Companies & Organizations

Again Andy with boring things... This time are companies and organizations that don't exist any more in the New World. The voting will last for 20 days which should be enough time for you all to write your opinion. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 09:48, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

Organisation still exist, even though rules about them have been changed.

Companies

Category:Companies have been divided in 50 subcategories, all of them are companies of a country... In all of them you can find the total number of 297 articles. Now, they don't exist, so honestly there is no real point in keeping them, but as we are a community I would like to hear your opinion. These are the options:
  • Option A: We delete all of them - no point of keeping any information regarding some obsolete stuff.
  • Option B: We delete all of them, but put information about them (logo, name and basic info) in citizen(s) article(s).
  • Option C: We leave them as they are

If the winning vote will be A or B, the corresponding company templates will be removed also. I will vote first so you keen see how to vote:
+1 for Option B --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 09:48, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

+1 for Option A.
--Yamisuke «WANNA FIGHT?!» 12:03, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 for Option B --Icon-Romania.png mib_boby | Talk 20:56, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
Option A +1 --Icon-Canada.pngCode-Y Talk/Projects 13:47, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 A, nuke this shit --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 13:50, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
- In ideal world I would prefer option B. Unfortunately we just do not have editors for that amount of work. There will be enough work to just clean up all of new Dead links that are going to be created with deletions.
So I vote reluctantly +1 for Option A--Sre8renica (talk) 01:44, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 A Kill 'em all!!! --Icon-Egypt.png Karnitx, Master of Pancakes Talk
+1 for Option A --Valerio Usseglio Mattiet Icon-Italy.png Talk, 22:40, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
+1'Option A'--"Gucio «Talk»" 22:40, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 for Option A-- Felipao Ruggerao Icon-Italy.png Talk, 22:35, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

After 20 days of voting the result is:

  • Option A: 7 votes
  • Option B: 2 votes
  • Option C: 0 votes

Thank you all for voting. The companies, its logos, categories and templates will be deleted in next 15 days, so please be patient. There is no need to add {{Warning}} to these articles. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 22:58, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Organizations

Organizations - the things that have been removed, but not totally... Country organization have been kept and citizen organizations have been removed. Interesting? Definitely.
Organizations have been divided in 55 subcategories, 54 of them are Organizations of a country... If I counted correctly, there are 527 organizations. Most of them are quite good composed and personally I would leave them as they are, delete only stubs but, lets vote for one of the options:

  • Option A: We delete all of them - no point of keeping any information regarding some obsolete stuff.
  • Option B: We delete all of them, but put information about them (logo, name and basic info) in citizen(s) article(s).
  • Option C: We leave them as they are, with exception of adding template OrgHistory (working name for the template, feel free to suggest new name) which is very similar to {{Version1}}
  • Option D: We leave them as they are

If the winning vote will be A or B, the corresponding organization templates will be removed also. As in previous section, I will vote first so you don't feel shy:
+1 for Option C --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 09:48, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

+1 for Option C: we need to leave eventual National Organisations pages in any case.
--Yamisuke «WANNA FIGHT?!» 12:03, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 for Option C --Icon-Romania.png mib_boby | Talk 20:56, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 Option C of course. --Icon-Canada.pngCode-Y Talk/Projects 13:46, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 C, but the category in general needs some cleanup I think --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 13:50, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 Option C, with better category stracture--Sre8renica (talk) 01:48, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 Option C, is the most reasonable in this case --Valerio Usseglio Mattiet Icon-Italy.png Talk 22:47, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
+1 Option C --"Gucio «Talk»" 22:41, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

After 20 days of voting the result is:

  • Option A: 0 votes
  • Option B: 0 votes
  • Option C: 8 votes
  • Option D: 0 votes

Thank you all for voting. The review of all existing organizations will have to be done, as well as creating historical template for them and add them to the historical organizations. If somebody is willing to tackle with it, feel free to apply. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 22:58, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Decorations

In February 2014 I created a page with Decorations offered by the game at missions or contests to have a wiki page with all decorations. Today I updated the page, but I don't know if the page is completed, because I don't know if these are all decorations offered by the game. Who can help me with this "problem"? --Icon-Romania.png mib_boby | Talk 21:19, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Hey, sorry I was a bit away lately and only noticed the post. A player has made a great site where I believe he added all the decorations there erepublik-web-guide --"Gucio «Talk»" 22:40, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Wiki Mentor Program

Playing on the Wiki I found Category:Wiki Mentor Program and I thinks this project is cool. It's any chance to be reactivated? --Icon-Romania.png mib_boby | Talk 23:36, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

A good question from mib_boby. Even better would be, is it possible to reactivate (revive) anything here? The wiki is almost dead and only couple of active members are keeping it alive. If something doesn't change soon, then wiki will be dead completely. So, my answer to mib boby is very simple: If you are willing to give it a chance, then maybe you can revive the mentor program. I have corrected the links on mentor pages (all of them can be found here), but main problem is to find mentors - and then you have to update pages about mentors (Category:Wiki Mentor Program Members and eRepublik Official Wiki:Wiki_Mentor_Program/Mentor_List) and find a way to get the message to newbies that mentor program exists. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 13:00, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
No proper maintenance, no party.
--Yamisuke «WANNA FIGHT?!» 01:03, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
If we wanna to revive wiki, we need to convince our friends to create a wiki account and to help us to update the Wiki. A good way to contact newbies is to send a message in the game, on the wiki they don't know how to talk. I will publish these days an article in Romania to invite the citizens to create wiki accounts. After that, I will try to be a mentor for them to explain what they need to do and to contribute.... --Icon-Romania.png mib_boby | Talk 12:13, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

cleaning up

Some of you have maybe noticed that today I have put almost 200 articles in Category:Articles with warning - 90 % of this articles are stub articles for dead citizens. In next two days I will add approximately 400 more and this is only the first part of the cleanup as I am reviewing lonely pages now, and next month (after deletion of articles form the category), I will review Category:Formatting and Category:Stub for articles not touched for more than a year and I will repeat the procedure.

I know that it would be faster and easier to delete the pages but I am trying to follow the procedure as best I can so feel free to check the category if you think some of the articles are worth saving. If nobody will complain in next 15 days, articles will be deleted on July 31st, August 1st, 2nd and possible 3rd if I don't manage to review all of the lonely pages in next two days.

Why this cleanup is needed? Wiki has been hit with a bunch of useless articles and images (possibly categories and templates) and this is attempt to improve the quality of our wiki. If you want to help, feel free to check large categories, especially language and add notices if required. Thank you for taking the time to read this. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 19:53, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

Your effort is admirable; even though, I won't spend my time until a proper maintenance will be scheduled (to be honest, I haven't much time lately).
--Yamisuke «WANNA FIGHT?!» 03:29, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
First part is finished, 451 articles have been added in the category and will be deleted in cca 10-15 days. Feel free to browse through the category and view if something has been misplaced, although I don't think so as articles are lonely, citizens dead without any major achievements. After removal I will again start second phase, with even deeper looking at the lonely, stub and non-formatted articles. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 13:45, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

User cleanup

I suggested few weeks ago to Gucio to clean up some of the inactive users. Honestly, I don't see the point in having users inactive for months (years) without any contribution, or contributing by only creating their own page for a citizen with no real achievements. Following the deletion policy, I add to this pages warning so in next few days they will be with no contributions... I started to create a list of that users in my reminders sandbox. I would really like to knew your opinion, should we merge this users if they are inactive for more than 12 months if they are without any contributions? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 13:45, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

If I recall correctly, at the moment Gucio is not able to 'delete' users.
--Yamisuke «WANNA FIGHT?!» 16:28, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
As far as I recall I should be able to remove users now. Really, regardless of what the opinion is such action would require administrative permission, which I do doubt you would get. --"Gucio «Talk»" 22:44, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
Gucio, I realize that owners of eRepublik want to have the number of active players as high as possible because than they can say we have 100000 people playing the game (no matter if 90000 are dead), but what do they gain to have 10000 editors, while 9750 are inactive? Can you ad least ask the bosses can we give some permission to delete any (or all) of the following groups:
  • Registered over a year and without ANY wiki contributions
  • Registered over a year and without ANY wiki contributions, citizen dead/impossible to find
  • Registered over two years, only wiki contributions are editing his/her user page
  • Registered over two years, only wiki contributions are editing his/her user page, citizen dead/impossible to find
  • Banned ingame without ANY wiki contributions
  • Banned ingame, only wiki contributions are editing his/her user page

I would help you with the creation of the lists (which will take forever as there is 10000+ editors) so we can sort this shit out. Thank you in advance for asking. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 08:01, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Notability

I would again emphasis that notability policy should be written. It was announced several times in the past (since 2010) but never completed. Bogi started to make a proposal, but as many before him, he stopped - User:Bogohulja/Sandbox/Notability. Feel free to use this for adding things to it, or copy it to your own sandbox to make your own proposal. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 13:45, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Not sure if I understand this?!
If that becomes policy of this Wiki we'll have to delete over 75% of current citizen pages. That is in adition and does not include thousand pages or so already marked for deletion as Lonely pages.
Unless citizen was "President of country or has served as one of the only 2 recognized Ministers (MoDs, MoFA) than they should not have their own page" - that would include most of the current citizen pages on this Wiki.
Just about all of the newspaper pages will have to be deleted as "Having many subscribers or MM medals should not be enough criteria for citizen or newspaper being added to the wiki"--Sre8renica (talk) 00:25, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
As I said, we have to create some guidelines... And sooner better than later. This upper is only a link to Bogi's idea, I didn't said that this is final, obviously people who are here longer should make suggestions what should be in notability policy. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 04:21, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
As usually, I did not explain myself well enough.
Some of us are already using rules? to mark for deletion pages that are not good enough.... and there is more to come
As a suggestion... why not add "rules" that we are using at the moment - as a starting point. Than add other "rules" that Andy will use to delete pages in 2nd (3rd, 4th... etc round) ;-P
eg.:
  • lonely pages - this is supposed to be an encyclopedia of eRepublik, so every page needs to be linked to. No point having a pages "hidden" that no one can find. So, have them linked or destroy...
  • delete citizens who have received a Permanent Ban AND had no major achievements unless ban was "unique"
  • should not delete "dead" citizens, just because they have died. But, if page is not up to Wiki standard AND no one bothered to improve it in X+months/years than it should go.
This is more of a type/style of guidelines that (in my opinion) should be used. (Deleting citizen page Solely because there is no President or major Minister achievement is, in my opinion, a wrong way to go --Sre8renica (talk) 23:35, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
I actually agree with Srebrenica. Guess it's more important what is article like. If someone put effort info making it pretty and meaningful, let it be. --Icon-Montenegro.png Bogi | Talk 19:49, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
