The Canadian Progressive Front is a right-wing political party in Canada. It is noted for being the first right wing party formed after the liberation of Canada from PEACE.

History

Formation

The Canadian Progressive Front's roots can be traced back to mid 2008 during a period known as the 'NorseFire Revolution', after the USA-Canada war decimated a large portion of Canada's economy. The President and his cabinet had until then only been focused on military and foreign affairs matters, offering few social services or economic plans. The result was increased demand for government involvement in different aspects of Canadian society, a move spearheaded by the Norsefire Party, created by former president Adam Sutler. The party dominated Canadian politics in mid 2008, attracting members that would eventually have a hand in creating the modern Canadian Progressive Front, including Banach, Gofarman, Bruck, Tantis and others.

The party was re-branded the Canadian Progressive Front (an earlier use of the name) by Banach on October 8th, before the faltering party was entrusted to Augustus Baldwin in January 2009, who renamed it the Canadian Empire Party and made it a state first, military oriented party. Unfortunately, CEP along with all of Canada's other parties were lost when Canada was conquered by France in World War III.

The modern Canadian Progressive Front was founded by Banach after the liberation of Canada. Banach had been leading a resistance movement known as the CRM (Canadian Resistance Movement) based in Spain when he decided to move back to Canada and create the party, long after the reformation of the other parties. The party attracted old faces from all of CPF's older forms, though eventually they would leave the game or switch parties, leaving control and leadership to players who hadn't been actively involved in the parties older reincarnations. This gives the CPF the interesting dynamic of having a rich history while also under the leadership of new faces with new ideas. Though Banach founded the party, the first party president was Tyler F Durden, who lead the CPF from August 2009 to February 2010, when he did not choose to run again. Tyler continued to be the party's icon until he passed away in May of 2010.

The CPF regularly dominated congressional elections throughout Tyler's reign as Party President, gaining the most seats in congress every month while he was Party President. This is largely credited to the parties active strategic voting network, which allowed it to easily top other party's efforts, especially the much larger Democratic Action League, who's extensive membership was unable to be utilized in an effective manner to combat the CPF. The party received criticisms from rivals who accused it of subverting Canada's democracy. However, strategic voting is now an accepted part of Canadian politics, practiced among all parties. The CPF's dominance of congress continued under Addy Lawrence. The CPF's paramilitary force, the Praetors were also created in 2010 as a means to provide activity for the CPF's members while assisting the party and Canada at the same time.

Decline

The abrupt end of jbdivinus tenure as party president on July 1 brought with it a chaotic era for the CPF. Pimpdollaz was selected by the game as Party President and proceeded to purposely destroy the CPF's image and leave it virtually leaderless. This would repeat itself for a third time (pimpdollaz also took control after Acacia Mason quit PP in February 2010) when Crazymofo13 quit after a dismal congressional performance. Between July 1st and August 16th when Addy Lawrence resumed control, the CPF's performance in congress became very weak, the official website was wiped clean and the leaderless party switched to a new one. The party's IRC channel was compromised, the Praetors were left abandoned and the party's general population declined as members left because of the changes to erepublik during V2 and because of a rampant leader in pimpdollaz.

Under Addy Lawrence the party's basic functions began to resume as normal, however some problems from the party's inactivity and a competitive political field remained a problem for the re-emerging party. Addy would be succeeded by eCanada media star, James McNamara who was known for his comics. Under McNamara the CPF's Praetor wing was reactivated under the command of Lise Stubbings and Canada elected CPF Country Presidential candidate Alias Vision on October 5th. With the CPF under control, Funky Hum24n was then elected party president and maintained a stable tenure. He was succeeded by Green Hawk who led the party to a revival in membership and activity on the forum at the beginning of his leadership. Green Hawk was on track to a complete and stable tenure (apart from losing members gained to a French invasion) as PP before being banned by the eRepublik administrators on the 9th of December. Former Canadian President Alias Vision took over. Long time party member Wilhelm was then elected for two consecutive terms. The CPF continued to lose members to new parties and quickly dropped out of the Top 5. It was decided before Wilhelm's end that Party Founder Banach would become Party President and change the Canadian Progressive Front into a new party. The CPF was changed into the Teneo Fidelis Dignitas party by Banach on February 16th.

Revival

Shortly after the formation of Teneo Fidelis Dignitas, Banach went inactive and the TFD forum was lost. Aeriala was elected Party President soon after and changed the party back to a 'New' Canadian Progressive Front. The logo was subsequently changed and Aeriala launched a successful CP run in May after only a couple of months of being Party President, which involved taking over the Military Dictatorship Party. After this, the nCPF became dormant over the summer, despite a small number of articles, with the membership dropping to under 10. Between Funky Hum24n's Party Presidency from October to January, the nCPF finally started to recover from its year long slumber, picking up new members and veterans like SaraDroz and Wilhelm Gunter as well as others dissatisfied with the poor political variety. Congressmembers were once again fielded and the party was updated under Funky Hum24n through a series of articles, culminating in a merger with the Lemon Party that solidified its growth and a return to the original visual themes. The party regained its Top Five status in May and steadily gained traction over the following months. In August 2012, Funky Hum24n declined to run for another term as party president after almost a year of tenure. Auk Rest took over and lead the CPF for three months, having it become the #1 party in all of Canada, and electing a CPF CP for two terms. Randall Flagg 1999 became PP after Auk stepped down. Funky finally became PP again in February following another term by Auk. Dozzer_x became Party President next for two terms.
