Discussions

Here are some active discussion about wiki.

Discussion 1: Deleting stubs

A discussion with divided opinion. Two persons supported that we could delete stubs - three persons didn't support it. Some points from the discussion:

  1. It's not right to just delete them, it's all part of eRepublik history.
  2. I cannot think of a better way to clean up the wiki than to get rid of pages that are never updated.
  3. Just because no one has the time to improve a page, it does not mean that the mentioned page should be deleted. If we start deleting them, it would be like saying to those few contributors that their effort was for nothing.
  4. Org stubs don't really give much historical information aside from their one-time existence. Companies change hands fairly often.

So no real consensus: let the discussion continue. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 06:18, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Regarding deleting stubs. Are we supposed to discuss this here?

Anyway. Deleting stubs is stupid. It means deleting history. Let's take myself as example, my page has been stub for a long time. For me it is because of some real life and technical problems which I hope to solve soon and be able to copy paste a text that a friend wrote in it. Let's take Person X as example. Person X played during beta. Not many people know him. Someone who knew him, created a page about him. There are not much info no, but atleast people know that persone existed. Deleting that is like that person did not exist.

What harm does it make for stubs to exist? Let stubs be. Let them grow. Sooner or later there will be people willing to fill them out. Maybe somebody in future loves to go through old newspaper articles, and those - believe me - have a lot of information that the wiki does not have.

Discussion 2: Fictional content in user pages

The discussion about fictional content in user space has many good points:

  1. The sandbox is a page designed for testing and experimenting with wiki syntax. However, it must not be used for malicious purposes.
  2. Main idea: if a contributor has imagination; let him/her. If that same contributor wants to have 10, 20, 100, 100, 5000 sandbox pages - the same contributor should be allowed to (the "malicious purposes" still stands).
  3. Players should be able to create their own personal history, religion, clubs, groups, etc. But I think there should be a line drawn when it conflicts with and is outside of the scope of the game.
  4. My recommendation is to use a tagging template system to label content that is outside the scope of the game, or essentially user-created.
  5. I'm hesitant about prohibiting editors to have a little fun with the game by being creative.

No real consensus here either so we'll keep discussion going. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 06:18, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Discussion 3: Flag ball icons of fictional countries

There is over 100 national icons (flag balls) in the wiki. However there is only 69 countries. This means there is about 30 FlagBalls that don't belong to official countries of eRepublik. And also great part of those 30 isn't used anywhere. Here are some comments about the issue:

  1. Just leave em IMO, better to have em and wait for them to become useful
  2. My proposal is: create Category:Flag Ball Icons to put ALL the ballflags that aren0t countries of eRepublik, and keep Category:National Icons only for flags.

Not a huge discussion but I'm favoring the latter idea. Let us categorize Official National FlagBalls to one category and rest somewhere else (like we do with the Flags and Coats now)--Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 06:18, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Guess it's been already done? ||||||Khebit TC| 17:25, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Discussion 4: Languages

Some time ago I was gathering data about number of pages in languages. You can see it here. The data is about one month old, but shows the trends. As you can see, we have completely "dead" languages like Urdu, Japanese or Korean. What should we do with them? --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 15:23, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

  1. I'd remove those languages.--Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 15:24, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
  2. I would remove only articles of those languages, as they supposedly are not too up to date, but not entire language. There might be still some contributors. --Icon-Poland.png Caroline au Marymont|Talk to me. 21:33, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Let the discussion continue on this matter too! --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 06:18, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Translations on alliances

Do we need them?, most of those haven't been updated for about 7 months now, even with outdated tags on them for about 5 months. Well imo they wont give any accurate info to people about those alliances. ---- Icon-Netherlands.png Icon-Australia.png Tim Veltkamp| Nubcakes? 09:45, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Don't agree. Then we can use the same principle for majority of other translated pages... Better to put 'outdated tag' on old articles. --Icon-Croatia.png Dalibor / Talk 10:02, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
there have been "outdated tags" on them for over 5 months, simply enough no one cares about them. ---- Icon-Netherlands.png Icon-Australia.png Tim Veltkamp| Nubcakes? 10:42, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Country pages being out of date

I know this has been a problem on the wiki since it started with pages being out of date and other countries' pages having more or less information then others. I recently checked the Republic of Moldova page and noticed it still has the High, Medium and Low resource table which has been gone for several months. I think we should have a standard template, that information can only be added in those fields and make it a page that can be edited easily depending on what section needs to be updated. I understand countries have History, meaning we can create another page like History of (country name). I think this would really help with people looking for information as well as those who are trying to add it. Icon-Australia.png Mikhail Alexander Talk to me! 00:48, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

If you mean totally standardizing the country pages, and making the totally the same, then I strongly disagree. It is not a solution for updating pages.--Quicksilver 06:30, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
+1 I think that standardizing the pages would be good move, it would be nice that every country has same basic informations, and another page with country's history...----Hurkancs Icon-Croatia.png Say something to me :) 08:07, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
-1 I'm against standardising pages. It's crappy looking at the same thing everywhere and as it is, editors (and different countries) are given creative freedom. - Zamrg 08:17, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
+1 To a basic format, but I would agree that other than the template structure, wiki editors should be able to mould the page format a bit. - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 09:40, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

If you ever go through with this needless uniformisation, I want to save/archive the Hungarian country page as it is now, for historical reasons, and stop updating it/anything else. I simply hate when some poeple want to force everything to be the same.--Quicksilver 12:28, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

+1 I think that standardizing the pages would be a very good move, it could have a couple of modifications, but on the same basis. It would be nicer if it's mostly the same, that way people can be more oriented, so if they see some information in one country page, they can know exactly were to find it on another country page, plus it would be easier to update it. - Ingame54 Icon-Macedonia.png Talk/Makedonska falanga 02:50, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
You see standardisation on wikipedia, in encylopedias, dictionaries etc, because it makes the location of information obvious to the reader. What's your gripe? I think we all sometimes forget this is supposed to be an encyclopedia of the game, not a sketchbook/notepad/diary for people... - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 19:03, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

It is a contribution of people. Different people from different countries, backgrounds, habits and likes. Different views, tastes, and yes, different ways of contributing, writing about a thing, presenting it, shaping it, loving it. I would hate to see this colourful world pared down to strict data presented in a uniform format. It would give you useless, pre-digested data, but it would miss the flavor that makes it all worthwile. There is no reason to make an encyclopaedia of hundreds of useless data about a country. The erep wiki exist to present not the data (that is on erep) but the view of it by the users. --Quicksilver 21:06, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Quit the rousing speech crap; it's just about making a base template for country pages, not killing society and stealing their babies :/ - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 09:13, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Is it a proper argument to call others 'crap'? And no, it was not just making a template, because we have a country page template. It was standardzation ("that information can only be added in those fields "). --Quicksilver 10:33, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Region Maps

With the new battle template there is a need for maps of all regions. Right now there are maps for only a few countries and all of them are in a different design ( [1] ) and it doesn't look very good when they are put together in the same page. I am thinking of making maps for all of the regions in the same design, but I can't decide on a design. I like how these three look - Region-Black Sea Coast of Turkey.png and Region-Jharkhand.png. Any suggestions? Icon-Bulgaria.png V3n0M93 | Talk 13:43, 22 April 2011 (PDT)

If you check my page that I'm updating here, Third Indonesia-Australia War, I'm trying to use the basic map template from Wikipedia, then I get rid of the extra region borders and then colour them in with these colours. It seems to work well because I also did this map, File:Country map-Belgium.png -- Icon-Canada.png Rowan Quigley 17:36, 22 April 2011 (PDT)
We just had this discussion over on Standardising_war_pages, guess we should include it here too. whoops. Anyway, I'm not in favor of every country looking the same, but I am in favor of every particular country having its region maps looking uniform. I have been working on USA, see eRepublik Official Wiki:Bar#Cool_Changes similar to Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, I'm slowly getting to the rest, but there is 50 of em, so please be patient. Was going to try to update each states page as I went, making it even a bigger project. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   20:15, 22 April 2011 (PDT)
I agree that there should be some variety. The maps you are making for the USA aren't that different from the others I posted. The problem is that some maps look completely different from the rest (File:Region-Central_Croatia.jpg or File:Region-Norte_Chico.JPG). If you have a couple of completely different styled maps on the same page, it would look ugly. Icon-Bulgaria.png V3n0M93 | Talk 05:26, 23 April 2011 (PDT)
I agree, some of them are quite ugly. What do you suggest we do? I'm not a fan of the google map versions. I guess if there are ugly maps it would be best to just replace them, but I don't know exactly how to define a "style". My only real addition to the discussion would be that whatever style is use for a country should be applied to all of its original regions. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   06:28, 23 April 2011 (PDT)
Regarding the google map versions..., well, I did that because I don't like simple ones, but I agree that I could had done it better, starting with .png and maybe doing better the borders and such..., any ideas on that?, I don't know, maybe just letting it 'googleized' in the region itself, and border regions just plain?

Gosh, the Mart-signal. I must of been summoned...

Anyway, yes I have been thinking about maps, and yes I have a few ideas. I've been playing around with eRepublik maps since before I joined this site, and that was over two years ago! Gosh I sound old. If you want a map of every eRepublik region, it will take some time, but I will look into it. At the moment I'm favouring doing large, continental maps then "zooming in" on each country/region to make each individual map. Possibly similar to [2], although I won't add the rivers. Let it be said now I favour standardisation over complete differences, but I think some originality in colours etc would be possible per country. I would also note this will use real-life divisions, not the eRepublik map ones which are rubbish in certain places (Germany and Canada especially). I'll look into what I have and make a few suggestions.--Martin23230 08:14, 26 April 2011 (PDT)

A standard Wikipedia map would be fine, something like this [3], its blank, its clean and it has all the regions, if there is countries with less regions then Real life, we can just take the borders off and realign them. Simple! -- Icon-Austria.png Mikhail Alexander 18:41, 26 April 2011 (PDT)
I was going to do more maps for the USA as I was updating the regions that are in-play during the USA-Spain War and Mexico-USA War, as well the remaining US regions (and perhaps Mexico as a green color), but if you guys think a different style is in the works, I'd rather hold off until a particular style or specifics are chosen. LMK. Examples on the war pages, they were originated from wikipedia. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   01:02, 29 April 2011 (PDT)
I actually really like the ones done for Australia, Canada etc - they're easy to interpret at different sizes, and they look good :) Overall, we definitely need to work towards having a unified look for maps though :) In the end, we could potentially just take screenies of the erep regions for now, to overwrite the random ones? Dunno... - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 01:18, 29 April 2011 (PDT)
I'm happy to do a few Wikipedia maps. I'll probably start with the smaller countries and move up. -- Icon-Austria.png Mikhail Alexander 14:31, 5 May 2011 (PDT)

ONE --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 13:12, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
So is this NWO, or a new alliance? Did they change their name? The NWO membership includes other nations. Also a whole new page was made for ONE, overwriting the historical "ONE". But we already have a NWO article. If we want to change the original ONE to another name, then fine, but the NWO article and the new ONE article should be merged. That is, if the two alliances are one in the same. Wish these new alliances would choose a unique name. It is gonna play havoc with the links. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   14:08, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

I fixed it to read ONE, but as for readers looking for NWO and getting ONE ... blame the alliance. Amendment to the Wiki Style Guide - eSouth Africa OR South Africa

LINK: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Help:Style_Guide

I would like to propose the introduction of the following amendment to the Style Guide: usage of "e" in country names is disallowed (e.g. only South Africa to be used; and NOT eSouth Africa). I'm proposing this for consistency. Of course, the naming policy still stands; if an entity contains "eSouth Africa" in it; then it should be left as such. Alliance pages: Should we use full names or abbreviations

  • Voting abbreviations: +1 (votes: 6)
  • Voting full names (with redirect to full name): -1 (votes: 7)
  • Undecided: 0 (votes: 0)

For a long time we have been using the abbreviations as the names of wiki pages. However last weekend alliance pages were moved under their full names. The question is, should we name the pages of alliances using their full names or possible abbreviation names? --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 12:14, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

  • And have for example 'Atlantic Treaty of Latin, American, and Nordic Territories for International Security' as page name instead of Atlantis? No way. --Quicksilver 12:24, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Country pages: Updating the taxes

I had no better things to do so I collected info about taxes and created table with {{Taxes}} for each country (I didn't break the eRep ToS to get these BTW :D). I was thinking about updating every country page with new taxes but I thought it would be vise to ask for your opinion about this first. So, the question is, can I use {{Taxes}} to create the table for taxes in every country page? I remembered that some of you didn't like this template so I thought it'd be vise to ask others opinions first. What do you think?
Voting:

  • +1 - Add Template:Taxes to every country page.
  • -1 - Don't add template taxes to every country page.

I better mention that tax thing isn't automatically updating. Tax rates aren't available in API so we can't make it happen that way. But for this region thing I'm only using basic JavaScript (click a link to page I want to update -- > get http://api.erepublik.com/map/data/yyyymmdd --> create switch code from xml --> save page). Nothing more complicated. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 23:09, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Coat of Arms on Region pages

I've just noticed when the region page is updated automatically by the API, the Coat of Arms isn't changed because of the naming policy and no script going with it. I think we should remove Coat of Arms from Region pages, the country and flag name automatically change, no point having to go around changing the Coat of Arms manually. Icon-Iceland.pngIcon-Australia.png Mikhail Alexander Talk to me! 05:09, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

I just kinda thought they didn't need changing. Even if the region is conquered, the CoA would just stay the same. Kind of a way to indicate it is an occupied territory. Thats how I was thinking about it anyway. Doesn't bother me either way, really. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   05:47, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
If you can provide a list of regions original owners, we can make the Coat change to original owner flag when region changes ownership - if not, show the Coat specified at the page. The problem is that there's no list from which you can see the original owners of regions. So getting the list done would require A LOT of research. But I bet Belea can provide us a list with original owners of all regions (I'm pretty sure they have it somewhere :D). Belea? --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 08:14, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
I'd prefer the coat of arms to always stay the same tbh, regardless of the occupying country. We can just put an "original owner" row in the infobox lower down? - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 09:23, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Wait? The Coat of Arms is being replaced by original ownership flag? I don't think that was agreed to. In fact, previous comments indicate consensus otherwise. You're jumping the gun. Besides, it looks kinda weird. I'd recommend a separate field for original ownership, perhaps part of the content lower down under Society or in its own section. Also, in the USA many identify with our state flags, they are a big part of each states identity, so it may be the same for Coat of Arms, which we don't have. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   20:13, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
The "when region changes ownership --> Change Coat to original owner flag" policy has been around longer than me (and I've been here for almost 2 years). So we're not jumping a gun here. If you want this to be changed, start a new discussion about it. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 18:25, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
Well, that's kind of weird seeing as how when this discussion opened up it wasn't in play. I see no need to open another discussion seeing as how this one would suffice. Please direct me to the policy guideline you mention. Either way, being a currently owned and original region was showing two of the same flags side-by-side (at least it was, but has since been changed back), and it looked very odd. I still recommend original ownership be in a separate row inside the template. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   21:13, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
Help:Style_Guide#..._a_Region_is_conquered.3F. But I agree to your proposal to add original owner row as soon as Belea gives us a FULL list of regions and their original owners. When the original owner is added, you don't need to change the Coat anymore. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 04:00, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Abbreviation Redirect policy

I'd like to review the policy of disallowing abbreviation articles to be made to redirect to full-page names. I'm not sure what the problem is with them? The problem that "multiple entities may have the same abbreviation" can be quickly be sorted with a disambiguation page.

  • +1 - Allow abbreviations (& disambiguations in them for multiple entities using the same abrv.)
  • -1 - No, dont allow abbreviation redirects at all.

- John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 19:09, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Clarify - are we talking about all abbreviations? Alliances, parties, game terms, etc.? There have been many times I am editing and want to direct to political parties using what they are most often called in media and forums. arbitrary example: USWP instead of United States Workers Party, because ... 1. It is called that most often ~90% of the time (at least in the US, though obviously not everywhere) and readers who may want to look that party up would likely just type USWP in the search bar ... and 2. It is easier, and having to type out the formal name is a pain. Particularly when the reference might not be the focus of the edit, just side or related information. Note: I hate having to type Mutual Protection Pact instead of just using MPP (it is a very common term in the game and linking tells newbs what you mean to say without getting bogged down in minutia). Same goes for RW vs. Resistance war. These are basic game terms and endlessly having to spell it out for potential newbs is tiresome. But if someone knows anything about bots, I'm sure converting MPP to Mutual Protection Pact wouldn't be much of an issue. I don't see a problem with disambigs, after all that is what they are for, but I don't think everything should be abbreviated either, just things which are most often referred to in that way (but this is the problem, because it is subjective). It's not cut and dry for me. I feel some should be linked, others to disambiged, and others spelled out. If this is for every type of abbreviation I'd have to say -1, but for some abbreviation types, I'd say +1 to linking them. Please specify which instances you are talking about. One other thing to consider, as a contributor, I would never spell out Military Decorations, Medals and Insignia of the New Zealand Defence Force (which, btw, is spelled incorrectly in some versions of English). I like to play on the wiki, but frankly, if I was writing on that topic and was required to type that out every time I want to link it in, I wouldn't hang around here long. I do understand the concern about allowing it, because everyone who starts a group uses abbreviations and we could end up with long lists. Still though, I don't mind disambigs either. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   12:35, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

What I mean is, allow us to create abbreviation pages that redirect to full-named articles, and disambiguations where multiple entities use the same abbreviation. It could be for parties, militaries, game features etc. - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 13:36, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

+1 Alright I'll go yes for abbreviations, though I think we might end up in the future revising parts of this policy. More information - related specifically to what you asked:
  • no current plans to make improvements regarding what resources are assigned to each region;
  • defense systems - will be removed from the game;
  • hospitals - will be removed from the game;
  • some countries no. of regions will be reduced at one point in time (see the above link) - and with this the world map (again, keep in mind that the Game Design team will try not to touch the current resources system - example: if a country has 8/9/10/etc. regions with a resource, some of these regions will be removed/merged)
I hope the above information helps.

Also, try to add historical importance (in the New World context) to them. A few examples:
Basically, I consider that region pages are "cold" - yes, they provide information - but cold information; a little bit of context would be good.
--Belea2008 09:47, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Anyone have any suggestions on examples of a good ("Hot") region page, preferably up-to-date with forthcoming changes and a good layout? Many still have Mayor data, I have no idea what to do with that, other than leave it in for historical purposes - though I kinda just want to delete it altogether. Unfortunately regions don't seem to have much autonomy under the current game rules, so they are a bit blah (at least the ones I'm lurking through). I'd kinda like to see that change, but the game seems to be moving in the other direction nowadays. :-( --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   10:51, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Media module discussion

Strike out lines were already implemented.

Here's the suggestions we received so far:

  • buttons always go to top rated in the category, even when I'm reading latest news (the icons for the categories should also work as filters);
  • add more precise time filtering - latest, last hour, last 6 hours, last 12 hours, etc.
  • people miss the green "thingy" that leads directly to the subscribed news
  • add a button for "all categories"
  • add "spam" as a category, which cant be used by authors, but moderators can move categories there
  • could you modify the new changes so we can sort our subs (instead of it returning to top rated/category chosen)
  • add "government articles" to the "Battle orders" category
  • make one more - "spam" or call it "not worth reading: :) > and allow people to vote such things > when art gets more then 10 spam votes - then it is auto moved to spam catalog and is auto deleted after week or something like that
  • the default should be the "latest", not the "top rated" (in every category)
  • there should be top rated news of all categories directly at homepage
  • add a notification when a new article (subscriptions) is published
  • add news search
  • an Article of The Day option, similar to the Campaign of the Day, that way the president can put an important article at the front page of all citizens
  • allow the option to see all categories, like the old module
  • allow the option to see the top 20 international, like the old module

This may, or may not, be a workable suggestion (provided this is an appropriate place to bring it up) ... but how about a language filter. Currently the US news is dominated by Turkish language news. Basically this has made the top lists all but unusable and has severally effected many USA players usage of the entire media module. At the very least is has made it much more work to find readable news, particularly for two-clickers, and essentially makes the purpose of the top list more or less void for non-Turkish readers. Also - obviously - makes wiki-updating more work on my end. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   15:49, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Unifying the Country map naming

We've been renaming region maps in the last days and I thought that should we do the same on country maps. I've looked every country page and some names of these maps are quite funny. So I suggest we rename those with naming convention: Map-name of the country.jpg/.png/.gif and categorize those as Country maps. What do you think? Share your thoughts. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 09:48, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

+1 While I agree that a uniformed system needs to be in place, I wonder why we need the "Map-" prefix? Why not just use the country name? I also wonder if they all shouldn't just be .png format. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   10:56, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
Well, changing them all to PNG's require using external software to save them again as png and then to be uploaded back to wiki. And it doesn't really matter: the old syntax will still be used in country template. And why "Map-" prefix: because then we can use Special:MassEditRegex to add the categories or in the future add some content to the file pages if needed (like some more categories). And they're also easier to find then. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 12:59, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
I would prefer Country_Map-{{{country name}}}.png/jpg/gif, as we have maps that are neither Country nor Region that could use Map-... :) - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 13:36, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Wiki of Ireland potentially being abused

I don't want to make a huge deal of this, but Ireland is currently being PTOed, and I believe there are early signs that the wiki of Ireland is under attack. I'm not seeking any action at this point, but I would like to draw everyone's attention to this as early as possible.

Please have a look at the discussion and the changes which have been made to Ireland's wiki recently. (I realize I could have handled this better innititally, but since there is no doubt in my mind that this is a PTO attack, it is very difficult for me).

I would like to point a few things out for your consideration. The major edits which are in question belong to Goku Jones. Within the private Dail of Ireland he has been described by our own Minister of Immigration as a known Brit. Nothing against the UK, but the PTO we are facing comes from the Bremen Clubhouse, a known British organization. This PTO is very open about its intentions and members, and I would describe it's members as trolls as well as PTOers.

I will admit that some of the changes made could be called updates (population, and he added a clip of the national anthem of Ireland), but it is my observation that a lot of writing that I wrote and removed myself in the past to improve the page are just being inserted and taken out randomly. He also changed the headers to a UK style, which I would argue most in Ireland would deem unnecessary.

Although the changes to our wiki appear quite innocent, I do not believe they are improvements. I would also like to point out that the page has been edited to look more like the page for the UK and for the Bremen Clubhouse. I cannot be totally unbiased as I am the major contributor to the Irish wiki page, but I truly think it was much much better before the changes Goku Jones made. Goku also removed a list of known PTOers (which included him) from our wiki. Goku was added to this list because he was allowed citizenship via Tomazim accepting his request after he successfully PTOd his way into congress. Goku is one of three such illegal immigrants, who did not go through the established methods of gaining citizenship, where TD's are told by Dail who to allow, not randomly allowed enfranchisement without investigation. Tomazim can be found on the wiki for the Bremen Clubhouse, and if you read his articles on eRep, his clear hatred for everything Irish is apparent.

I believe that Goku's actions touch on vandalism, and could be classified as "sneaky vandalism". I know I have a weak case as far as wiki policy, but I'm desperate to preserve the future integrity of this small section of the wiki.

I ask for no action as of now, only to make you all aware. --Ian E Coleman

I've left my response on the talk page. Frankly, I dislike your willingness to bring in-game suspicions to the wiki editor community. I think you forget this is meant to be a neutral and factual wiki, and the edits made by Goku have been nothing else. What you are describing in this discussion is a selection of in-game examples, none of which illustrate why the edits were "abusing" the page as "vandalism", whatsoever. - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 06:36, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
As I said, I know I don't have much of an argument as far as the wiki goes. But because of examples from the game, which this wiki happens to be for, I have reason to seriously doubt the good intentions of Goku. Since I see his edits as less than improvements to the page, I'm saying that I'd like other editors to be aware of this and watch the page. I think a case can be made for "sneaky vandalism". ----Ian E Coleman 22:26, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
And I think you just can't get your head around the fact that anyone can edit any article, and your judgement is too clouded by things quite unrelated. - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 22:39, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure that was a very constructive thing to say. Seems like you already said something like that before. --Ian E Coleman 23:31, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
This entire discussion section is hardly constructive, in that you're "warning" people about vandalism which is not. Lol... - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 23:56, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
Recently Goku's vandalization has extended to a political party of Ireland's wiki page - Eire Aonair. --Ian E Coleman 22:24, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
This is a tricky one as we are both personally involved in the events described by the page. Could another editor drop by to review the current page and my edit which has been reverted twice now? My edit updated many parts of the page and has been taken down because apparently I didn't win the PP election (which only impacts one part of the edit) even though you can clearly see the result in game now. Anyway it's going to be hard for us both to be neutral here :) --Goku Jones 23:18, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

I bumped this to the bottom as nobody seems to be seeing this further up. There is currently an edit war on the Eire Aonair (see above), we need another editor to take a look. Thank you!--Goku Jones 13:50, 20 April 2011 (PDT)

<right> tag

Because there are now two semitic languages in the wiki (Hebrew and Arabic), they are both written from right to left, unlike English that is written from left to right.

I ask you to add a tag of <right></right> so we could peacefully understand what is written in Hebrew and Arabic.

Persian (the language of Iran) and Urdu (the language of Pakistan) are also written from right to left. So there are 4 languages that need this tag.
