 (PDT)

Sampo told me to start a discussion
(So I am taking him literally). I was wondering how I would go about becoming an Uber Editor once more? Unless anyone has any objections, I would very much like to become one once more. I am back playing erepublik heavily again (since I am once more playing the game). I'm not really sure what the process is for this. Either way - I would herely like to state my intent to return to being one of the wiki's "moderators" (i.e. the Ubers) Timeoin|Say G'Day 04:58, 16 September 2011 (PDT)

Uber Editor Nominations
I'd like to nominate vSkyzv in the last few months, he has produced some excellent work and also has some excellent work in progress to be released hopefully soon.
He has made the following:
And one in progress is:
I think he is ready for the responsibility for his work and hopefully one day to hopefully become an Administrator as his knowledge of the wiki system seems to be invaluable.
So from me, +1 -- Mikhail Alexander 20:00, 16 September 2011 (PDT)
- +1, the North America map looks über awesome. -- Grzechooo drop a line 03:22, 17 September 2011 (PDT)

Two New Changes That I have noticed...
First of all, the Marketplace is now visible from the My land section. Secondly, Country administration is no longer viewable from the Community tab. The second one, I am not certain whether this is staying this way or not. If it is, these pages will need to be changed. Timeoin|Say G'Day 00:44, 22 September 2011 (PDT)
- The third one would be that you can access the MM from your "Accounts" page and the fourth one is that "Companies for sale" was added to the Marketplace. --Belea2008 02:03, 22 September 2011 (PDT)
- Also News page is no longer viewable from the Community tab, that should be changed too. --Santirub ● «say me hi :3» 07:20, 22 September 2011 (PDT)
Suggestion: New lines to country template
I've created a template which has automatically updated information about country's resource bonuses. So I thought we could add this information to the country template. Thanks to Martin AKA The guy behind eRepublik bot for providing the data! This is not a big change so let's just go right to the voting! -- sampo555 | Talk 11:08, 25 September 2011 (PDT)
