Nick Everdale is a journalist and company director from the USA. He operates The Fair Dealer newspaper and many companies under the Old Dominion Holdings umbrella, and was the Congressman from Virginia.

Political Life

Everdale joined the Libertarian Party of Virginia in March 2009.

He once supported Nationalist Party Congressman Navy II, but after his conviction for treason and fraud campaigned loudly against his remaining in Virginia. In early April, Everdale considered running for Congress , but bowed out after veteran Libertarian Sabotage75 expressed interest. Everdale supported Sabotage75's first and second runs for Congress in April and May, and founded the political action group "Friends of Sabotage75".

Unsuccessful June 2009 Virginia Congressional Bid

Following Sabotage75's loss on May 25th, 2009, Everdale announced his candidacy for the Virginia Congressional seat against USWP incumbent Dmalicious. Everdale launched a "Virginia Listening Tour" and began a campaign to contact all residents of Virginia. On June 23rd, Libertarian Party President Claire Littleton confirmed Everdale as a unity candidate between the Libertarian Party, Conservative Party, United Independents Party, and Federalist Party.

Everdale jumped to an early lead on election day, with Dmalicious trailing by 8 votes. However, Dmalicious made up significant ground in the early afternoon and ultimately won in the early morning, 27 votes to 23. Everdale conceded the Virginia race at 9:30 the next morning.

Successful July 2009 Virginia Congressional Bid

Everdale announced his second Congress campaign on July 10th, after Congressman Dmalicious released a statement regarding his intent to step down from the position. Everdale launched his platform on July 18th, and ran a campaign focused on game mechanics with little of the campaigning seen in his previous bid for Congress. Polls were favorable during the campaign's final days, and Everdale easily maintained a 7 vote lead over a field of newcomers, claiming victory soon after polls closed.

Government Service

Portugal Study Committee

Everdale entered into American foreign policy discussions early in his eRepublik life, chiefly through his newspaper articles on Portugal and its occupations of several key territories in Mexico. The first installment of this series, "Portugal: Enemy at the Gates?" briefly became one of the Top 5 articles in the United States.

Much of the data for these stories came from his service as an Aide to the Secretary of Portugal Affairs, Danylo Halytskyj. He was the second member of President Scrabman's U.S. Portugal Study Committee after Secretary Halytskyj.

Ambassador to Sweden

Days after Sweden declared war on Germany, Everdale was appointed Ambassador to Sweden by the Scrabman Administration. The Fair Dealer announced the appointment in a special edition. As Ambassador, Everdale worked closely to lower trade barriers with Sweden and continued President Scrabman's course of neutrality in the Sweden/Germany war.

Following the war, Everdale remained on as Ambassador to Sweden into July, and launched a plan to increase American political connections with Sweden following the diplomatically damaging Sweden/German conflict. Everdale stepped down from his duties as Ambassador to Sweden on July 20th to focus on his campaign for Congress and to allow ample time for a new Ambassador to be selected.

In Congress

At the suggestion of a Virginia constituent that he make use of the IRC channel for Congress, Everdale has consistently given a "Two Minute Speech" every day of his term. These speeches normally address the military situation of the eU.S., as well as issues brought up by constituents who contact Everdale.

Everdale worked behind-the-scenes to enact President Emerick's Pulitzer Prize plan, and supported the call of many Senators to lower tax rates and VAT on final products. He has also been a loud voice for Virginia defense, and remained in Virginia during the PEACE attack on Washington, D.C., at the request of his constituents.
