Tip for translating

Hi, I can see you've translated page Citizenship to Macedonian in your sandbox. Could you remove Category:Playing the Game from it? Translated pages should only have the language category, except when a template automatically creates category. You might also want to see page Help:Translating Pages for more information, especially this section. Good luck with your translation project! --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 19:23, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Macedonian

I believe I did everything correctly while translating this [[1]article]]. But it is not displayed on [[this page] page, however. Would you mind taking a look at this, and tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance -- Toneh |Talk to Me 12:39, 10 January, 2010 (GMT+1).

I'm sorry, I should have made myself more clear. By "language category" I meant the category of your language, the second one you linked. So add after the LangMenu. Also, the links on your page don't work properly. It seems to me you've just translated the words inside the link, but that's not the way to do it. For example, if you want to create a link to Macedonian transaltion of National goals, you'll need to add /Македонски after the link. So National goals would be National goals/Македонски of course that doesn't look good, so you can change the displaying word like this: Macedonian translation for National goals which results in Macedonian translation for National goals. A better way to link to translated pages is the L-template which doesn't need National goals/Македонски. So National goals here would produce link to english version, but on a Macedonian page it would link to Macedonian translation. I hope you know what I mean, more information can be found here.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 23:50, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for being a pain in the bottom, but until I get the hang of this, I'll keep making rookie mistakes, despite having read the how-to. Thanks for the detailed explanation. :) --20px Toneh |Talk to Me 01:12, 10 January, 2010 (GMT+1).

You're not a pain in the butt, I'm here to help. We all make mistakes and believe me, you're not the first or last one to have troubles with categories. I made the same mistake of forgetting to remove extra categories, except no one noticed it until I had translated ~20. So it happens to all of us, don't worry. A good way to learn how to make good translations is to see how others have done them. That's what I did back when I was learning the ropes. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 00:36, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
