Military Service Awards
These have never been used. I move to strike them from the article. Only the first set, though. The Campaign Awards are used. -Wisher, eUSMC

Broken Rank Images
Broken images in the military ranks section have been commented out. The files themselves are viewable svgs, however the wiki's thumbnail code breaks them. Submit a bug report, convert them to a different format, or attempt to save them again, at a different setting, to fix the problem. For now, they're commented out, and should remain that way until they no longer break the page. Necros Xiaoban 09:47, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Military Service Ribbons are to award and recognize a soldier's dedication to the branch he or she serves. This ribbon is given every three months to the soldier. For repeat awards (2nd award at the 6th month mark, 3rd award at the 9th month mark, etc), appropriate bronze, silver, and/or gold star may be attached to the ribbon, which are to follow this format:
- 1st Award N/A
- 2nd Award 1 Bronze Star
- 3rd Award 1 Silver Star
- 4th Award 1 Gold Star
- 5th Award 1 Gold Star 1 Bronze Star
- 6th Award 1 Gold Star 1 Silver Star
- 7th Award 1 Gold Star 1 Gold Star
- 8th Award 1 Gold Star 1 Gold Star 1 Bronze Star
- 9th Award 1 Gold Star 1 Gold Star 1 Silver Star
- 10th Award 1 Gold Star 1 Gold Star 1 Gold Star
- 11th Award 1 Gold Star 1 Gold Star 1 Gold Star
This means the system was only designed for 2 years 9 months of service... which technically people could do... but rarely with one branch... continuously.

What to do with a problem like Warrant Officers
Well, the United States Cavalry have 5 now, and tbh, It'd look silly to add 4 more ranks into the main rank chart e_e So what do we do? -

It may be preferred to break the rank chart into separate rank charts, enlisted, warrant and officer, with perhaps a link on the warrant chart to information about the United States Cavalry Warrant officer program Necros Xiaoban 23:40, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

- I made a go of it, just to show what it would look like, http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/User_talk:Necros_Xiaoban#Military_Ranks It certainly improves readability. I opted to not include branches who do not use the Warrant Officer rank in the Warrant Officer ranks table, as it is needless clutter. Additional space savings could be made by reducing the size of the branch icons in the tables. Each branch's insignia already appears in full size in the article, these should only be large enough to serve their purpose as a visual aid. Necros Xiaoban 02:09, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Marine Corps Commandant Stars
At one point the USMC ranks had a 3 star Lt. Gen and a 4 star Vice Commandant, with a presumed (though not shown) 5 star Commandant (which fit neatly with CJCS being a 6 star slot). I noticed the Lt. Gen rank is gone, VCom is now 3 star and Com is a 4 star rank, as per an edit by Batterytime. Can anyone confirm this? Necros Xiaoban 23:35, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- Jameson L Tai standardized the eUS rank system while he was Army XO a while back, as far as I know, so now yes: all Branches have a Lieutenant General and General leading them, and the CJCS hold the rank of General of the Army (GOTA). - John F Baker Talk/Pretorian Guard 23:47, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- The point I was making is that the USMC specifically has the ranks of Vice Commandant and Commandant. Vice Commandant was previously held as a 4 star rank, and when I asked sukhoida about it, he informed me Commandant was therefore a 5 star rank. This is no longer reflected in the wiki, and so I wondered if thats a matter of policy with the USMC, or overzealousness on the part of an editor. Necros Xiaoban 02:05, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Was looking back on my older contributions, and found a comment I'd made on the global military ranks article, "It might be worth noting, in the American rank structure the CJCS is a 'six' star general, and VCJCS is a 'five' star general, though I've never seen an actual five star insignia. I'd asked NXNW about it a while back, and he confirmed. By that view, CJCS might be considered a 'senior' national commander, or an OF-12 Necros Xiaoban 05:00, 8 October 2010 (UTC)" This may be where some of the confusion comes from, given that the Commandant is often also VCJCS Necros Xiaoban 02:12, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, now the CJCS is O-11 but with 6 star insignia ( o.O ), whilst the VCJCS has been O-10 for a while now. Have a look at the Joint Chiefs of Staff page for some rank history there. Seems the Marines DID use an OF-11 rank for a while... But yeah, the CJCS and VCJCS seem to usually be Branch Commanding Generals aswell as their posts in the Joint Chiefs. - Because certain branches felt the need to go against the grain. See: USTC enlisted ranks, Cavalry enlisted ranks, USMC enlisted/officer ranks. Get the seperate branches to standardize, and we'd be golden Necros Xiaoban 18:31, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
