Gherk is a citizen of Canada and the founder of National Insult Day.
Biography
Gherk joined before the implementation of the Citizenship Module (Day 617) and moved to Hungary to intercept information for the Brolliance.
During World War III, Gherk provided lists of Hungarian organizations and citizens that were providing Food and Moving Tickets to Hungarians during the conflict. He was an acting Supply Officer for Hungary during the invasion of Canada and supplied Moving Tickets to Tyler F Durden to help Canadians regain their Citizenship and continue to fight for Canada's interests.
Gherk stayed in Hungary during the French occupation of Canada and fought in many resistance wars against PEACE before returning to Canada in September 2009 to join the newly reborn Canadian Progressive Front. Gherk kept a relatively low profile for the remainder of 2009 and participated in the Strategic Voting Unit for CPF congress candidates.
Media
Gherk is known for editorial comics that poke fun at prominent Canadians, local politics, or daily events of eCanada.
The Gherk cartoons were satirical in nature and existed of crudely drawn figures with a one-line comment. These cartoons were well received in Canada and were usually found in the Top 5 news article of the day. Gherk's favourite topic of discussion was nea milosu, more commonly known as the Fram who was permanently banned in August 2009.
On October 17th, 2010 (Day 1062) Gherk created a contest known as National Insult Day. The contest provided an award of 2 Gold to the best cartoon insult article created on that day. The 1st award was split between Saltydog and Plugson. Each winner was awarded 2 Gold and an opportunity to judge the 2nd NID contest. The NID contest has been run on the 17th Day of every month from October 2010 to March 2011. The controversial NID contests have lead to a degradation of journalism quality in Canada. The reason for this, was primarily insult articles were receiving higher votes than well written interviews or exposes of politics or the military.
On Day 1242, the News Application was changed from the Top 5 articles into 6 News Categories which included First Steps in eRepublik, Battle Orders, Warfare Analysis, Political Debates, Financial Business, and Social Interaction. The change has shifted the focus of citizen interaction from News Articles to Citizen Feeds.
Politics
Gherk is a 5 time Congressman and a strong believer in Blocking for CP and Congressional Elections.
On Day 1284, Gherk proposed a motion to create the Canadian Space Agency which aimed to increase the storage space of new players. The goals of the CSA were to motivate the player interest in government programs and to remove some CAD currency from circulation.
Military
He is a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces leaving to join Lavis Knight's HOPE Squadron.
