Nationalgardet (Eng. The National Gard) is a libertarian party in Sweden that was active between April 2009 - January 2010 and from December 2012 and forward. It uses the abbreviation NG. Since mid-2016 it has been the largest party in Sweden when it comes to the number of members and often also when it comes to number of congressmen. It was originally started under ID 73 and later was re-established under current ID - 432.
History
Nationalgardet's history begins when Neppons wins the party president election for MSAP (later known as Folket) in the month of April. This party president victory has been called ”the first coup of MSAP”. Soon after this coup the name was changed from MSAP to Neppoleons Nationalgarde. But after a while, neppons gives MSAP back to it's real members and goes of to form Neppoleons Nationalgarde together with w3st3rb3rg, Panama and Karl Den Tredje. In May 2009 they decided to change their name to Nationalgardet.
In September 2009, Nationalgardet succeeded for the first time to become the 5th biggest party in Sweden and reaches the congress. The party later formed Liberala Vikingar together with Democrats of New Sweden in January 2010.
Nationalgardet was reestablished in December 2012 when Partiet, MarknadsPartiet and Nybörjardemokraterna joined forces in order to compete with the biggest party, Flashback Sweden. One of the main goals with the party was now closer relationships with Swedens neighbours, mainly Norway and Finland. This lead to an alliance, Asgard, between Sweden, Finland and later also Norway and Canada.
The new party was the biggest party of Sweden for about a year, until Flashback Sweden once again became the biggest party of Sweden. In mid-2016, Nationalgardet surpassed Flashback Sweden and has since then been the biggest Swedish party.
