The homepage

This is the opening screen you will see when you first join the game. At this point the game offers you the opportunity to do a tutorial (top left of the screen). This is useful as the user interface is quite complex and there are a lot of mistakes you can quite easily make. At this point, the tutorial is basically a set route which will allow you to complete some early missions, gain some insight into the basics of the game, and introduce some key elements of the game’s mechanics that will be referenced in this guide.

Each of these elements are accessible from the homepage:

1. My Places

This contains all of your things: companies, training grounds, your item storage and other special buildings. In the tutorial, you will learn how to train and how to work. Both of these are essential daily tasks, as they are rewarded with gold.

2. Wars

Located to the right of the My Places button, this is where battles taking place are displayed. There are various kinds of wars, and as mentioned before, not all wars are genuine invasions - but knowledge of this and the reasons why will be explained later on. For now, just remember, all references to fighting, are actually references to wars: as without a war, you can’t fight!

You can find the most up-to-date orders and military information in the Ministry of Defence Newspaper here.

The energy bar
This is where you eat food, or use energy bars, to recover energy

3. Energy

Working, training and fighting in eRepublik uses energy (10 per activity). Over time your potential energy fills up to the maximum amount (in this example it starts at 0/650 and increasing to 650/650). The regeneration speed is affected by items (houses) and by reaching certain milestones in the weekly competition (this is explained later). The total energy you can store can also be increased by items, special buildings, and by buying 'packs' from the game.

You can't directly use 'potential energy'. To turn potential energy into usable energy, you have to eat food or use energy bars. Do not use energy bars. Always use food only when you're a new player. You can also store potential energy up even when your energy bar is full. For example, if your bar is full of 650 actual energy (you have eaten food to fill the bar) the game will keep storing extra 'potential energy' up to the max you can hold in your bar. So if your maximum energy is 650, the game will always regenerate up to 650 'potential energy' regardless of how much actual energy you have.

Confused? You'll soon see how this works when you start playing, don't worry.
