I must say - very pleasant. I spend it with my better, female, half. Sorry QJ. I just hope that in this one I will sort out all of my personal problems so I could edit wiki even more! :) --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 15:48, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Wiki Awards

No more Wiki awards? --• • <font-color="amber">Prince Terence II</font> Icon-Philippines.png <font-color="#000000">Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! • • </font> 17:27, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

The module is "broken" (as in, the feature we used in order to give the extra storages is not working properly). It is the plan to be solved in January. Have patience, please! :( --Belea2008 19:29, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Change Wiki usernames

As the title says, any Bureaucrat can change Wiki usernames. So, in case anyone's wishes it, leave a message on my talk page. Two ideas though:

  • We allow any Uber Editor to change the Username to anything he/she wishes?
  • At least the majority of contributors must have the Wiki Usernames EXACTLY like their eRepublik Citizen names.

--Belea2008 18:17, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

If someone could change my username to NicolaeCarpathia that would be cool. This username is an ediface of a decadent past. —User:NicolaeCarpathia | PEACE Global Community | Talk 19:24, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
I will do it in a few minutes. Please, be careful that you will be probably logged out and you have to login with the new username. --Belea2008 19:32, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Done. It is up to you to delete the 18 new redirects created and fix the red links. May contribute much and well! --Belea2008 19:38, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Not sure how I'm supposed to delete redirects when I'm not a sysop. —User:NicolaeCarpathia | PEACE Global Community | Talk 19:41, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

I wanted to help as well, so i fixed the redlink on the Uber Editors page. --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin 10:13 9 January 2010 (UTC).

Wiki Tutorial

Help:Contents<--- Can I translate it?, with the obvious necessity of applying also a LangMenu there up when finished. Even if the page is intrinsecally english, not many people around here speak it fluently, with the obvious little problems that it could represent if they aren't able to read this tutorial (just yesterday, I had to give some lectures to a new contributor from my country who didn't known about "Preview" or "L template")..., well, I just followed the instruction, and since I were going to edit it to put the template..., thanks beforehand, --Icon-Chile.png Purohueso (talk if you want) 15:43, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Any opinions on this? Also, announce Purohueso in his talk page after you answer it. Thanks in advance! --Belea2008 19:32, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
I can not see the reason why not, especially when Help:Translating Pages was translated to two additional languages. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 15:48, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Absolutely these pages should be translated! --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 17:16, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Delete Wiki usernames

As the title says, any Bureaucrat can delete Wiki accounts. If anyone wishes, just give me a message on my talk page. Three ideas though:

  • Start deleting Wiki accounts with no contributions (basically, if a contributor has no contributions, it means it has not received the second confirmation email, therefore does not have any access to the Wiki)
  • Decide if any other Wiki accounts should be deleted (the ones with not useful contributions)
  • Start contacting inactive contributors (PMs in game) to see if they wish to keep their Wiki accounts

--Belea2008 18:28, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism or not

I will add a subsection here as I really do not know where to put it. Admin has wrote on Citizen page Tutorial last edit (vandalism?) and he was thinking on User:Dunedan edit of the same page. I must say, as Dunedan doesn't have any other contributions that he in fact wanted to create Dunedan citizen page and that in this case this was not an act of vandalism, simply an act of no-wiki-exp. Just my humple opinion. P.S. I added that data to the Dunedan page with coresponding templates. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 15:59, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Wiki-noobitis. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 17:15, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
I think Admin was talking about the little test link there for some reason. I thought someone may have been working on something before Dunedan's edit, so decided to let it be.--Endy Proud to be American chat 15:03, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

File usage in signatures

I think we should forbid it. Look here: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Special:WantedFiles --- all these files have been deleted; they were used in editors signatures; they signed their comments in talk pages; and now we have a lot of red links. For example, the first one - Italy.jpg - is there because it was used by MiniBill in his signature for a log time. --Belea2008 21:26, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Nah, it's not so tragic. It's just my sig that kills. I must rewrite the bot one day or another to do tasks like this one --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 13:52, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Minibill, so when are you going to make me a bot to automate changing links? It is really needed? --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 17:15, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Implementing NEW LANGUAGES - what are the criteria

OK, we have to write the criteria because this sentence is bugging me

To have a new language added to the wiki, please contact sysop Andycro to find the criteria.

What are in fact the criterias for adding new languages? Because in the last month and so I have received several requests - Macedonian, Breton, and now Latin. There is no point for having a major discussion for every of it so lets create the official criteria which will be added to the Help:Translatin Pages article.

My recommendations:

  • Ad least 20 articles translated to that language (The translations should be on user sandboxes)
  • Ad least three active translators for that language
  • Prove that the eRepublik community has ad least active 100 citizens (link to the national forum, chat, etc, where the people use that language and the number of the members is higher than 100)

Please, leave your suggestions so we could implement this addition to the policy so the people can start translating for the new languages. Thank you. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 17:22, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Will this affect already existing languages that don't meet these requirements? KristofferAG Icon-Norway.pngwhisper 10:20, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Probably not. What languages where you thinking about anyway? --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 10:51, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
None in particular. I just don't think that for example Norwegian would meet the second requirement, as I am, as far as I know, the only active translator. KristofferAG Icon-Norway.pngwhisper 13:02, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
No, this is about implementing NEW languages. Unfortunately all of the old languages lose by time their active languages. I believe that MiniBill is one of the rare Italian translators, as I am, unfortunately, becoming the sole protector of Croatian translations. :( But, starting to translate the languages is a big project and it is almost imposible to start alone. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 13:08, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
I think the active Italian translators can be counted on the fingers of one hand --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 13:12, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Same with Polish. Me, and a few newbies who don't know how to write articles correctly (suffix etc.) --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo (his discussion) 13:03, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Andycro, I like your suggestions. I would like to add... At least 20 articles from Category:Playing the Game translated to that language. Cannot be a dialect or Mutualally intelligible] as a language already in use. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 15:34, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, this Mutual intelligibility is great thing... We could also create language icons based on it (For example, Croatian and Bosnian flag could go together). Any other condition? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 19:14, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
All sounds good to me. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 19:42, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Exceptions

And yes, there should not be any exceptions... But there are always something special... I got a request for Latin... This is dead language, should we aprove something like that, or should we only be based on RL alive languages? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 19:14, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

I believe there are only a very few players (if at all) who can speak dead languages. I don't think we should allow them in Wiki because nobody really needs them. It wouldn't make anyone's life easier even if some articles were available in Latin. If you can speak Latin, you can also speak another language that's probably already available.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 19:42, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Example for implementation

So our Macedonian friends would like Macedonian on wiki. OK, lets see do they have all conditions. I will let them here to fill out the application

So this is the way that new languages will be implemented in the future. If all conditions will be correct, the language will be implemented. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 18:00, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

I have added messages to the 3 translators on their talk pages to alert them of this news. And I have added the criteria to Template Talk:LangMenu. I have removed mention of Andycro's name on the Translating Pages page. People who want to add new languages to the wiki should go to the Talk:LangMenu page. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 21:27, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Ok great, now we will finish with that. Thanks.--Martin Davitkovski20px 00:43, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

WOW! Quick work! as of now we are up to 17 pages! Looks like we have more than 3 dedicated Macedonian editors. Can one of the other Sysops add Macedonian to the LangMenu template Sunday or Monday? --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 03:29, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
It's Sunday, Macedonian added to LangMenu. However I have found a problem. As LangMenu uses pictures Icon-Country.png, we have a different flag for Macedonian than the other languages. There is a flag ball for Macedonia, Icon-Macedonia.jpg which is used in many signatures. If the Macedonian editors don't mind, I would like to switch these two files so there would be appropriate picture in LangMenu, but your existing signatures wouldn't have broken pictures in them. Sounds fair?--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 09:42, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Your wish is my command.

Now, I need someone with the appropriate access to move File:Icon-Macedonia.png to something else and then move File:Icon-Macedonia2.png to File:Icon-Macedonia.png. I could of overwritten it, but I didn’t want to remove the flag image. Either that, or just use Macedonia2 in the lang menu. Not as good in my opinion.--Martin23230 12:54, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you Martin so much! I moved Icon-Macedonia.png to File:Macedonia-Flag.png and Icon-Macedonia2 to File:Icon-Macedonia.png. I fixed the image you posted here and deleted redirects I had to create. In theory everything is fine now. Thank you!--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 13:03, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Navigation Boxes, spacing

I have noticed that the navigation box spacing has gotten really strange see Training_grounds. I don't know how to fix this. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 18:38, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Now it's a bit better. Anyway, it needs a bit more work to get optimal --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 08:51, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Tech changes done

We have installed a reverse proxy in front of the MediaWiki in order to improve the response time and decrease the load on our servers. Should you encounter any abnormal behaviors please let us know. --Belea2008 10:13, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Basic words

Basic words like Train, Work, Buy, Gold, etc... one day could be transformed into something more complicated like Train into Training grounds. I believe, that rather then creating redirect and then deleting it we could create a simple page explaining the basic words and then adding links to the more complicated versions. My idea has been implemented into Train article, so please tell me what you think, is this a good, or bad idea. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 12:37, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

New Uber Editors

According to the process set here eRepublik:Uber Editors, I would like to nominate the following people to be inducted to the ranks of the Wiki Uber Editors:

Pretty much what Andy already said. +1 for Prince Terrence and Timeoin, they both have done awesome work. I remember Malta from the time when I started editing, but he hasn't been very active lately so I'm not that sure about him. Then again, you did make Esteban Delgado an Uber Editor on September, and he hasn't edited at all after that (his last edit can be found from the nomination section from September's Bar). Though he was active a month before it.

Purge

Special:UnusedFiles there is a TON of them. should I begin purging? --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 13:54, 28 November 2009 (UTC) Purging unused files would be very good! Also we need a way to change links... For example [1], we have this stupid redirect, every one that uses it needs to be replaced with "Experience points". Is this possible? --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:59, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Around 50 files is there as a part of cleanup process of replacing national flags with only one official flag. Another 10 files is a part of something that I would call - attack on wiki - Special:Contributions/Lpcyu. Editor Lpcyu has added several RL files to it, changed one wiki article to put his RL things online. What about other 500 files that are in it... I do not know. Whatever you decide, it is good for me, but I will try to take a look can we use some of them in next few minutes (if we can, I will use them!). --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 17:19, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

I have managed to gain some free time and reviewed some files. 83 files have received deletion templates and 3 files have been integrated in existing files. Also, I have send Belea warning about Luziferes page blanking. This could remove 5-10 articles from this list if articles will be undeleted. Still, there are around 500 files to review. xD I will continue to work on it when I catch the time, so anyone else can start working on Category:Stub or Category:Outdated.--AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 17:28, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Additional 6 files reviewed - 2 of them were integreted in NEW articles, 4 of them are scheduled for deletion. I would ask that our Admins now review deletion requests and remove files with that template so I can continue working on this task because it would make my task easier. Also, while you are removing this files, please review this also (last point - Luziferis). Thank you. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 17:43, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Portuguese & Brazilian Portuguese

I think it is time that we have a true discussion on keeping these separate. Yes, the majority of the articles are in BP, but the game translation is P. So why don't we combine everything under P? According to what I have read, the major differences come in SPEAKING not writing/reading. So can some Brazilians/Portuguese people weigh in on this? (We (by "we" I mean User:Martin23230) can even give you a split Portugal/Brazil flag for the icon :D ) --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 17:31, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

I can give you a split Portugal/Brazil flag for the icon ;). Seriously though it is a good idea.--Martin23230 17:48, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
There, I fixed it. :D--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 19:26, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

QJ, lets sort this out by publishing an article in Brasil and Portugal. Could you publish it with the wiki newspaper? I have wrote an article, just use edit article, than copy and paste it to your article. OK? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 11:34, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Done! --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 16:25, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

There's a slight written difference, sometimes noticeable both for Portuguese and Brazilian readers. Brazilians use somehow a different phrase conjugation (and some different words) that's only more visible in informal writings. In formal articles the difference is quite small. It all depends on the page translations in question, I would have to analyze each one of them to see if it's worth to have both PT-PT and PT-BR versions. Considering wiki language is somehow formal maybe it won't be needed to have both versions. --Arthk

Dear coleagues of Wiki: You are having an idea of Portuguese that is not the correct. We have great differences between Brazilian Portuguese and our mother land's Portuguese. Let's read some comments about this: Jazar, our current President, said that "we have some expressions here in Brazil that are not used there". Welington, a eBrazilian citizen, said: "Our languages are very different, the expressions, some words, lots of things. We can read the portuguese, but is kind of different". Assato, eBrazilian citizen: "the wiki would rapidly become mixed with both types and that would be inconsistent and a little disturbing". Cavalcanti, eBrazilian Citizen, about the unique version of Wikipedia in Portuguese: "The wikipedia in the Portuguese language, also called the Lusophone Wikipedia, is for all speakers of Portuguese, whatever variant they use. Consequently, change the variant 'A' to 'B' is not welcome, because it means a lack of respect for the former editors". The eBrazilian People comments are not enough? Please, click in these links and read about the subject better: http://www.websters-dictionary-online.org/definition/BRAZILIAN+AND+EUROPEAN+PORTUGUESE http://www.necco.ca/faq_european_brazilian_port.htm http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=pt-BR&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fpt.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FWikipedia%3AVers%25C3%25B5es_da_l%25C3%25ADngua_portuguesa&sl=pt&tl=en Regards, ---Sergio Itagiba

This is consistent with the feedback on the newspaper articles. It seems that it is confusing to mix the two. So I think that our best plan is to stick with both Portuguese and Brazilian. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 22:39, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
You see QJ? Publish controversial article and you will get an answer in record time. :D
I agree, after all feedback on articles and here, we should let the two languages separate. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 12:47, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Ends and Beginnings

2009 brought some drastic changes to the wiki. It has grown exponentially in content, quality, and in editors. We now have pages translated in over 20 languages. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this wiki, you have provided a great service to the community.

But, this is no time to rest on our achievements. I have some goals that I would like accomplished in the next few months and I need your help!

  • Implementation of naming scheme - last month I released a naming policy and a lot of pages were moved/redirects made. To further this implementation we need a creation of a bot that can automate the changing of certain wiki links.
  • Implementation of new templates - we have been discussing new templates for a year. What does it take to finish these? I need our best and brightest wiki gods to resolve this so that we can move on. Let's stop talking about it and DO IT!
  • General Housekeeping - Check out the ongoing tasks in the To Do list above. Stubs, Lonely pages, and Translations, are a never ending battle, but the numbers are too high. I need a commitment from editors that they won't create half-assed pages and I need people who will take some time to add images, links, etc. to complete these pages. If pages are about citizens that didn't really accomplish much we can choose to delete the page. I think it is time to get brutal.
  • Template Organization - We have a lot of templates in the system that are no longer in use, not needed, or are "personal templates." I would like help from the Engineers to weed out those that can be deleted and categorize the remaining ones.
  • Reworking of Category:Politics - I don't like the way these pages have been created, I think some of them are very confusing and information is spread out over too many pages. Any one who wants to work on this with me, let me know.
  • Increased Awareness/Education - I am trying to do this through my newspaper Wiki Chronicle. But I can't force people to read it or the Help pages or policies here. I attempted a wiki mentorship program last year that fell flat. I need ideas on how to spread the word to inexperienced editors on the guidelines so that others do not have to follow behind and clean up the mess.
  • Identify new Sysops and Uber Editors - Currently we have 3 active sysops - me, User:Andycro, and our newest addition User:Kuhaa. We need more people knowledgeable and experienced that will help with the maintenance of the wiki and heading new projects. We also haven't named any new Uber Editors in awhile. If you are interested, please let me know.

Thanks again for your time and feedback. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 19:43, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

I suppose I could help with templates, somewhat with housekeeping, template organization, and being a new sysop (:smug:) when I find the time. Which won't be often, but I like to think that when I do find the time I have something worthwhile to contribute. —Nicolae Carpathia | PEACE Global Community | Talk 06:53, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Naming: I've decided. Today I'll get the bot up & running. Just ask and all your desires will become reality
New templates: I think they're mostly done. IMHO we can begin by moving the new citizen template to {{ICitizen}}, and see what happens
Housekeeping: I too had the feeling that it's time to get brutal (e.g.: stub for months + citizen dead = delete page on the fly)
Template organization: I can do a bit of that
Education: That's the hardest part. We need a need new wiki-generation.
Power: If we want, in a near of far future, to spin off some languages to sub-wikis we must find new admins for them. AND we should start thinking about some power structure description, like: who decides what, who is in charge of what, etc.

  • Increased Awareness/Education - I'd like to comment on this one. Do we know how many people actually read Wiki and often search information from here? How many new players actually go through the less often used menus or pay attention to the small icons on some pages and find their way here? I played for a long time before I was even aware of Wiki's existent. There could be more links leading to Wiki in game, and I see Plato every day telling me to visit forums or read the news. Why couldn't he also tell players to broaden their knowledge of the game and come here? We have too few editors considering how many people play eRepublik. About educating new editors, I don't know if we can do much more. As QJ said, we can't force anyone to read the guides.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 11:58, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I have sent a message through Feedback asking for a long running ad for the wiki and a notice from Plato. We will see if anything happens. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 16:07, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
First of all, I must say that I am so proud when QJ mentions my name! Unfortunately, I will not be able to contribute that much these days, but as always, I will be around. I must say that we have done a great deal of work, an our Admin has made one-two mistakes that gave us months of unnecessary work. But, that is part of sysop job. Unfortunately, there is still some kind of regular editor problem named - write on eRepublik bar if you need help and participate in the debates... Only few of us, active, editors are saying what they think. I will only point out the actual stupidity. I am trying to establish criteria for new languages, and the people that request new languages don't see this debate. How will we ever pressure people to visit and write here, I do not know, as well as I don't know why people do not want to read wiki. When I was a beginner, this wikipedia make a great difference for me. Mahh, even when I was Country President, I always had this book called wiki near me. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 19:14, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

WikiProjects

I know we really only have a handful of active editors per language, but can we please unite and put down a set of standards of what each category of article (country, alliance, character bio) should have in terms of structure, content and formatting? Featured Profile.

How do the featured profiles on the Main Page get selected?

The current one was one that had not been updated since September, and thus is probably out of date by now. --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin| Say G'day 01:00 21 January UTC.

Take a look at this list. If you have the time and will, you can review it and update or replace some of the biographies. Or even add some of them. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 12:06, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

New project by andycro: Archive talks

As everyone know, I usually do some crazy and boring stuff which no one elses want to do... So I have a new project and I would really like to hear your opinion - I am planning to move all OLD (more than 3 months) talk in article talks to one big article named Archive talks. As this is not really daily work do you agree that I do this? Of course, this will only effect ARTICLE talk not USER talk. This is my method to decrease talk pages of articles as they should be used in discussing about current matters of an article, and every editor should be able to visit talk list and choose on which "discussion" will he participate. Now, when you visit the list you see 1000 talk pages and most of them are already obsolete. So, I am planning to delete talk pages and move content to the Archive talks while reason would be: Talk obsolete and moved to Archive talks (Archive talks would be a link). As this would be delicate work (deleting pages always is) I will do it completely alone (so no additional work power required - you can focus on your dailly routines and your projects) and the process should be finished completely until May 1, 2010. Do you agree that I start deleting TALKS older than 3 months to Archive talks? Note: If a talk page has already its archives than it won't be moved. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 13:09, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

What would this achieve? To me this seems like a lot of work with little payoff. The talk pages in themselves are a history of how the article developed. I think they should be left there. We have other, more visible tasks that need work in the wiki. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:32, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Template:Congress

{{Congress}} - we should decide what are we with this. This was a quite big project of Mr. Awesome in May 2009, but he is inactive and he decided to delete List of Congressmen; an integrate part of {{Congress}}. Will we (not me!) try to update his work and try to implement this template to already existing congress pages and new pages? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 13:09, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

It never took off, it was overly complicated and unwieldy... and considering you can find this information in eRepublik, we don't need it. It should be deleted. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:37, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

eRepublik Wiki Mobile

Is eRepublik Wiki Mobile possible? I think it would be nice if eRepublik has a mobile version of the wiki. I sometimes edit articles on my phone and it is hard for me to edit when I use the web version in my phone. --• • <font-color="amber">Prince Terence II</font> Icon-Philippines.png <font-color="#000000">Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! • • </font> 07:33, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Problems with eRepublik

Problem with loging on erepublik!!!

Hy to everyone, i really need some help with my problem. For the last five days i cant open erepublik.com page on my computer, and on some of my friends computers too. Can someone tell me what is the problem, my user is Bogi1979. How can i get to administrator and explain my problem?

I have heard that some IPs have been banned. e-Mail the admin at support@erepublik.com --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 22:20, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Regarding this talk page being deleted, couldn't we just make a redirect back to this page and set [edit=sysop] [move=sysop]? Icon-Hong Kong.png - General Jameson L. Tai talk / Commander of the HKSDU 03:36, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Done.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 08:50, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
random IP-bans for people who use scripts - but admins do not say what scripts are illegal. If you write to support, you might be unbanned in the next millenia - instead try to change first your IP, then your router/modem's MAC address. --Quicksilver 10:52, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

GAHHHHHHHHHHH!

I am really really really disappointed and confused with the amount of Category:Formatting, Category:Stub, and Category:Translations pages. It seems that when I look at the list of new pages, I am having to add a notice to 95% of new pages. This has to stop. I need suggestions from all of you on how we can improve the output from new editors and get more experienced editors to finish pages. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:33, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Solution 1 - Put a delete notice on the page immediately, with the notice that if the page is not improved in 7 days the page will be deleted this is a practice done on many other wikis. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:35, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Solution 1 template suggestion User:Andycro/Sandbox. And yes, I am sick, I know it, now definitely I won't be onliny until Sunday... And yes, that is two days away. :( --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 16:39, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Gahhhhhhhhhhh indeed. Me and Andy had a little chat earlier of how to define when a citizen page has become part of eRepublik history and should not be deleted even if the original author blanks it, and I recon someone at least suggested we started deleting citizen pages without enough information on them. I think this is a good addition to the ongoing debate as it seems things are slowly getting out of hand and more and more citizen pages contain only the information we could find out just be watching their eRepublik profile. Actually, some profile pages have more information than the citizen pages they have links to. Andy's template seems fine to me.
Template little improved. Sorry for not having the time to do more today, but like MiniBill, I am little bit busy these days. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 18:36, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
I really don't know how we could improve the work of new editors. We can't force anyone to read all the policies and guides we have here, and they are quite visible already. While RC patrolling I often come up with translations that lack language category, have English categories and have lots of broken links that won't ever lead anywhere. I've left tons of messages to user pages and usually it has worked. Would it be too much trouble starting to leave messages to everyone who create citizen page that's stub and lacks citizen template? It's true we can't start babysitting every editor, but people don't seem to be willing to search for the information themselves. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 16:58, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
If there's a citizen page without proper formatting (like missing citizen template) and I "wikify" the page (like add links and templates) should I remove the Formatting or CPT template from the page? Or should I leave it there so the person who created the page would see that message and learn something from it? But if I leave it there the page would still appear on Category:Formatting even thought there is some formatting on the page. So what would be the best way to deal with these kind of pages? (a little off-topic question) --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 21:36, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Remove the notices they are no longer applicable --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 22:59, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

There should be some criteria for inclusion along the lines of WP:N, but since every profile has a Wiki link and most users come to the Wiki only because of this, I don't see Citizen pages being culled very often unless there's an obvious lack of content. - –Dr. AgentChieftain Flag of the Crescent and Star PPP! Need assistance

Can someone add this template Template:Game Menu to all of the Info and Community pages (including translations)? Remove the image map from the page and then add {{Game Menu}} in its place. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 02:12, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Are all the other pages already done? Anyway, I added that template to all Info and Community pages except Español which had picture from Spanish translation. I believe someone would just change it back to the previous version. Are we going to make a template such as this for Country stats also? Because I had a vision how it could turn out to be. The image maps I've created can be seen here. If we decided to make a template, could it have parameters for the page it would be used on? That way we wouldn't need to create five different templates. So for Society it would be {{Country Stats|Society}} etc. Language parameter would be cool, but I've given up on that already. Of course this would mean a lot of work if/when these menus change again, but I guess I'd be the one to update these anyway. Any thoughts? --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 17:42, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Template Skillz?

Hi. Something has happened to the navigation boxes. Look at the spaces here Hospital, very ugly... Can someone figure out what the deal is?--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:24, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

That is beyond my skills, but I too need help. Today I noticed there weren't many links (if at all) leading to page MrGreen, so I decided to make image map for Template:mrgreen that links there. Pretty clever, eh? However, it turned out this causes line to break, so when I put otherwise working template here, it will appear in a completely different line. I tried looking for a template to help me but couldn't find any. Then I tried asking few buddies at IRC but nobody replied to me, and finally I googled myself trying to find some kind of reverser br-tag but found nothing. Is there a way to keep that green face where it belongs, or do I have to give up on this? Thank you. Oh, QJ's problem is priority number one, I am still trying to figure this one out. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 21:56, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
