Welcome to the eRepublik Bar

Remember to sign (~~~~) your comments!

Speech balloon.png What is the bar?

The Bar is a place in which editors can exchange their ideas, or drink a beer.

After introducing yourself at the Community Portal, you can learn what changes need to be made, see what projects are going underway and take part in many active discussions. You are welcome to start a new discussion, but keep in mind that all articles have their own talk pages, and please remember to sign your comments!

In summary, how we treat each other does matter. It matters because, without empathy, our lives are shallow, self-centered and meaningless.

We need editors and translators!
If you are new and don't have any experience with wiki at all - ask for help in the Bar!
Dear editors and translators, we need you to:

Image policy addition

As you already know, last year we adopted an awesome Image policy which set some important naming rules for avatar files, which helps a lot in making some rules about putting pictures on the wiki. But, I would like to propose small adition to it for the part of Category:Game Icons. Icons uploaded are named differently so it is quite a mess there. Especially in the Category:Politics Icons, where you have 3 different naming types, then followed by Category:Missions where there are 4 different types of naming, of course Category:Decoration Icons are even worse as I don't know is there any naming type here. Category:Building Icons started to follow some naming rule, but then the rule just dissapeared and of course Category:Achievements has the same problem with naming... And this is just which I noticed and what is actually in categories, because stuff that are not in the categories are usually 456f645ffdg4ad65g4a45d4f45a6s6.jpg

So this is the problem, now what is the solution... Simple, making a rule easy to follow, and I have three of them, but if you have any, feel free to write it down

  1. Icon - What is it - Name of the Icon (Example: Icon position party member.gif, Icon rank World Class Force*.png; most of the old files are categorized like that)
  2. Icon - Name of the Icon (Example: Icon - Aluminum.png; Buildings and Resources are done like that)
  3. Name of the Icon (Example: Employee.gif - only really new images are done like that.)

For the missions, I think that adding number (if applicable) after the name would be useful if there are more than one part of the same named mission. And also think about should all letters be upper cases or lower (except first one which has to be upper) cases. Please vote by writing the number of rule solution which you like and letter option (Examples: 1-upper; 2-lower, 3-I don't care. You can vote for all of the options, as I would really like to hear your opinions. Voting templates can be found here. Thank you for your time. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? +1 1-lower. --Icon-Montenegro.png Bogi | Talk 13:47, 7 April 2015 (PDT)
Well if nobody will say nothing about it, I will start doing the randomly updated icons than like first example mentioned, as that one is the only one that got some positive votes. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 16:23, 8 June 2015 (PDT)

War pages and maps naming rules

I just made page Bulgaria–Peru War, but then it occurred to me that there might be more wars of Bulgaria and Peru in the future. So in order to avoid future article renamings, my proposal is to name wars like this: AttackerDefender War (Month Year). For example Bulgaria–Peru War (February 2015). Or if it's bigger war, (Alliance) invasion of Country/Region (Month Year) (Asteria invasion of Chile (February 2015). For world wars it's obviously not necessary.

Also, use N-dash – or maybe even M-dash — instead of hyphen -.

As for war maps, should be named: File:Map-War name.png and put into Category:War Maps. --Icon-Montenegro.png Bogi | Talk 14:10, 10 April 2015 (PDT)

Several keyboard layouts only can easily let people type hyphen instead of other dashes that should be retrieved someway; there's no point in using something difficult for the majority of editors.
About the whole naming policy proposal for wars, it may be a good idea instead of using ordinal numbers that may result pointless since there may be countless wars; time reference is way useful than the order of wars; anyway, I'd use a shorter notation for time (e.g. Feb 2015, Feb 15 or even 02-15) and maybe for countries too according to this table.

What I have reached so far is: name page with N-dash and create redirect with hyphen, like they do it on Wikipedia. I have made Category:War Maps, which contains 130 images atm. And for naming, I think it's best to use Feb 2015, others are too short imo and we don't even use 02-15 date format on wiki, since it can be confusing sometimes (for example 10-11 could be interpreted as both October 2011 and November 2010). --Icon-Montenegro.png Bogi | Talk 03:10, 17 April 2015 (PDT)
You and your redirects. Why are you complicating stuff. Make it simple. Normal dash, Map-Name of the War (Month Year), just like you did here File:Map-Asteria invasion of Chile (February 2015).png. The perfect thing is that it matches the war naming rule and it is really simple to follow. All of this shorten month (Jun instead of June?) and different dashes, it is just to complicated. There are already to many of different naming rules, to confusing. Just my opinion. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 10:42, 17 April 2015 (PDT)
-1N-dash?? hyphen?? What are they? Please, please keep it simple. There is no point using Wikipedia examples. This is NOT Wikipedia. We cannot compare in editor-power. For many of our editors this is their first venture into the online-pedia. Simple rules = less repair edits.
+1 Keep it simple. Normal dash, Map-Name of the War (Month Year) --Sre8renica (talk) 16:30, 17 April 2015 (PDT)
Well, n-dash should be used according to grammar (in both English in Serbo-Croatian btw), but I guess I'm the only grammar nazi here Sad.png --Icon-Montenegro.png Bogi | Talk 15:08, 18 April 2015 (PDT)
