Laurana Psion is a Japanese citizen. She is the owner and editor of the Zetsubō Shimbun newspaper, which has hopes of becoming widely acknowledged as a leading component of the Japanese media and indeed, the global media in general. She was previously a Member of Congress affiliated with the Japanese Labour Party. Her death was discovered sometime in April 2009. However, as of the 13th of June 2009, she has been found alive if not entirely hale and hearty.

Early History

Books.jpg This page contains fictional information. (What's this?)

Not much is known of Laurana Psion's beginnings, but it is widely speculated that she arrived from a different plane of existence; this would adequately explain her many strange idiosyncrasies and differences in beliefs as compared with her fellow peers in general. The most widely accepted theory is that she is a pod pilot born in the Gallente Federation in the galaxy of New Eden, located in the EVE universe. Following research that suggested that the wormhole that is the EVE Gate was still functional, she attempted to traverse the treacherous electromagnetic storms which enveloped the EVE Gate, in hopes of reestablishing contact with long lost Earth. However, just before entering the wormhole, a sudden and violent surge of the surrounding turbulence overwhelmed her ship's shield systems seemingly ripping it apart. It would appear that her escape pod somehow survived the ship's destruction, but how it managed to end up in eRepublik is as yet unknown. It crashed into the oceans and eventually drifted onto a rocky shore located in Shikoku, Japan. From there, she somehow found her way to the region's capital, Matsuyama, where she found a place of her own. Little did she know that she was soon to witness the death of a halcyon era and the birth of a tumultuous dark age.

Media Involvement

Immediately, on the next day after her arrival to eRepublik, she set about the creation of the Zetsubō Shimbun newspaper in order to have her own personal creative outlet. This was, of course, during what some refer to as the "Golden Age" of Beta when newspapers were unregulated.

Political Career

After a few weeks spent in careful observation and analysis of the local political culture by means of the local media, she decided to join the Japanese Labour Party, whose political orientation suited her and where friendly faces were to be found. She has since tried to contribute as best as she can to both the party and Japan. Shortly before the coming of V1, she unsuccessfully ran for the mayorship of Matsuyama, the administrative capital of Shikoku. Despite this early set back, she nevertheless managed to obtain a seat in Congress as of 02/10/08, and retained her seat in the first congressional elections of V1.

Apathy & Death

The onset of V1 was a "changing of the guards" so to speak, which saw the old blinked out of existence and the new, smashing into what remained of eRepublik like an errant meteor; it was a complete upheaval of the status quo. It was during these troubled times that the dreaded May Sickness (or Japathy) struck with a vengeance, scything through the global population, thinning the ranks of luminaries and rapscallions alike. Laurana was one of these victims. As time progressed, her articles slowed, her forum posts decreased and finally, her lifebeat, the sound of the daily "clickan", just; stopped. No longer training, working or even eating, she was moved to the ICU ward of the Shikoku regional hospital but to no avail. Her wellness began the slow progression towards 0, and finally in April 2009, on some now long forgotten date, she was declared dead.

Biography (V1)

Rebirth

In an unexpected turn of events, Laurana suddenly arose from the dead, on the 13th of June, voiding the declaration of her death just two months past. She awoke to find that once again, the world was in a relative state of peace with relatively little turmoil in the world. Bewildered, she tentatively stepped into this new eJapan and began the slow process of finding her way around again. Although she was delighted to be warmly greeted by faces both old and new, she was also sorrowful to discover that while she had recovered from her most deepest of slumbers, the same could not be said of other past acquaintances who are no longer amongst the living.

Personal Life

In the absence of any known details in this regard, it must be assumed that she is severely lacking in any substantial amount of personal life.
