History

November 2008

ArtemIvanov renamed Socialistische Partij van het Volk to Links Nederland. The party won the president elections and Cocoamok got her second term. For the congress Links Nederland got 16 seats, 42 votes.

December 2009

The party won the president elections and Cocoamok got her third term. For the congress Links Nederland got 14 seats, 32 votes (lost 2 seats and 10 votes).

January 2009

The party won the president elections and Cocoamok got her fourth term. In the congressional elections Links Nederland got 12 seats (-2) and 35 votes (+3).

February 2009

Cocoamok decided not to run again as president for the Netherlands and inside the party no candidate was found. The party decided to support DanielB1989 from Iron & Wine for president of the Netherlands. DanielB1989 was elected. After the congressional elections where Links Nederland got 12 seats, 35 votes (all the same as in January 2009). The party came in the government, but in that it had to work with the extreme right party Neerlands Hoop. Many party members did not favour that. Party President Deviltje left the party because he did not receive enough support for that government.

March 2009

The party decided again to support DanielB1989 from Iron & Wine for president of the Netherlands because he did a good job. DanielB1989 was elected. Links Nederland got in the congressional election 11 seats (-1) and 31 votes (-4) and was again represented in the government.

April 2009

The party decided to support Dionysus from Iron & Wine for president of the Netherlands. Dionysus was elected. This month Belgium and the Netherlands merged to the United Netherlands. In the congressional elections Links Nederland 16 zetels (+5) and 53 votes (+22). The extreme right parties Neerlands Hoop (5) and Partij van het Gezond Verstand (6) also got many seats. Links Nederland decided not to govern because the party members did not like working hard and get complaints from Dutch Three Star, Neerlands Hoop and Partij van het Gezond Verstand about Links Nederland not working for all. Iron & Wine was disappointed in her long lasting coalition partner by this move and made a government with all the other parties. This was not a successful government, although the experienced Iron & Wine ministers did a good job. After this experience the extreme right party (NH and PGV joined to make GVD) was not welcome in the government by all the other parties until now.

May 2009

The party decided again to support Dionysus from Iron & Wine for president of the Netherlands because he did a good job. Dionysus was re-elected. Party president Peter van der Voort proposed to change the name in Libertarian Social Democrats. It was accepted by the party members. The new name expresses the wish to focus on being social and democratic, but also to get less bureaucracy and more fun in the United Netherlands.
