First World War in Erepublik

The 22nd war in Erepublik seems to be the biggest one ever. The Romanian Congress approved yesterday with an astonishing majority the war proposal to Hungary. As most of you already know, Hungary is a member of the [a url=http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/PEACE_Global_Community]PEACE[/a] (People of Earth Associated under Common Excellence) Global Community, which is a worldwide military alliance consisting of all former FIST member nations as well as many former Mediterranean Alliance members. Romania on the other side was a member of the NA (Northern Alliance) and now is an [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/forum-topic-63202.html]ATLANTIS[/a] country, along other powers like Spain or USA.

This conflict is considered to be the first world war in Erepublik because the total number of countries that we expect to enter this war is over 22 from a total number of 29. There will be conflicts between the strongest nations like Romania, USA, Sweden against Hungary, Indonesia, Brazil (not so sure on which side Spain is).

Several mercenaries were hired to take part in this war and rumors say that General Alucard Bloodlust will fight against Romania.

The event caused a major buzz in the international media today and there is wide coverage from all over the world: [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-575511.html]South Africa[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-574871.html]Argentina[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-572332.html]Austria[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-574902.html]Brazil[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-572662.html]Canada[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-574932.html]Czech Republic[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-572301.html]Ireland[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-574991.html]France[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-574802.html]Hungary[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-573492.html]Indonesia[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-574471.html]Pakistan[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-574881.html]Romania[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-574581.html]Norway[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-575681.html]Spain[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-575001.html]Sweden[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-574511.html]UK[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-575412.html]USA[/a]. Server issues and solutions

We received a lot of complains concerning the server crashing in the last 15 minutes of some past battles. Considering the size of this war, in this format, we think there is a high risk of the same issue happening again (this beta version is not as scalable as we would have wanted it, we are making sure V1 is). So the solutions that we have found are the following:

- the battles will have a different ending time so that we won't have more battles ending at the same hour. We will keep a difference of 2 hours between them; - in the last hour of the battle each Soldier can Join a fight only once. This rule will be valid also for the other next wars in the Beta version.

These rules will apply starting today.

Thank you for your support, The Erepublik Team.

The war concept in V1 – Spanish/Portuguese/Mexican wars

Even if the war system brought more action to the Erepublik diplomacy life we realized that it still needed more improvements concerning concept and Citizen's experience. Here are just a few of the changes in V1 in the war system: Starting a war won't mean automatically starting the fights. Conquering/securing a region won't automatically open new battles, too. The Presidents will decide when and where to attack. The cost of starting a war will be smaller, but attacking a region will cost gold too. Allies might also help the country that started the war if the war moved to their territory.

No need to wait for an opponent to have a fight any longer. No random value in the fights damage. Soldiers will have to do something to fight (top secret) that will influence their damage value too, so skill will play a part. Presidents will be able to introduce embargo's against an enemy country.

So the a war will have 3 possible stages: 1. Citizens fighting in an official war; 2. Cease fire in an official war. 3. Economical war (embargo).

Spanish/Portuguese/Mexican wars

A short description of what happened: 24 august 14:20 - The President of Mexico starts a war against Spain. Automatically all Spanish allies declared war to Mexico. Because Portugal and Venezuela have direct borders with Mexico, 2 new separate wars started. 24 august 14:31 – The President of Mexico proposes a Peace Treaty to Venezuela. The proposal is accepted. 24 august 14:32 – The President of Mexico proposes a Peace Treaty to Portugal. The proposal is refused. 25 august 14:20 – The battles for Canary Islands (Spain) and Azores (Portugal) are won by Spain and Portugal. The war now moves on Mexican soil. The battle for Campeche (The Southeast region of Mexico) starts. 26 august 14:20 – Mexico looses both battles. About 50 soldiers from Portugal and 1 from Spain are still standing. Portugal is the first one that captures the Mexican flag (clicks the Conquer button). Doing this practically blocks the Spanish advance in Mexico (no region can become a battle zone unless is bordered by an enemy region). 26 august 14:39 – Portugal proposes a Peace Treaty to Mexico. The proposal is accepted. Now: the war between Spain and Mexico is still valid but no region can become a battle zone until Spain and Mexico will have common borders again. In v1 it is unlikely to run into situations like this as the Presidents will be able to choose what regions to attack.

Seems like the Mexican strategy was to fight the Spanish forces while another force should help the Portuguese army to take the Campeche region. The strategy turned out to be successful until now.

Important reminder:

Do not forget the [a url=http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Rules]10 Erepublik Laws[/a], these include the following ones: 7. No racism, extremism, pornography, vulgarity or spam are allowed. 8. Freedom of press is absolute (without breaking the 7th rule)

We will have no other choice but to ban anyone found breaking any of the Erepublik rules, we ask you to please respect them. Posting offensive material on Erepublik is not ok and we thank all those who have helped us by reporting this sort of behavior.

All the best from the Erepublik team that's expecting an even hotter autumn.

More power to the Congress in V1 - Turkish denomination

As some of you already know in V1 the semi-presidential system that runs every country in Erepublik will be transformed into a semi-parliamentary system. Basically the Congress will have more powers than it has now. Each Member of Congress will be able to propose a limited number of laws. The Congress will propose and vote the Citizen fee and the Taxes. Besides this the Congress will be able to: - set a country minimum wage - allow donations to SO's – besides the Citizen fee this will be the only way to take out money from the country treasury (with a limitation). - impeach the President – 66% of Congress votes will be necessary to change the President. These changes, besides giving more control over a country administration, will also help redice the unfair (to put it lightly) treasury administration that some Presidents have done.

The President will have a more important role regarding the defense strategy and foreign relations. More details concerning what the President will be able to do will be presented in one of the next Erepublik Insider articles.

Turkish denomination

In order to prepare the current version of Erepublik for V1 we applied a currency denomination in Turkey. The hyperinflation was creating huge problems to the economy so we applied the following measures: - we deleted 3 zeros from the TRY accounts and salaries - we've deleted the TRY offer sales from the monetary market - we've analyzed the accounts that did mot respect the 4th Erepublik rule (enriching through an unjust method) and removed the money obtained in this way. - we gave 10 wellness to Turkish Citizens because of the food shortage We haven't made changes in the Marketplace prices (that's why we gave the wellness bonus) so the company owners should modify their prices. Neither have we changed the tax rates. In the next days we might work on other currencies as well.

A new rule starting from this month is that we won't allow Presidents to issue enormous amounts of currency. The limit is set at 100.000 units of local currency per month. If a president wants to imitate Mugabe in Erepublik he will have to find other ways.

Thanks from the Erepublik team

Two more Erepublik Citizens in our team

As the launch of V1 is quickly approaching, our team is busy developing and fine tuning the new modules from the next Erepublik version. Therefore we recruited two more Citizens to help us with our work: [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-149531.html]Bogdan[/a] and [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-393011.html]Dragos[/a]. We are counting on their experience as important Beta Citizens to help us test it and ensure that all the requirements will be fulfilled. [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-393011.html]Dragos[/a] aka [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-393011.html]gR3Ed[/a] will also help us moderate the discussions on the forums and answering the messages received via the [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/contact.html]contact form[/a] from the 30.000 Citizens of Erepublik.

As already stated, we will need additional help from other Citizens to test the new version and we extend a big thanks to all who volunteered in our last article on the subject. Additional information about the public testing phase of Erepublik V1 will be given in a future article.

What's new in Erepublik?

As some of you already know, the president of Mexico had proposed [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/politics_proposals-201-war.html]war to Spain[/a]. The Congress rejected this proposal with 14 votes against, but president [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-2808.html]Alfonso[/a] [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/politics_proposals-202-war.html]proposed it again[/a]. We will keep you informed about this situation.

Fearing the news about war between [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/country-26.html]Mexico[/a] versus [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/country-15.html]Spain[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-2.html]Admin[/a] has moved to Brazil. The location for the [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-2.html]Admin[/a] account will be the largest capital (in terms of population) of an Erepublik country that was not involved directly in any war before. (We will have to think of something else if at one time all countries get involved in a war - what are your suggestions?).

Along with the 9th elections in Erepublik, the change of administration in [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/country-43.html]Turkey[/a] lead to a peace treaty between [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/country-43.html]Turkey[/a] and [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/country-44.html]Greece[/a] . Also, with the end of the [a url=http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Wars]22nd Erepublik war[/a], [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-398922.html]Astromaniac[/a] wrote the new [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-471571.html]Military Statistics[/a] and [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-189742.html]the_mihai[/a] modified his version of the [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-476612.html]Erepublik map[/a].
