George P. Burdell is a citizen of Ontario in Canada. He was born in Georgia in the United States of America, and relocated to Thrace in Greece at a young age, due to its growing economy. After more than a year of living in Greece, participating in its liberation wars against Turkey, serving in Congress, and editing a newspaper, Burdell finally lost his patience with his fellow Greeks during the Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) naming dispute. Tired of hearing his countrymen upset over what he considered a trivial matter, and frustrated with the severe lack of Greek-to-English translations in Greek newspapers, Burdell left Greece on Day 1,050 (October 5, 2010) and relocated to Ontario, obtaining Canadian citizenship in the days that followed.

Burdell is the owner and editor of the newspaper The Glass Onion. Regular publication never fully resumed due to time constraints, but he continued to publish articles from time to time, analyzing then-current events and voicing his opinions. In Greece, he ran for Congress a few times, and was successful just once. He was a member of the Greek Independence Party (formerly the HPC, which was formerly the GIP) from his arrival in Greece until the day he relocated to Canada. He has not decided on how involved he will be in Canada or its politics yet, or if the Glass Onion will ever resume publication.
