Unique Templates

Would it be a good idea for South Africa to have it's own nation templates, unique from other nations to make it stand out? I could make them.

I think that would look pretty awesome. rufushonestly 10:54, 5 August 2008 (BST)
Have fun at creating them.... --Belea2008 Hail eSouth Africa! chew the fat 11:25, 5 August 2008 (BST)

Coat of Arms

The wiki admin edited and changed the coat of arms of South Africa to the logo I made for my newspaper, Jah Exodus. I don't know why... we need to decide on a coat of arms democratically.

I personally think we should stick with the actual South Africa coat of arms. If nobody minds.rufushonestly 10:53, 5 August 2008 (BST)
I'm open to suggestions regarding the South Africa Coat of Arms. I'm not that good at creating pictures... :( :) --Belea2008 Hail eSouth Africa! chew the fat 11:27, 5 August 2008 (BST)

General Comments

For clarity, I would suggest putting mayors on region pages instead of the huge chart on the South Africa page.--Q J Lincoln 00:01, 26 August 2008 (BST)

Agreed, too lazy to do anything.

Put the table on the Mayors of South Africa page. Make a note and split the table in two however because the only region that remains in South Africa is Nelsupruit. The four other regions have declared independence and are known as the Independent South African Republic.

What? You mean the Proclamation of South African Sovereignty?

Was there a problem?

Currently there are 10 Chapters on this page (History, Military, Region, Geography, Economy...etc). I have tried grouping some of these headings into 5 Chapters as used in Beta Erepublic eg. (Society, Economy, Politics, Military, Media). Page reorganization certainly was not complete, and it needed more work, some subChapters may have been in a wrong place...
I am hoping to have Chapters in order they are in the actual game (Society, Economy, Politics...) Any help is gratefully appreciated, as there are paragraphs that do not really Fit anywhere. There are at least 2 different headings on Geography, which do not belong under any of these headings. One of those Geog. headings is in Military (I think)?
I will not be able to complete Reorganization in one sitting. So, there will be plenty opportunities for a comment etc...
I asked for assistance on 19th Sept., have received no reply. (Except for Undo of Work in Progress on 21 Sep. --Hrvat talk</small> 10:43, 21 September 2008 (BST)
Like I said, organize sections the way they are done on a wiki: South Africa on Wikipedia
Rasta Lion Esteban Rasta Lion Delgado Rasta Lion 00:40, 22 September 2008 (BST)
South Africa on Wikipedia has 13 Chapters most of which have nothing to do with Erepublic. I still feel that Erepublic Wiki Chapters should follow Chapters as used in the game (Beta now and V1 later). Most other Erepublic Wiki Countries follow Chapters as used in the game.
-Are we going to use the Official Coat of Arms as well?
-Chapters as currently used in Erepublic are: General, Society, Economy, Politics, Military and Media. --Hrvat talk</small> 02:36, 22 September 2008 (BST)
No, most countries have a disorganized way of putting sections up. I have OCD, so everything has to be organized perfectly and uniformly (hence why I always organize categories and sections on pages). Everything in the real wikipedia can be converted over to Erepublik wiki (except it will have it's own unique history and everything plus any other subsections.)
   * 1 History
         o 1.1 Prehistory
         o 1.2 European colonisation
         o 1.3 Independence
         o 1.4 Democracy
   * 2 Politics
   * 3 Foreign relations and military
   * 4 Provinces, districts and municipalities
   * 5 Geography
         o 5.1 Flora and fauna
   * 6 Economy
         o 6.1 Electricity crisis
         o 6.2 Agriculture
   * 7 Demographics
   * 8 Society and culture
         o 8.1 Religion
         o 8.2 Languages
         o 8.3 Sports
   * 9 Current issues
         o 9.1 HIV/AIDS
         o 9.2 Crime
         o 9.3 Skills migration
   * 10 See also
   * 11 References
   * 12 Further reading

And yes, using the real South African coat of arms sounds like a good idea... I don't know why somebody put my own newspaper logo as the coat of arms. Althought right now, Croatian are calling SA "Croatia" and using their own coat of arms.

I put that Coat of Arms because I liked it... you can change it with anything you like. --Belea2008 10:38, 22 September 2008 (BST)

Regarding the sections - if we leave 13 sections, do we have what to write in them? For example - what do we write in "Current issues" or "Society and culture" or "Foreign relations and military"? --Belea2008 10:38, 22 September 2008 (BST)

They're all pretty self-explanatory. For current events... write anything that's currently happening in South Africa - the current situation. For culture, talk about the uniqueness of our country the way our players shaped it - it's said Pakistan has the best culture in Erep. Surely we can contest that otherwise we are nothing as a nation. Foreign relations and military is also self-explanatory.

But yes, just bookmark the sections and we will add stuff to them accordingly.

I honestly believe it looked better before - less empty. (Rufus)Honestly 02:13, 23 September 2008 (BST)
If a page is filled up with text rather than just an intro followed by a paragraph on language and 18 tables that shouldn't even be on this page... then it will be less empty. I suggest we all contribute information in at least one section.

Tax Template

I've temporarily removed the tax template and have reverted to a table instead until the template is updated with the post-Rising products. - Zamrg 11:40, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Embassy and Ambassadors section removed

I've removed the Embassy and Ambassadors section since it's just a link to a single page, Ambassadors of South Africa, which was never kept up to date. I'd even suggest that the page be removed since that's a heck load of information to keep updated every month. - Zamrg 16:45, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

History of South Africa

I've split the History of South Africa article into multiple ones separated by year due to the length of the original article.

These pages need a ton of work.

  • wikifying links
  • proof reading - there are lots of factual mistakes (eg: it says I came from the US)
  • re-writing sections from a neutral perspective
  • giving pages a standard format
  • adding all references, there are practically none
  • writing history for Feb 2010 - Nov 2010 (includes Great Southern War)
  • creating 2011 page and adding first few months
