Hamilton Investment Bank is a privately owned holding company.

Original Business Venture

Wanting to break into the lucrative venture of owning and running companies Hamilton Investment Bank created two companies, a Q1 Wood and a Q1 Housing company. However the CEO, Alexander Hamilton had not done the proper research and started the Q1 Wood company in Wisconsin; a medium wood region. It was quickly evident that not only was the wood company inefficient in a medium region but that the CEO's plan of vertical integration did not work in eRepublik. Deciding to cut its losses Hamilton Investment Bank sold both businesses at a slight loss and put all the money into a Q1 Wood company in Pennsylvania; a high wood region.

Birth of A Small Empire

Hamilton Investment Bank's reorganization of its business portfolio proved successful; its core company Hamilton Lumber was profitable. In short order Hamilton Lumber was upgraded to Q2; a move to avoid the overly competitive Q1 markets in the USA. Perhaps in a bit of hastiness the CEO moved to purchase an export license to Romania which at the time lacked a high wood region. Hamilton Lumber's Q2 status left it at a slight efficiency disadvantage compared to the higher quality companies already exporting to Romania. To make matters worse Romania obtained a high wood region in Russia and promptly raised its wood import taxes to 99%; Hamilton Lumber had only been in the market long enough to recoup about half of the export license cost (20 Gold).
