This article didn't get a major update for '''at least''' two and a half years. Many of the units listed here don't even exist anymore, and even Google can't find them. Welcome to the eRepublik Bar

Remember to sign (~~~~) your comments!

Speech balloon.png What is the bar?

The Bar is a place in which editors can exchange their ideas, or drink a beer.

After introducing yourself at the Community Portal, you can learn what changes need to be made, see what projects are going underway and take part in many active discussions. You are welcome to start a new discussion, but keep in mind that all articles have their own talk pages, and please remember to sign your comments!

In summary, how we treat each other does matter. It matters because, without empathy, our lives are shallow, self-centered and meaningless.

Stock post message.png To-Do list

We need editors and translators!
If you are new and don't have any experience with wiki at all - ask for help in the Bar!
Dear editors and translators, we need you to:

Wiki policy for images

Hello everyone. It seems that we are going to need some kind of images standardization and ASAP. Currently there are 16158 images with no category. The worst thing is that there is no real policy regarding images and this is beginning to be a problem. So I have created a suggestion for it here: User:Andycro/Images.
Please take your time to read it and write your ideas what should be corrected or do you think that is ok and also feel free to propose a naming policy for certain files and additional categories. I have noticed that some people try to create categories like User_Avatars_of_Netherlands, but I am not sure how smart is that. Thank you for your feedback. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 21:40, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

I'd add something for localised images.
--Yamisuke «Talk» 22:23, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
hehe I was the one who added that avatar category of the netherlands. But yes, a policy would be a good thing. --Icon-Canada.png Icon-Netherlands.png Daniel Parker 21:14, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

I updated the policy, mostly some styling, links and I simplified some things in category section of the policy. Yamisuke, I added Category:Localized Images for all images that are not in English language, but with time, we will create categories Category:Images in Italian, Category:Images in Croatian, etc. But I don't intend to create them until there are ad least 10-15 images per language. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 19:47, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Do we really need Category: Images in x?
--Yamisuke «Talk» 01:21, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
At this point no, but in the future if necessary (if there will be like 20,30+ images) we can create them. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 05:16, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

OK, so after the feedback, I decided to update the guidelines. The main issue that I have encountered with files (images) is that people are overdoing it... I know that some people change avatars like socks and this is becoming very sad. One day we will have one citizen that will upload 1 avatar / day or even more... So, I propose that we limit it to 5 citizen avatars in total and one avatar for any other organization. Regarding citizen - one would be main, that can be updated daily and it will be used for citizen template, and 4 favorites that citizen can choose to upload, if he/she wants. Please review the image policy and vote can we finally put it in motion. Voting will last until the end of this month. Implementation of the image policy will start in May with warnings to the people who have more avatars than allowed. Deletion of this avatars will start as soon as they express their wishes, but very probable in June/July as there will be a lot of things to do with this policy.

  • +1 Sad about avatars from my page that have to be removed, but I agree. --Icon-Montenegro.png Bogi | Talk 10:48, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
  • +0.5 Since there is a image history for every image file, I don't agree with the 5 avatars limit: I'd prefer a single image for every user; moreover, a strict naming policy should be forced on avatars to have the same name of the citizen which uses it.
    --Yamisuke «WANNA FIGHT?!» 11:05, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

How to help the beginners

Dear editors, I was wondering how to assist all of the editors who are beginning to create, edit, update articles and templates. What was your help at the beginning, what would be useful for you? Give us (me) a feedback so we (I) could help you and all of the editors who will be arriving here :) --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 18:27, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

I had some experience with Wikipedia first, I remeber they had quite a good article for new editors. But it basically was a 5 or 10 point list, consisting of a mix of do's and don't, tips and tricks. (when to edit, how to edit, tips like signing and talk pages) --Icon-Canada.png Icon-Netherlands.png Daniel Parker 01:27, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
Once there was a wiki mentorship program: I applied after registering to Wiki, then I still had to learn by myself since there were actually noone in office for that. V:
--Yamisuke «Talk» 01:25, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
So either we could restart mentorship project, or we could create easier tutorial for new editors with basics... Or both. Plus, an idea - I would add additional job to our Gucio who opens new accounts - when he is checking is that person real on eRep, he could send him some kind of welcome PM there. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 18:48, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
This is not stuff for Gucio, this is stuff for Admin.
--Yamisuke «Talk» 19:16, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Admin doesn't know that wiki is still alive, so Gucio is our only hope! :D --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 07:54, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
We're doomed.
--Yamisuke «Talk» 10:27, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
As of the message, I generally check those accounts based on what's written in the BIO, so I might not necessarily actually search for their existence in eRep if the Bio seems legit. Whenever the Bio is in mordor or simply makes no sense, then it's checked based on eRep accounts. I can however automatically send an email to the user when accepting the account with some notice/information. I will check exactly what can be used in the message and let you know if few days. --"Gucio «Talk»" 23:03, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

March review / Plans for April 2014

Dear editors, last month I have announced some Plans_for_March_and_April_2014 and put a great amount of time to execute it. As month has turned, it is time to review:

  • Review of Category:Playing the Game and its subcategories - more then 60 % of articles has been reviewed, some of them are archived, some of them are on the list to be updated.
  • Review of templates - took the glance at cca 15 %
  • Review of files/images - policy idea in progress, this will be a large project for me when we adopt the policy, probably it will take 10-15 years to complete the project
  • Review of translations... The list is under way, in day or two I will compile a list of articles what has to be updated. Grzechoo has done a great job here with his list. I have also updated the eRepublik:Wiki Translators Bureau with new info, so it is a decent plays for editors to start.
  • To conclude... I have done a lot of poking around. It is a deep pit and I will create several lists of what should be updated / translated / created. Feel free to take any task of it. I have to thank User:Sre8renica who done a lot of boring job last month, I hope that in this month more editors will join us in doing this boring stuff.

In April, my plans are:

  • Finish checking Category:Playing the Game,
  • Review of rising articles and V1 articles
  • Review all the policies, try to review templates (ad least to get to some 50 % review) and
  • To start my biggest project (files) which will probably deserve a new place in my user sandbox.

I am booked, but I will continue to do all boring sysop staff like deleting pages, reviewing new pages, edits, etc.

If you don't know what to do, feel free to visit: User:Andycro/List or eRepublik:Wiki Translators Bureau or eRepublik:To-do list/Uber Editors and take any task there. The list(s) will be updated weekly (monthly). At the end - I will try to raise some "reward money" to donate in good causes - bringing more wiki editors / translators, funding for some interesting project (creating super duper templates...), but I will give more info during the month. And please, talk, share ideas, problems, suggestions... Lets try to review the wiki :) --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 18:59, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Speaker and Chairman of Congress

Do we really need two different pages for the same role?
--Yamisuke «Talk» 18:25, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

I believe not, Speaker will probably be left standing... I am preparing new {{Jobs}} in my sandbox for all positions, and than I will move/delete/create redirects when I review them all. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 18:48, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
look forward to that jobs list --Icon-Canada.png Icon-Netherlands.png Daniel Parker 06:07, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

For (wiki) translators

Hello editors,
Today[?] the game menu has been updated by adding submenus for My Places button.
Wiki template will be edited as soon as possible, according to the actual appearance of in game menu; however you can already translate its new strings: please read here for "more" informations.
Thank you.
--Yamisuke «Talk» 18:30, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Sysop nomination

Hello, I'd like to notify you that Yamisuke has been nominated to become a Sysop. Voice your opinions here. --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 13:57, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

--Yamisuke «WANNA FIGHT?!» 15:01, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Party titles and alliance offices

1. I suggest we merge all party titles (Councillor, Spokesman, Secretary general and Vice president). All the pages all the same (parts regarding party titles):
... is a cabinet position within a political party. The position is filled via appointment by the Party president..

2. Vice president should be used only for vCP – person mostly handling foreign affairs, but also being important in decision-making in all other state matters.

3. Also, there are many alliance offices with different titles, but there are actually only a few.

Three main are:

  • Secretary General (SG)
  • MoD: Supreme Commander (SC), Military Commander (MC), High Military Representative (HMR)
  • MoFA: Director of International Relations (DIR), Secretary of Foreign Affairs (SoFA), High Political Representative (HPR)

There are also:

  • Treasurer
  • Public Relations Director (PR).

Maybe there are more, I've only looked at ONE, TWO and Asteria so far.

So, I suggest we merge all this alliance titles into a single article – Alliance titles. Or like this:

And the last two are not as important to have their own article.

--Icon-Montenegro.png Bogi | Talk 14:04, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

-1 Although I agree in principle with all of the above, I am afraid that implementing any of the above will create huge side effects.
All citizens love to add titles to their resume. eg.: all party titles (Councillor, Spokesman, Secretary general, Vice president and others) - are videly used and are already pointing to their respective articles on the Wiki. --Sre8renica 23:32, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Military unit and Regiment fields for Template:Citizen

Hi fellow editors,
I'm glad to announce you that the automatic links for Military Unit and Regiment have been removed from Template:Citizen!
Because of this edit, a side effect showed up and citizens pages need to be checked for the presence of Template:! that may show something like Italian Army|Esercito eItaliano. I was aware of this event but we prefered to remove links anyway to stop confusion into editors because of those red links.
I'm sorry for the little inconvenience.
--Yamisuke «WANNA FIGHT?!» 20:38, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Only 6,040 pages to check :P --Icon-Montenegro.png Bogi | Talk 20:42, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Removing of the auto-links from Military unit is a great news. People place anything in the Regiment field, from Regiment name to any version of numerical Regiment entry. And no one could keep up with small MU's being renamed.
"Regiment Regiment|2nd Regiment" -- as it now displays with new side effect is not all that bad. (Undesirable and needs fixing, but better than before)--Sre8renica 23:45, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Unfortunately the side effect of Template:! use can't be fixed so pages needs to be edited accordingly.
Enjoy! V:

Uber Edtior nomination - Bogohulja

Hello everyone. As the number of active editors is in some kind of a flux, I would like to nominate one of the most active editors here to become an uber editor - Bogohulja. He is extremly active on the field of military updates, translation to Serbian and lately even had some interesting ideas and started to clean image mess. Voting will last till April 27. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 10:52, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
