The Galactic Empire Party was a political party in Icon-New Zealand.png New Zealand.

History

The Galactic Empire Party formed on the 16th of October 2010 when Adasko took over as party president of the New Zealand Liberal Party as a part of the Provisional Governments Anti-Takeover actions.

The party remained a minor force in NZ and was only active in the first few days of New Zealand. The party never had a solid base and was quickly eclipsed by the New Zealand Union Party as the party of the provisional government.

In the run-up to the October parliamentary elections, Adasko decided to dissolve the party and form the Kiwi Social Democrats, in an effort to unite the left-wing members of the Provisional government.

Party Stance

Adasko cemented the party position in New Zealand when he first became party president. He declared that the party is "some relief from the prevailing "internet serious business" mentality. We do not want to make New Zealand a joke, quite the contrary. We want to attract the people disillusioned by other countries, where the game is treated too seriously."[1].

Ironically, it was because of this mentality that the party was not taken serious and quickly became eclipsed by the NZUP. This would be a primary reason why the KSD decided to adopt a more serious mentality.

Party Presidential Elections

Summary of the October 2010 Party Presidential Elections: The Liberal Party of New Zealand received a total of 55 votes and it was ranked third by number of votes cast per party. The election was marked with controversy when a friend of Marcus Cicero, the citizen who created the party, condemned the provisional governments actions of trying to secure the party for the presidential and congress elections. Adasko was the ATO candidate for the provisional government and he won by 16 votes. The party was renamed to the "Galactic Empire Party" on the 16th of October 2010.
