What are ranks in eRepublik?

In national organized militaries, such as the British Army or the United States Armed Forces, citizens who are members are given a rank, which displays their level of importance, responsibility and skill in the national military. This rank is not related to the damage ranks that every citizen in eRepublik has.

For more information on the ingame eRepublik damage ranks, see here.

General Ranks

There are numerous General ranks of various grades, in usage today:

*Note, in the British Army, the rank of Brigadier is used, and is not considered a General rank.

Useage in Organized Militaries

General is a senior officer rank, who holds various similar commanding positions. 'General' is shortened to 'GEN' or 'Gen' in most organized militaries. Generally, he is the Army Commander in a country (commanding all 4 military divisions) and, as such, he is also Minister of Defense in the government and Chief of staff in the national Joint Chief of Staff. Besides, he is responsible for media presence in a country and recruitment and in charge of national military management and supplying of weapons and other items to soldiers. (Staff Officer)

South Africa

In South Africa, the rank of General is awarded to the Chief of Staff of the South African Armed Forces.

United Kingdom

In the British Army, a General is a commanding officer (or General Officer Commanding) of a branch of the army. Officers of the rank of General also make up the General Staff, the senior commanding body of the British Army.

The rank of General was also presented to the Commanding Officers of the Special Air Service, Special Forces Support Group, and the Royal Marines for a short period.

United States

In the United States Armed Forces, the rank of General is awarded to Commanders of a Branch of the military, such as the United States Army or United States Training Corps. The Vice-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff also holds this rank.

An exception to this rule, the United States Marine Corps employs the rank of Commandant instead, with the same useage and rank insignia of a full General.
