NEW TO THE WIKI?

Look to your left at the side bar...

--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 19:17, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Issues from May

These are issues from May that need to be resolved:

  • United Netherlands, pages for Netherlands and Belgium need to be changed to reflect the precedence of peacefully merging countries.
  • Too Many Parser function calls on pages that use ICountry
  • Fix issues with the translated versions of the Citizen Page Tutorial
  • New Wiki Order - an update on what happened in May NEW WIKI ORDER.

Important things from June

If you see discrepancies between pages that present the same information, bring it up for discussion. It seems like there are a handful of pages that are very confusing. For 2 examples, see the upper menus from the pages: President or War Tutorial. --Geo "Talk Pages" Belea 12:44, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

The current rewards

The current rewards system is pretty simple: the top 7 contributors every month receive recognition for their work done in the Wiki (in some months, the number can be higher). It promotes competition among editors, continuous editing through a month and the desire of some contributors to give their best and improve as much as they can. But sometimes, not all contributors have the time and willingness to edit every day. Real lives should be and will be more important than the contributor status. Also, collaborative work or random cool and very useful improvements are not promoted. --Geo (talk) 01:09, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

I believe people who have done "very useful improvements" should be rewarded as well. It should be a matter of quality, not quantity (how it is today). --Aryamehr Flag of Iran talk 23:10, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

A new challenge

The Wiki is growing at a very fast pace. Some months ago, I (or any involved contributor) could have did RC patrolling every day without investing a great deal of time. This involved that random very useful edits could have been pointed out very easily and a person could have seen very clearly which are the "normal" (not heavy or uber or continuous) citizens which helped with their "small involvement". The new rewards system should also promote and reward these types of involvements. --Geo (talk) 01:09, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Sounds good! I used to RC a lot too but I haven't been active lately but soon. --Aryamehr Flag of Iran talk 23:10, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

The new system

Based on the above synopsis, I'm proposing the second reward system in the Wiki (which will run in the same time as the first established one). This system should recognize and reward contributors based on the following ideas:

  • Small or major, there are updates in the New World. These updates should be documented and explained in the Wiki. The first contributors which address these updates and write the information in the Wiki should receive the rewards.
  • Big projects and/or ideas require collaborative work. To better understand what I mean, see the Major Debates from the Wiki. They are lengthy, a lot of people have an opinion and the people which do the actual coding (in all cases, no more than 5 of them per case) have to take under consideration all the opinions and to be patient and very open to suggestions and critics. I consider that these contributors should be recognized.
  • Finding and organizing information is a on-going task in the Wiki. There are only a handful of contributors which are courageous enough to rethink how the information is displayed, presented or explained. If anyone wishes to take a page or an entire string of pages to make them more informative, then that work should be credited to that contributor.
  • Last, but not least - any page can be improved so it provides better or more complete information. Let's rewards those which like to help others, but don't have time to do it on a daily basis. --Geo (talk) 01:09, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Personally I deserve the biggest, best and most awesome award ever because I am just so awesome. True story. --Aryamehr Flag of Iran talk 23:10, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

What I'm talking about

There are almost 300+ pages in this category. Any contributor which improves them and he/she points himself/herself out (or the Wiki community recognizes his/her work) in the Bar, will receive a Wiki Reward. May you all contribute much and well! --Geo (talk) 01:09, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Don't forget the Special:WantedPages: nonexistent pages that are linked to from other pages.

  • Category:Stub - is now down to 400 pages. I am trying to edit 3 or 4 pages per day.----Hrvat User_talk:Hrvat 03:12, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Some random thoughts

  • eRepublik:Rewards/2009/June - do not add me on that list, add the 8th or 9th contributor (which deseverses more the reward) and move the list here: eRepublik:Rewards (also, a date when that list was comprised will be useful) - I thought that the text on the Rewards page is pretty self explanatory how things are suppose to go on over there. :|
  • Special:ListRedirects - apparently some persons don't understand what they are for and that creating them out of nowhere and for every little tiny thing is not such a good thing. I think we need a policy or some guidelines for them. (also, guidelines for "categories" will help a certain sysop a lot)
  • some Signatures are evil - okay, i understand the need of (some) contributors for expressing their wiki personas in different ways, but some signatures and user pages are becoming way too much - somewhere in time all signature pages will be deleted without notice. Also, some user pages may be deleted for becoming chaotic/non sense.
  • and some (kind of) good news - I have now like 20 Gold or something; I also earn 0.5+ Gold per day. I have no use for them, so I'm proposing a Wiki contest --- there are there a bunch of links and ideas on my user page - any person which takes one random link and idea and adds it in a friendly and constructive and communicative manner to the Wiki will be rewarded with 0.5 Gold. How it will all be logged (which contributor added what idea/link from my user page)? Simple: after you finish with one, you strike it in my user page and add your Wiki username after it. Any thoughts?

I changed it now. --K3ndu 05:03, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
1.5 Gold donated to K3ndu for the following contributions:
--Geo (talk) 07:35, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I think I am going to have to create a category for these types of pages. Or a notice or something... For "This article came from a newspaper and expresses the opinions of the author." --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 11:31, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
+ Ambassador Program (although it need some more information)
As a side note, the The Swedish Nobel Prize needs the second round of prizes to be documented + a final section on the Hypogeum article about the "last dance" wrote by Emerick.
Another 3.5 Gold donated to K3ndu. I will make some cleanup on my user page in a few minutes. --Geo (talk) 11:40, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
@ QJ - not quite - not all these pages belong in their own page - for example: the "last dance" and history of war pages. I noted them down (all of these articles and the ones that are still left in my user page, because each of them have interesting thoughts to be documented pertaining to subjects that have been already started to be elaborated in the Wiki). --Geo (talk) 12:00, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Apparently, I can't keep up with K3ndu contributions - could someone make me a list (when he or other finish) with what Gold I still owe and what other pages have been created (leave it on my talk page or here in the Bar). Thanks in advance! --Geo (talk) 13:22, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I will take 1 Gold for going through each contribution K3ndu has done and reporting them to you. Deal? --Aryamehr Flag of Iran talk 23:10, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Another 6 Gold donated to K3ndu:

--Geo (talk) 18:02, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

All of these pages need a few things:

  • An appropriate category (so they aren't in Special:UncategorizedPages)
  • proper citation on where the article came from in the game
  • the approximate date on when it is published
  • links back and forth to the author's or newspaper's wiki page (if possible), so they won't be in Special:LonelyPages
  • multi-part articles should be combined into one article.

I think Belea2008 gave away the gold too freely. :( --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 15:14, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

I need help with my signature...

This is the page where my signature is located, just as it is supposed to be. I went into preferences and tried with that, but the best i could ever get was having my custom sig show up but only have the first link work (the second one which should have gone to my talk page did not work even though the text was there). Can I have some help please? -- Adam_West | Talk |  20:06, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

They work on this page, but the one on this page did not. What gives? How do I get it to use the signature from User:Adam West/Signature? -- Adam_West | Talk |  20:08, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't link because you're already on your talk page. There's nothing to link to. —Nicolae Carpathia | PEACE Global Community | Talk 20:34, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Template deletion?

I am now looking long time those templates like Template:ICompany/Hrvatski and Template:ICountry/Italiano and all templates that what are other countries not the default template. Soo try to edit the ICompany template and add info and press preview, soo what you see? Nothing shows up. Is it my problem that i am doing something wrong filling the info or are those templates just useless? If they are useless they should be deleted. Soo fix me if i am wrong, or even delete it then. --K3ndu 06:06, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

This was moved from "Debate". Please, only allow admins to create debates. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:38, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
The Template:ICompany/Hrvatski and Template:ICountry/Italiano are not useless - there are translation of the template Company and Country to Croatian and Italian. In fact, when a person translates the company, country, region, or any other page with template on English, he should in fact put this I in front of the template so when the template will be translated that all information in the template will be on the mother tongue. See Croatia/Hrvatski for implementing the ICountry template. All fields are in this template are on Croatian. Now I can't remember, but there are also some translated articles with I templates where there is no translation. Thanks to the basic I template, they are redirected to the "normal" template. Sorry if this is complicated to read, it is much easier to implement this I templates than to explain them. :( --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:40, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Just as a side note: "I" templates were implemented because I didn't dare mess with the "normal" ones. If they're enough stable they can be copied over. Yeah I know it will be big work. Yeah I know I have to resurrect MiniBot... --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 09:12, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Collapse

First idea - there are five templates for the same thing: {{Collapse1}}, {{Collapse2}}, {{Collapse3}}, {{Collapse4}} and {{Collapse5}}. Could someone please create one single template out of them?
And second important idea - Collapse works - see here: {{Hidden begin}}. That was possible by adding two important classes to MediaWiki:Common.js: NavFrame and NavContent.
So, let the COLLAPSING BEGIN! :awesome: --Geo (talk) 15:37, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

The problem with collapsing headers is the errors caused when someone wishes to edit that particular section. This is what MiniBill and I have been trying to fix; if I were to replace the old functionality with the NavFrame method, we will have the same problem unless we were to remove the edit link in its entirety.
What bothers me is that ED's method works flawlessly with what is now our old system. - –Dr. AgentChieftain Flag of the Crescent and Star PPP! B / C / D / F / P / S 19:48, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Why do we need to collapse headers?
Esteban Delgado

What can we do about underscores?

I and many other players have names with underscores in the name. This can pose a problem when that underscore serves as a space and two players have the same name (one using spaces and the other using an underscore). This is also a problem when making pages on the wiki with their names. The URL uses underscores as spaces, but one cannot "create" a page with an underscore in the title; it must be added independently using {{DISPLAYTITLE}}, meaning that those two players ca not have two separate pages. I am relatively new and have not noticed any anomalies, but I think that there should be some sort of system for using underscores in titles. I have a citizen page, user page, and discussion page, non of them with my actual name heading them. What can we do about this? -- Adam_West | Talk |  04:54, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Maybe we can make disambig pages for these cases for citizen pages, calling the one with the underscore something like name_with_underscore -> name__with__underscore. User pages are more and less a PITA: more for we cannot disambig on that, less for there's no confusion, as every wiki user has his own user page, more as we cannot be sure on who [citizen] is who [wiki user] --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 07:49, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Uber Editor Nomination

According to the eRepublik:Uber Editors nomination process, I would like to nominate User:Hrvat for Uber Editor. His contributions can be reviewed here. Hrvat has done an excellent job cleaning up stub pages over the last few months. He has also done a great job in reviewing and aiding with pages in Serbian and Croatian. He helps when asked or not. His daily contributions are probably unseen to most users in the wiki, but his edits are complete, concise, unbiased, and thorough.
All Wiki editors are free to voice their opinions on the nomination of Hrvat. But only current and former Uber Editors can vote on his nomination. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 15:28, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

War naming

Hello everyone!
I am wondering about something. Croatia and Serbia have started their second war. Can I rename Croatia-Serbia War to Croatia-Serbia War I and create new page for the second one named Croatia-Serbia War II, while making the Croatia-Serbia War disambiguation page for them? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 12:27, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Also, how do we decide who should we put in front, and who in the second place? For example, why this War isn't named Serbia-Croatia War? Does this have some alphabetic rule so we can easier create this war articles, or is it something else in matter? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 12:27, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

I think the aggressor comes first and the defender comes second.
13:41, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Thinking same way as Esteban. Look at Germany-Poland War and Poland-Germany War, these wars are against same countries but different attackers (Germany first, Poland second). Also, look at Sweden-Germany War, Second Sweden-Germany War and even Third Sweden-Germany War, these are between same countries, and the atacker is the same (Sweden three times). Now it should be pretty obvious. I think that we need to write some kind of rule about this. --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo (his discussion) 14:27, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but now look at my problem. In first War, named Croatia - Serbia War, Serbia attacked Vojvodina, and then Croatia attacked and conquer Serbian regions. In fact, both Serbia and Croatia were attackers in this war.--AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 06:40, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
If it is the same continuous war, then it was named wrong and Serbia was the aggressor for attacking first, putting Croatia on the defensive, regardless of where it went from there.
07:38, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
War was started by Serbia? Well, then page should be named Serbia-Croatia War, regardless of who attacked region first. If by Croatia, then create page Second Croatia-Serbia War. --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo (his discussion) 10:45, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
I will double check this, thank you for your info people! :) --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 11:54, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

A Note to All Translators

First written in the Wiki Chronicle[1]
Our wiki is quickly filling up with translated pages. This is good and helpful to the eRepublik Community. However, monitoring these pages cause an additional administrative workload. Here are a few reminders:

Tip for all Users
The "OFFICIAL" information will always be on the English version of pages. When we receive updates from eRepublik on new features, clarifications, or rule changes the English version is updated first. We have no control over when or if the translated page gets translated. You can always check when the page was last updated by looking at the history tab.

Tips for Editors

  1. EVERY person that creates a page that is NOT IN ENGLISH in this wiki needs to read and understand Help:Translating Pages. If you do not understand, please ask. This page tells you:
    1. How to name pages
    2. How to create links (different than other wiki links)
    3. How to categorize your pages
    4. How to deal with a page that is not a translation, but is only in a language other than English
  2. Editors translating the game information pages MUST REMOVE THE ENGLISH CATEGORIES! The only category on these pages should be the category of the language.
    1. Editors translating pages that have one of the common templates on them will have the English categories because the template puts them there.
  3. If you are translating a page and don't think you will finish it in the time you have, you might want to create it in your sandbox. You can go back to it later and then move it to the main space when finished. There are many "translated pages" that are not completely translated because people started and never continued the translation.
  4. When creating a translated page, make sure your links are taking you to the right page, don't link to a redirect. For example, the page is Experience points, the phrases EP and Experience Points are redirects. This means we now have tons of redirects of the various languages for these in between steps. Make your links to the most DIRECT location.
  5. Remember to keep the graphics and formatting of the original page (unless you are improving it). Just because the pages isn't in English, doesn't mean the people don't get pretty graphics.
  6. Work with other editors who are translating in your language to make a combined and constructive effort. The best translations are those where several people have gotten together to share the work and check for quality.

Wanna Earn Some Gold?

I have 2 Gold to go to a citizen willing to help me on a project with categories... Because of miscategorization of translated pages (see above) I need someone willing to help recategorize pages. I need someone to go through EVERY page in the category Category:Playing the Game and its subcategories and edit pages so that translated pages only show in the translated language category.

For example, the page ERepublik/Türkçe appears in the Playing the Game Category. The editor needs to open this page, remove the English category, so that the page only appears in Category:Türkçe.
Another example, the page Turkey/Türkçe appears in the category Countries (a sub category of Playing the Game), remove the "Countries" template at the bottom of the page (and any other English language categories) so that it only appears in Category: Türkçe
PS not picking on Turkish here, they were just the first examples I saw.
I also need you to review to make sure that there are not page duplicates and put a deletion templates on the duplicate.

Contact me on my talk page if you want to volunteer for this exciting (?) task or have any questions. Remember, you will get some gold out of my personal account, raise your stature in the community, and do something good for everyone who uses the wiki. You will also make me very happy by relieving some of my wiki workload.--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 17:23, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Fine, I volunteer. What exactly do you mean by "page duplicates"?
Also, should the language category always go after the langmenu, instead of at the bottom?--Martin23230 17:37, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
can you place language Category NEXT to langmenu, please?
It is so much easier to find... ----Hrvat User_talk:Hrvat 23:53, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm adding 3 Gold from my own coffers to that 2 Gold. Let me know when to send it and to whom? --Geo (talk) 11:08, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Region names

All these regions have broken Wiki links. If no one has time to do it, add the above idea to eRepublik:To-do list and one of the Community Officers will do it as soon as possible. --Geo (talk) 11:11, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

I'll start fixing those. So those pages need to be moved and all links leading to them renamed? I'll begin with Argentina and Belgium and will update here if I have time to do more. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|Talk to me 15:47, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

This turned out to be even more confusing than I thought. I'll start doing this pattern: I search with region's old name, edit every page that has the region name and move the region page to it's new location. Like this some pages will be editd many times but at least we avoid possible confusions.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|Talk to me 16:19, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

...and I didn't get what you actually wanted done, stupid me. :F Oh well, I'll complete doing Belgium and then proceed to do what you actually asked.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|Talk to me 16:44, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
All Argentinas and Belgiums region links in wiki are fixed, and I fixed Brazils links that link to games region pages(which is what I believe you wanted done). I let somebody else do the rest as I believe I've done something wrong and feel like a complete moron. Maybe I should just continue with the translations. Sorry for all the trouble I've possibly caused.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|Talk to me 17:10, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you! But what did you do exactly? :D --Belea2008 10:51, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Don't thank me, the job isn't done. :D And I think it should be done by someone who writes and understands English. I searched every page with region names Grand Chucko, Argentino Northeast, Berlins Cetralt-Region, Flemish Region and Wallonese Region and edited them to their new names(Brussels, Flanders, Wallonia etc). I also moved their region pages to correspond their new names. Because that's what I thought was asked. I also fixed Brazil's region pages to link correctly to game (so for example, Far South links to Rio Grande do Sul). So basically no harm done I believe? Though I still feel like a complete moron. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|Talk to me 07:54, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

For anyone that wants to help, these are the steps that need to be taken:

  1. Find the region page in the game.
  2. Click "What links here" it is on the side bar on the left. This will show you all of the pages that link to the region page. These links need to be changed to the new region name.
  3. Go to the region page. Click "move" to move the page, rename it with the new name
  4. Edit the region page with the new name and new integration link. If you want to add a note that the region was known as X but was changed to Y on 20 July 2009, you are free to do so
  5. Go into the game and create a redirect between the wiki link on the region page and the page in the wiki
  6. Go to the original region page name. It will now be a redirect to the "new page" put a Deletion template on it so it can be removed from the system.

I know the quickest way would be to skip steps 2 and 6 but eventually these will have to be done for clarity and general wiki upkeep, and if it isn't done now, it will probably fall to me to do it.... I am offering GOLD to people who help with this project and do a complete job. If you want to take ownership of updating a group of region pages, please sign next to the country. (the number of regions that need changing is listed). All of the steps above need to be undertaken for each region page name change. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:45, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

QUESTION:
Are you sure of step 3? I had a look at Ukraine, region Galicia (Ukraine).... there is a new empty page already waiting (it links from Erepublik). Here is the new empty Region page: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Region_Galicia-and-Lodomeria.
Am I right in assuming that info just simply needs to be copy-pasted from 'old' Region page to a new one (instead of actually Moving page to a new page)...?? and then follow up step 4,5,6 etc (hmm.., guess not. as the page would have REGION as part of its name)----Hrvat User_talk:Hrvat 02:12, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Galicia (Ukraine) should be moved to Galicia and Lodomeria. A redirect should be created at Region_Galicia-and-Lodomeria to the newly renamed region page. (this is Step 5, creating the wikilink from the game). --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:35, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

QUESTION Re: Netherlands Regions

  • according to Google Spreadsheet Old Regions in Netherlands were named: East Region, North Region, South Region, West Region
  • They are now renamed (in game) to: Eastern Netherlands, Northern Netherlands, Southern Netherlands, Western Netherlands
  • --However in eRepublik WIKI these regions have unique names (well, 3 of them have): Oost, Noord, Zuid, West
  • Should I keep these unique names and change new integration link only OR should I change to a new name AND new integration link?

personally, I would change to an In-game name, but since Oost, Noord, Zuid have been in use for some time.... I am not certain which is the way to go.----Hrvat User_talk:Hrvat 13:11, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

They need to be what they are in the game. I know that creates more work. But these should have never been named this way. Oost = East, Noord = North, Zuid = South. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 13:57, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Let's Talk About Templates

... I don't mean the common templates. I want to talk about some of the other templates. In my opinion, too many templates are being created. I do not see the utility in navigation templates for regions or parties of a particular country. This information can be found just as easily by clicking the CATEGORY that is automatically added to the bottom of the page. Though I appreciate the boldness and enthusiasm that some people are showing, it is getting a bit ridiculous, not every freaking thing needs a template...

  • I want to know, are these navigation templates REALLY helpful to users? Considering they frequently need updates and the same function is provided by the Category.

If more categorization is needed, that can be done too, but with guidance... as there are some over categorizers out there too!
Thoughts?

... Now about the common templates. We have been "discussing" changes for months now. I want some resolution! I will be updating eRepublik:Bar/Debate 9 with information to solicit feedback on each of the common templates. The citizen template is, last time I checked about 95% done. If there is anyone here that has the capability or knowledge of wiki templates, or wants to go study wikimedia for a few hours, we need your help for this project! --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:11, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

... And one more thing... We are getting some pages that are ending up with Category:Pages with too many expensive parser function calls. This is due to there being too many templates on the page. We need to rethink these pages and how to deal with situation so as to not over tax system resources. Read more about it[[2]]--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 15:13, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Most of them are there because the use too much {{L}} which has an #ifexist, which is costly. The solution is to use it less because, although it can be handy, it costs 1 #ifexists call per use. --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 16:13, 21 July 2009 (UTC) this is an example on how to solve: replace some L with language links, if present, delete useless links (notice how I left some L: they're useful, but they must be used wisely (look at the last table for an example)--Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 16:22, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

New religion. I mean, scientific explanation

Hi, I'd like to add a new point of view, which is a scientific explanation of the creation of the world - which makes my content need to follow the religious content rules. I need some help there! I mean, I don't know exactly what to do. I'm new to these wiki stuff... well, my content is all under my Talk page (http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Homero_Tassinari), I'd be glad if anyone could tell me what I need to do to get my content officially aproved. Thanks! Talk To Me 21:51, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Everything you need is on the eRepublik:Religion_policy. In short,

  1. Read and understand the religion policy and the eRepublik:Fictional_content_policy
  2. Make sure that what you write does not break these rules
  3. Make sure you cover the things listed here. eRepublik:Religion_policy#Writing_Religion_Pages
  4. When you are done writing, leave a note here and post on the Religion policy's talk page and the community will take a look at the pages for approval.

I know not everything will apply because yours is kind of an anti-religion. But we will figure something out :D The biggest thing that we need to know in the article is: is it relevant to eRepublik and is it more than just you that believes. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 12:30, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Template Namespace Lockdown

Friends and fellow editors. Due to some unfortunate issues in the past with templates, we have been forced to lock down the Template name space to only a select group of experienced editors. A new user group called Engineer will be the only group that has access to edit and create in the template name space. Engineers are experienced editors with over 400 edits. This doesn't mean that users with fewer edits cannot make templates. This just means that they will have to create them in their sandbox first and then ask an Engineer to move it to the template namespace for use. Template guidance has been updated here Help:Common_templates. For some reason, the list of Engineers is not appearing[3], but the sysops and most of the Uber Editors are also Engineers. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:17, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Additional information: all contributors with more than 400 edits - http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Special:ContributionScores - are Engineers. The editors with less than 400 edits become automatically Engineers after they reach 400 contributions. --Belea2008 14:54, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
May I be curious about the "unfortunate issues in the past"? --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 15:51, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Not respecting the clearly defined template change policy... Making a lot of little crap templates that got blanked that need to be deleted (but never get a deletion template per policy)... People who get a wiki account and start making templates immediately without knowing what they are doing... Ridonculous[4] signature templates... The average wiki user never even bothers with the template namespace, so it shouldn't inconvenience many people. This wiki is getting larger by the day and managing it is getting more and more difficult. Prohibiting actions are the only way to go at this point. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 17:25, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
+1 then --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 20:44, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
0 I don't know if it should be locked off to everybody. Certainly, there are experienced wiki users who have just created a user profile here and there are also people here with 400 edits who don't know how to edit a template. Lol, sorry about my crappy signature, I meant to change it after I started looking like a Trenchtown rudeboy, but I got lazy so I just put up with this for now.--Esteban Delgado
Yeah, you're right, but experienced wiki users would do 400 edits in small time and can ask older editors to do the dirty job. On the other hand high-sensibility templates are already protected --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 07:26, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
I am not saying that the 400 edit rule is totally inflexible. Like all things in the wiki, it can be changed later. It is symptom of two larger issues - administration handled by a small group of people and users not taking the proper measures (reading for 10 minutes, looking at the format of other pages, following a tutorial) to learn/prepare themselves BEFORE making changes in the wiki.--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 11:09, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
So is there a page where non-Engineer user can request for template moving/modifictions or we just select a random one and bug him/her? --Furio "UBW" Icon-Italy.png 16:48, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Ask any Engineer on his or her talk page to do it for you. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 19:06, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Military Activation

WPMillogo.png
Since the start of the Third World War (as most call it), there has been a renewed interest in the Military side of eRepublik. We editors need somewhere to create guidelines and coordinate recordings of military affairs. Therefore, and without further ado, I have opened the first eRepublik Wiki Project: WikiProject Military. Obviously it is still very new, however all are welcome to join in the Project. You could get a cool badge! (incidentally, could an Engineer move that page to Template:WPMil User, I'm locked out).

Anyway, I have a list of issues that should be solved on the talk page, feel free to join in. Once these are up I am going to advertise in the Game forums for anyone who could participate. Feel free to recruit as many skilled editors as possible, you can sign up in the page: eRepublik:WikiProject Military/Members. Thank you. --Martin23230 10:07, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
