Australia is a nation located in the southeastern hemisphere of the New World. It was annexed by Indonesia on April 18, 2008, as a result of the Indonesia-Australia War; however, since the Agreement for the Independence of Australia and the Australian - Indonesian Region Return Agreement, the regions of New South Wales, Victoria, Northern Territory, Queensland, Tasmania and South Australia have been regained. Australia became whole again after Western Australia was liberated in a resistance war against Indonesia. A further agreement between Australia and Indonesia embodies neutrality in each other's conflicts, in return for peace between the two countries. Australia has a relatively recent history of Training Wars with New Zealand, along with a complicated relationship between the two nations.

History

Australia was among the first countries in the beginning of eRepublik. Australia's population grew slowly and has been though many wars, mainly with Indonesia and as of a year ago, New Zealand. The first President of Australia was zaney, the patriot who would later lead Australia through the war and back to independence. Later on, Neo26988 wrote an inappropriate letter to the Indonesian president. When the war module was introduced, they declared Australia an enemy and she was completely invaded within a few days. This lasted for nearly a year and a half.
Many Australians moved to the United Kingdom and fought in wars to gain their strength to eventually try and get the country back from the Indonesians. This lasted for many months however Australia has been apart of many different wars mainly containing Brazil, Indonesia and South Africa. The biggest moment in history was when an Indonesian group under the name of Angels and Demons PTOed Australia for around 6 months. They took a lot of money and were able to elect themselves into the Senate and electing some as President. Australian's eventually drove them out and have since been invaded by Indonesia and New Zealand countless times.
Government and Politics
The Australian government is divided into three branches. The executive deals with the enforcement of laws and overall management of the country. The Senate is the democratic view of the people of Australia who work on debating and voting on government policies and laws. Finally, the Inspector General works as the moderator and judicy of the Government.
Executive
Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Australia is elected on the fifth day of every month by the citizens of Australia. However, due to Australia's history of being wiped out and PTOs there has been occusions when the Prime Minister was elected by the community on the forum. Upon taking office, a Prime Minister's first set of duties require him to organise his cabinet ministers, who assist him in the running of the country. There have been thirty-seven Prime Minsters since the beginning of the New World.
The Lodge was simply a Q5 House that is donated from the outgoing Prime Minister, to the new Prime Minister (much like the real life counterpart). The Lodge was finished on February 3, 2009, just in time for Prime Minister Cottus Arci to take office. Due to the Version 2 upgrade, the house degraded and was eventually demolished.
Currently, Larni Kaddlestorm is the Prime Minister of Australia, after winning the Febuary 2012 and Marcch 2012 Prime Ministerial (Country President) elections.
Government Departments and Cabinet of Ministers
Each term, the Prime Minister of Australia selects politicians to assist him in the day-to-day running of the country. The Cabinet Ministers are the Prime Ministers advisors and also manage their respective departments through the Australian government. The Prime Minister has the full power to appoint or remove any Minister or Department.

Senate
The Senate of Australia operates through the Congress implemented through the eRepublik system. Senators are elected on the twenty-fifth of each month. The entirety of Senate operations are conducted through the eAustralian forums. A Speaker is elected out of each newly elected Senate who operates as the moderator of debates and the manager of bills and voting.

Inspector General
The Inspector General is elected two days after each Prime Minister election. Because of the level of security of the position, incumbents must be Senators or Order of Australia recipients and their nomination must be seconded by another Senator. An only a majority vote may elect an Inspector general.
The IG's main duties are to watch the Senate and Cabinet sections of the forums, and ensuring that no office holder is breaking any of the laws. If they do suspect anything, they may call for an investigation, which could lead to that office holder's loss of forum privileges.
Political Parties
Many of eAustralia's parties have been lost during the several Indonesian conquests, as well as the Political Take over that occurred in 2010. In 2011, the only Political Take overs have been internal ones, such as the one by Paul Hamon, RonnyJnrJnr and by Babis Tsig who PTO'd the Australian Independents.

[April 2010 OA Repients]
The OA Survival Plan was approved by the Senate on February 3, 2009. In the plan, all recipients of the Order of Australia, who are inactive citizens, will be prevented from dying by the NBA buying Q1 food and donating it to their account to keep their wellness up.
The logic for such a plan is that:
- All OA's are likely to be high in exp. points/stats, so it keeps them alive and keeps our ranking up.
- It's a golden retirement, and serves as a testament to their hard work, that they do not die. Also, it provides our newer citizens a dream of one day being eligible, and kept 'alive' in a dignified, immortal state.
New Player Society
The New Player Society is in place to better introduce and integrate new players into the eAustralia community. There is a mentoring program in place where mentors will contact new players (mentees) and introduce them to various aspects of the game, and explain any questions new players may have on discovering the world of eRepublik.
The mentors will aim to introduce players to the forums and the IRC where many other players congregate and discuss a range of topics relating to both in and out of game. This way, new players will find friends and forge bonds of comradeship, encouraging teamwork which is vital for the wellbeing of eAustralia.
