What are ranks in eRepublik?

In national organized militaries, such as the British Army or the United States Armed Forces, citizens who are members are given a rank, which displays their level of importance, responsibility and skill in the national military. This rank is not related to the damage ranks that every citizen in eRepublik has.

For more information on the ingame eRepublik damage ranks, see here.

Useage in Organized Militaries

A Sergeant has varying roles in organized militaries that bases their structure on a land army. In some militaries, soldiers with the rank of Sergeant command a small group of soldiers, such as a squad. In other militaries, it is used as a reward for soldiers who show increased activeness and dedication.

South Africa

In the South African Armed Forces, the rank of Sergeant is awarded to the second-in-command of a platoon.

United Kingdom

In the British Army, the rank of Sergeant was awarded to a commander of a squad in The Royal Guard

United States

In the United States Armed Forces, a Sergeant (SGT) wears three up-turned chevron. The rank of Sergeant has multiple uses throughout the different branches of the US Military, although the rank is classed as a soldier's rank. In the United States Army, a Sergeant is a supply non-commissioned officer, whilst in Mobile Infantry it is used for the platoon executive officer. In most other branches, the rank of Sergeant is purely for recognition of activity & dedication.
