3rd NZ Parliament
The 3rd Parliament of New Zealand was in session from December 26, 2010 to January 25, 2011. The membership was set by the December 25 parliamentary elections. It did not change radically until the results from the December 25 parliamentary elections came in.
It was controlled throughout its history by an Aotearoa single-party majority. The party had managed to increase its majority by four in the December elections. This majority was harnessed to help elect kurojca as President in the January elections. Throughout his term, the Parliament remained relatively docile and supportive of the Aotearoa led administration.
The "opposition" was reduced in this Parliament to just 14 seats. Of the parties represented, they included the Kiwi Social Democrats, Peace 'n' Prosperity Party, Kiwi Revolutionary Party and for the first time the Kiwi Independent Party. Their influence was again minimal.
Two very notable features of this Parliament was that it was the first time a NZ Parliament had declared Natural Enemy status on another country (against Chile) and it was the first time a Parliament agreed to an land-swap (in this case Otago for Tasmania). Both were passed using Aotearoa single-party majority.
