Reiji Mitsurugi is the current party president and has held the position since January 15th.

History

The Beginning

The avatar of Tohru, founder and seven time party president.

On February 10, 2009, Tohru selected King B to be the new Vice President. Her choice was well picked, as King B proceeded to begin a massive recruitment program that boosted the party from being minor to second in rankings. King B's incredible efforts thrust the Imperial Sun Party into the political arena, becoming the subject of much publicity. With that, organization of the party was needed, and quickly put into place. It was around this time that activity be considered of utmost priority.

The party at that time published this article that outlined ISP goals and how it wanted to achieve this.

Japan's Largest Party

In the June 2009 congressional elections, the Imperial Sun Party won eleven seats in the Japanese Diet, including one UFJ candidate running on the ISP ticket, bringing the Imperial Sun Party delegation's membership in that body to almost 30% (after two rogue candidates immediately resigned and left Japan). After a short celebration, the party's members of congress began to work on legislative initiatives that included increased funding for the military, programs focused on retention of new citizens, and the establishment of an official Japanese Constitution. The party's first act was the creation of a funding bill for the Japan Election Commission, which passed 25 to 7. A provisional funding bill for the JIA in the amount of 25 gold was also passed 25-3. In mid-June, Tohru announced that KITA Ikki would serve as the new Vice President. However, further legislative goals stalled in the face of major world events that changed Japan.

Kyushu Controversy

In early July, Indonesian military commanders determined that the most effective way to attack their rival, the United States of America, would be to attack Hawaii through Kyushu. After much debate in congress, ISP members reluctantly supported the plan, as Indonesia promised to make good any problems caused by the invasion through payments of gold and other offers. Once the Indonesians had seized Hawaii and California, Kyushu was returned to its home country, and by vote of congress, a Q5 hospital was placed in Kyushu and in Hokkaido by the Indonesians in compensation, giving Japan three Q5 hospitals by the end of July 2009. This controversial event later became known as the Kyushu Controversy.

Continuing the Work

The June-July legislative period was busy for the congressmen and women of the Imperial Sun Party. They lead the way in creating the Sempai-Kouhai Program, a mentoring system designed to encourage new citizens to stay in Japan and be active as well as provide advice. Congressmen Ryuu Toumori was appointed as the first director of the Sempai-Kouhai Program and the party also began to debate the creation of state-run companies to prevent the ongoing shortage of low-skill jobs for new citizens that had been plaguing the country. The possibility of government supporting small businesses through loans was also discussed, but ultimately no plan was created. During this time, the Japanese Diet also began debating the creation of an official constitution, drafted by Congressman Reiji Mitsurugi.

The July 2009 congressional elections were a success for the party, with 13 seats going to ISP candidates. It was also at this time that a new party logo was decided upon. On August 8th a funding bill for the JIA in the amount of 2250 JPY was proposed by newly appointed Minister of Defense KITA Ikki and passed 30-4. Additional votes allowed the opening of the Japanese Imperial Army Nippon Weapons company to began producing weapons for the JIA as well as provide training jobs to new citizens. A significant population explosion was underway worldwide, and Japan's private companies were ill-prepared to deal with the labor surplus. By mid-August, the party had reached 108 members, second only to the former Korean National Party, whose numbers were largely North Korean refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of their homeland.

Change in Leadership

In early August, Tohru announced that she would on longer be Party President of the Imperial Sun Party and announced that KITA Ikki was her choice for replacement. After a period of mourning and disappointment that their old leader would no longer be leading them, party members elected KITA Ikki to be ISP President on August 15th, 2009. In his acceptance speech, KITA Ikki thanked Tohru for her leadership and support, and King B made a rare appearance, expressing pride at being part of "one of Japan's most powerful political parties."

The following Congressional Election cemented the ISP's place in the Japanese political scene. Twelve seats were once again held amongst the surge of the new Godzilla Party.

Close Congressional Elections in Turbulent Times

The Godzilla Party made their debue in the August Congressional elections and became the largest party in eJapan, steering the government towards increased military spending and helping the Imperial Sun Party's drive to create a Q5 weapons company and establish state-support for foreign-based, Japanese-owned iron companies. The need for a strengthened military in Japan was almost universally accepted in the wake of the Theocratic takeover in South Korea. KITA Ikki was re-elected in September's party president elections with 56 votes to 5 votes and the following Congressional elections in September re-established the Imperial Sun Party as a primary force in Japanese politics with a solid 15 seats in the eJapanese Diet. The October 2009 congressional elections were again hotly contested, the newly active Tequila Fitness Club doing well, leaving the Imperial Sun Party with 13 seats, still the largest in congress, but fewer than before.

October and November 2009 Presidential Elections

The Imperial Sun Party played a crucial role in supporting victorious presidential candidates in October and November 2009. First supporting Oraizan in her third bid for the presidency over rival Godzilla candidate Dokomo, the party's voters contributed to a close electoral victory for Oraizan. However, unfulfilled campaign promises to increase the visibility of the office of the president as well as increased access and consideration from the PEACE GC alliance due to her "high position" in that organization resulted in disillusionment among party members and the party supported Dokomo over Lauri Mursu after Oraizan announced she would not be running for reelection. Dokomo went on to win a solid victory with 57.8% of the vote, but in he final moments of election day, a cabal of disgruntled former government officials, including Walorm, angry at their impending loss, stole the national treasury. Party president KITA Ikki declared the theft "an attack on the foundation of the Japanese democracy" and vowed that those responsible would never play a role in government again.

December 2009 Congressional Elections / 2010 Country President Elections

In the December 2009 congressional elections, the Tequila Fitness Club attempted to use an electoral exploit, causing some candidates from other parties, including the Imperial Sun Party, to lose when they should have won. After the election results were corrected and a defection to the Godzilla Party, the Imperial Sun Party retained 11 seats, maintaining its past strength in congress.

Long-time party president KITA Ikki announced his intent to run for country president on December 26th and campaigned against Godzilla incumbent Dokomo. After election day on January 5th had ended, the results were 227 votes, or 51.71% for KITA Ikki, 187 votes, or 42.60% for Dokomo. Shortly after the election, Godzilla opposition cried fowl about 16 Hungarian citizens whose citizenship requests were approved in the week preceding election day. An independent Office of Immigration report released by kuroiunmei absolved the new president of wrong-doing and determined that Koppanyi Ferenc had acted independently, although the margin of victory was large enough that the additional votes would not have affected the results anyway.

January 2010 Party President Election

After winning the country president elections on January 5th, KITA Ikki followed the tradition of Japanese Presidents and stepped down as party president of the Imperial Sun Party on January 15th. ISP members elected Reiji Mitsurugi as the new party president with 72 votes, or 90% of the total votes cast, beginning a new era of leadership in the Imperial Sun Party.

Party Structure

The party has a party president, vice president, information officer and members. Previous vice presidents included King B, KITA Ikki, and Reiji Mitsurugi. The current Vice President is ExReality.

Policies

Military

The party supports a strong state military. Imperial Sun Party initiatives were instrumental in the creation of the Nippon Weapons Q5 company as well as the creation of state-supported iron mines to support it. The party regularly supports the budget requests from the Minister of Defense. The party also supports spending gold on continuous war games, which guarantee an important oppotunity for the state-funded military and private citizens to train. Weapons should be given out to dedicated and loyal soldiers to speed up their training. The government should be working together with business owners in the Japanese weapon industry to ensure that cheap weapons are readily available on the Japanese market.

Domestic

The party believes that small state-run companies should be around to ensure that all new citizens have a job offer awaiting them. However, these are not intended to compete with privately owned companies and should only hire new citizens. Japan should establish an Office of Immigration for national discussion on citizenship requests. In addition to discussing possible immigrants, Japan should establish and adhere to a list of proven bad applicants.

The ISP believes that culture and education plays a key role in any nation and that development in this regard is crucial. ISP members regularly participate in cultural initiatives operated by the Ministry of Culture.

Foreign Affairs

The Imperial Sun Party supports the creation of a free and independant Korea, be it South Korea or North Korea. Japan should always approach a situation through diplomacy first and foremost before considering other options. The Imperial Sun Party currently supports a non-aligned position towards the super-alliances so that it may be seen as an independent agent for positive change in East Asia.
