Canterbury is a region in New Zealand and its capital is Canterbury.

Canterbury is located on New Zealand's South Island, occupying much of the north and eastern portions of the island. It has historically been the more populated of the two South Island regions. The region's capital is also called Canterbury, though in the past it was Christchurch.
