Ethniko Enotiko Kinima is a Top 5 party and one of the oldest parties in Greece.
In January 2010, president Tall_niki changed the party's name to Kinima Ethnikis Enotitas. It was changed back to Ethniko Enotiko Kinima in April 2011 by president Cris 99.

Foundation
After the liberation of Thrace and the creation of the first party Greek Government, Makoulian a known member of the liberation committee and President of Greece, realized that the only chance for the newly create state to succeed was if its citizens were united. That was already done but a new party was needed to express that even more. So he decided to change the party's name from Greek Government to Ethniko Enotiko Kinima. It wasn't just a change of name but a change in the whole political philosophy of the party. As described in the foundation articled, Ethniko Enotiko Kinima - National Unity Movement, stands for National because it was created to serve the nation, Unity because it wants to house every eGreek, Movement because it was dynamic, it had past, present and future.
Politics
Ethniko Enotiko Kinima continued to be the only party till the Greek community had grown enough. When the first ideas fall for the creation of a 2nd party in Greece, Ethniko Enotiko Kinima faithful in its democratic values it fully supported that idea. That 2nd party was Greek Independence Party.
Although, GIP since the very beginning was opposite with many things EEK said and did, and it still remains one of the main rivals of EEK, even though there were several times both parties co-operated.
