Tutorial for Wiki and a contact address

I started off to help this community happily, but unfortunately I do not have much experience with Wiki's. Can I get a MSN address or a contact that I can easily reach to someone who is a Wiki Guru (like Q J)? Also would you agree with me on the fact that a tutorial for using the Wiki should be improved for new Wiki users? Like I don't know how to redirect a page! -- Riza Karabasan Turkey suck my balls! 21:51, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

I think this should go at the bottom, use the + on top next time. You can always look in the Wiki help category. It's sometimes hard to find but it is there. A redirect to lets say Wiki would go like (#redirectWiki), without the crickets. --FrerkMrgreen.gifTalk with me! 06:40, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Alright that didn't work.. If you have IRC, go to server irc.rizon.net and the channel #wiki --FrerkMrgreen.gifTalk with me! 06:42, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

There are already a lot of help features for new wiki editors.

 • HELP (linked to Help:Contents is listed on the side bar on the right side of the page. When you click that, there is a menu on the LEFT side with various help items.
 • A link to Templates is also on the side bar.
 • There is also a eRepublik Official Wiki:Citizen Page Tutorial that is linked in your new user message. This tutorial shows all of the basics of wiki editing, including redirects. The idea is to learn while doing.
 • There is also the Wiki Chronicle. This is my newspaper that gives wiki tips to users.

You guys should be thankful, the wiki didn't have 1/4 of this information on it when I started in the summer.... --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 00:04, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

LangMenu in Cat

We propose the following improvements:

What do you think? --Admin 14:14, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

I love it--AndyCro Croatia If you have a suggestion... 14:54, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Good. I have been slowly working on adding the language categories to pages. It is slow work. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 18:51, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Categories for Translated Pages

To help readers find pages in their language of choice easier, we have instituted a new set of language categories. Authors must manually enter the category that says the name of their language on the page. It is easiest to add the category right after you place the Language Menu at the top of the page. For example, when translating a page in Polski, I would type LangMenu at the top of the page and then continue with translation. This will ensure that my page will appear in a category with other articles written in Polski.
Any Questions? --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 03:49, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

OK, but do I have to put, for example, on Congress_elections/Hrvatski LangMenu or LangMenu or is it the best to put LangMenu . Politika means Politics on English. --AndyCro Croatia If you have a suggestion... 20:25, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Croatian pages are a bit different because you have translated so much and have categories in Hrvatski. If Politika is a subcategory of Hrvatski, then technically you only need Politika. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 03:30, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Disambiguation Pages for non-English languages

I was wondering does translated disambiguation pages have any sense? Disambiguation happens when you search for a world like Company and then wiki gives you multiple choices. On Croatian company = tvrtka. But if you search for Tvrtka on wiki, you won't find Disambiguation Page about tvrtka. Why? Because Disambiguation Page tvrtka can be found only if you search for Company/Hrvatski. The point of my wondering is - do we really need to translate Disambiguation Pages and does that have any sense? --AndyCro Croatia If you have a suggestion... 08:24, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

No, it does not make any sense to translate disambiguation pages. Disambiguation pages are for when a topic could refer to more than one thing, for example, Lhasa could refer to a citizen named Lhasa or the capital of the region of Tibet. Since the words in another language won't be the same, there is no need to translate. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 03:24, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Lidoxa asking to move this into the regular namespace. —User:NicolaeCarpathia | PEACE Global Community | Talk 20:31, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Please see eRepublik Official Wiki:Bar/Debate 10 about religions. All discussions about religions should be held there. For now, almost all religions have been moved out of the main namespace due to a lack of policy. (People have been creating religions willy-nilly anytime they feel like it.) --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 02:41, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
It says in Bar/Debate 10 to request for transfer to the main namespace in the Bar. So that's what I'm doing. Dioism and Churchism are in the main namespace, and I think Lidoxa should be too. —User:NicolaeCarpathia | PEACE Global Community | Talk 03:59, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
OOOPS, my mistake. I have no problems with it being moved back as it had many adherents at one time. However, I thought the religion had died out.... Apparently it has been resurrected like so many other citizens lately ;) --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 04:40, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Navigation

I would state that what I detest about the wiki is the weak menu system. The home page contains like 6 main hyperlinks, each linking to a page with a few more links on it.

The hub of the wiki seems to be very small, being only a bare guide and 'synopsis' if you will for eRepublik.

And yet there seems to be far more information, regarding countries, parties and people hidden away within it. However this information is really quite difficult to access and so I suggest the admin adds in better navigation so that the wiki can be fully explored and read.

Any opinions how to solve this issue? --Geo "Talk Pages" Belea 22:15, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

I found the homepage useless too. I always just use "Search" for what I am looking for (just like I do with Wikipedia). I just think we have so many other unresolved issues right now, that this needs to be put on the back burner. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 02:49, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Portal:Main Page might make it more interesting--Mr.Srachit (talk with me) :awesome: 15:22, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I think it should be split in categories (countries, link to today's date in History, and that the Game Concepts box should be split in "Basics", "Economy", "Politics", "Military", "Terms" and "Misc". That way it would be faster to find important info. --kalamarko92 (vodonoša) - me chat 15:48, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

We should never use Misc. Miscellaneous always becomes a crap category that means nothing. I think the portal is the best direction to go in. But seriously, who relies on the front page?--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 18:56, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

people might start using the front page :P--Mr.Srachit (talk with me) :awesome: 15:17, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Wiki Purging

From Special:Statistics:

 • Registered users: 1,687
 • Active users (Users who have performed an action in the last 7 days): 212
 1. User and user talk pages of citizens with no contributions or with no useful contributions will be deleted by marking them with Template:Deletion.
 2. The Wiki accounts of these citizens will be deleted - using Extension:User Merge and Delete
 3. The Wiki accounts of suspended citizens will be deleted or renamed - using Extension:Renameuser (if a suspended citizen does not play eRepublik anymore and it has a Wiki account, it will be deleted)
 4. The Wiki accounts of blocked contributors will be deleted.
 5. Any contributor may ask to change his/her Wiki username to match his/her citizen name. Any contributor may ask to change his/her username based on other pertinent arguments.
 6. After purging is complete, the team will contact the inactive citizens to ask them for their permission to delete their accounts.

What do yo think? --Geo "Talk Pages" Belea 00:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I have no problem with this, but I have a few questions.--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 02:45, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
What do you consider a "Useful contribution"?
Doesn't this go against the plan of giving EVERYONE wiki accounts?
Belea, when you say that wiki users can have their wiki user account name changed, does that mean you can change me wiki account name to Pierricbross? :D Pierric Bross 04:10, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I agree with this purging, but can I add one more thing? In last few months anyone was able to become an editor, with no limit on editors age, citizen age, his possibilities... Nothing. That increased the number of editors, but unfortunately it didn't increase the number of active editors. Implement some rules. Editing should be honor job, and not some title with which you can brag around and do nothing. --AndyCro Croatia If you have a suggestion... 11:35, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Conquered Regions

I would like to give a refresher on the standard for editing region pages that have been conquered.

 • Add the conquering country's flag in the flag field
 • Add the original country's flag in the coat of arms field
 • Change the country field to the conquering country.
 • Change the first sentence of the text to say: "Region is a region of Country A, that was conquered by Country B."
 • If the city of the region has a different name in the conquering country's language, feel free to add it as additional information, but do not change it in the template. City names were once meaningful to mayors.
 • For neighboring regions, please remember to add the "former region of" designation if needed.

For an example of all of these things, please see Queensland. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 03:30, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Interesting articles

I planned to update some articles, but I don't know how and what to do:

There is no difference between this two articles and there should be a big difference.
Party president doesn't exist. I think that it would be a good idea to create this page to give citizens an idea what does Party President do.

If you agree with this plan I will try to do it, but unfortunately I have a busy schedule in next few days so I will be able to create them in May. So, if you agree and someone else is interested to fulfill this plan, he is more than free to do it. :) --AndyCro Croatia If you have a suggestion... 13:14, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

The page, party president should exist. I am now one so I should be able to document the powers of a party president. I believe that the mechanics of a presidential election from the voter side should be covered on the Voting system (it isn't). Some of the powers of a president are listed on the Country administration page. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 16:24, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

template problem on Croatian articles

OK, maybe I am crazy, but it seems that there is a problem with templates on Croatian articles. Why do I mean that? Because I have translated templates RawMaterials and ProductsNavigation and now it seems that they don't work as RawMaterials and ProductsNavigation on Croatian pages unless I put them as and . I mean, this is not a problem for me, I will correct the templates on the next update, but then some port of this templates are not needed. Can someone check what is the problem. I believe that the problem occurred after wiki update.--AndyCro Croatia If you have a suggestion... 13:44, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Umm, call me idiot, but where is the problem here? --kalamarko92 (vodonoša) - me chat 09:02, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Wait, you can't possibly do that without HTTP referral information --kalamarko92 (vodonoša) - me chat 13:07, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Introduction

Hello, I'm Starks Hayter. I'm an Irish congressman and entrepreneur. I'm just introducing myself here, I plan to be doing a lot of the major updates for Ireland, since no-one else seems to be doing it. I've already updated some of the politicians, as well as my own page. Cheers. Starks Hayter 15:39, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

EDIT: By the way, I was making a page on a bill I proposed, Referendum Policy and Referendum Organisation. I couldn't find a template that makes a box on the side for bills (name, author, votes, date). Does something like that exist? Starks Hayter 15:42, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I think it doesn't, but it shouldn't be hard to made after I finish my "Organization" template. By the way, you should introduce yourself in Community Portal, not here ;) --kalamarko92 (vodonoša) - me chat 15:51, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
