The Mentor-Mentee Relationship
|
|
A Mentor is a teacher, a counselor, a guide to a less experienced person. The Mentor is not a god or a boss, but someone to help the Mentee along the way. The Mentee is the learner who should take advantage of the Mentor's knowledge and guidance to gain his or her own skills and confidence.
A Wiki Mentor should
- Be willing to put the time and effort in to helping a fellow editor
- Understand basic wiki editing and style, template use, etc
- Understand the wiki policies
- Understand the culture and community standards of the wiki
To become a mentor:
- Have the characteristics above
- View the Mentor Guide page and short presentation
- Fill out your information on the Mentor List
- Wait to be contacted by a Mentor or by the coordinator.
The Mentoring process is fairly simple. This is further explained in the Mentor Guide presentation.
