Another thing, is there any thing we can do about Libya? The page Libya redirects to the user's sandbox (same with Islam actually), which is wrong on so many levels, and then uses DISPLAYTITLE to try to hide the fact it is a sandbox page, along with using the official infobox and official-looking tables, maps etc...

I did warn about this, and I would express again my support for completely wiping everything like this off the wiki. I love, for examlpe, Maltese Mission (RIP Matteo) because it is a great example of information on a country that is not in the game but it is treated as such. A section on the plans for Malta, suggested map and resources etc... would fit in fine. Republic of Iceland is also a good, although slightly ambiguously worded, example. If there is a proper campaign to add, say, Monaco or Libya or such then it should be in a page like that, and if it can't make one it should be excluded.--Martin23230 20:13, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

::I thought the star for a capital was pretty uniform across the world, but I don't look at a lot of non-english maps, so I assume from your comments I am wrong on that.  Anyway, works fine, if you want to go that route - but it might not jive for non-english pages in the wiki.  Nah, customization level is sufficient, just think in terms of having a second or third border color to allow for tri-colored countries and more unique looks.  Example:  Canada and Turkey both use Red/White, so it would be nice if one could use say: red/white and maybe a black in the borders.  But still looks fine, and I might be over-complicating the idea.  Just thought it would be cool, especially for tri-color countries, like Hungary, Mexico, Italy, UK, US, etc.  Not a big deal if it makes it more difficult to implement.  Good work. -- <span style=" color: white; text-shadow:red 0.0em 0.1em 0.5em; font-family: Georgia;">Citizen 6</span> &nbsp; Talk &nbsp; 08:02, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

:::Those aren't hard to implement. My point is that every Region of X template had only customized header - the border and bg was the same for everyone. Basically the main bg/border can be changed with one more switch. But if the region links "get hidden" under changed background, we would need to create a new switch for the text color too. This would make the template 10 times more complicated from what it's now. And what comes to the the capital tag, the language won't be problem as this template is completely designed for English pages (the links will always lead to English version, it's not translatable). I also think that many readers would start to wonder what the star means; the tag would send a clear message. Immediate logout?

So, unless you have opened a battle, erepublik logs you out pretty soon. And if you are busy writing an article, and Even if the battle is open, it still logs you out from eRepublik. And all the article finishes O.o ~~nomihomi reborn~~

Well, that's why no one should write articles in eRepublik. Use notepad or something like that. Try checking the "Remember me" box when logging in, if it helps. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 18:08, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
If you are writing article in eRepublik, after you completed it, just open eRepublik in new tab, and than you can publish your article :) works for me :)----Hurkancs Icon-Croatia.png Say something to me :) 16:07, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Private messages discussion

Strike out lines were already implemented.

Here's the suggestions we received so far:

  • an "unread messages" filter
  • a "mark as read" button
  • ability to see more than 10 conversations (Note: Redundant - the PM pagination is enough for now.)
  • the messages (old ones) should be grouped by conversation
  • a "trash" folder
  • a "spam" folder
  • ability to send PM to anyone (using auto complete) (similar to: send messages - auto complete - to all citizens, not just friends)
  • ability to send a PM at more than one player (similiar to: ability to CC or message multiple people)
  • ability to see PMs older than 14 days (all private messages/conversation I have sent/received if possible)
  • too much JS
  • ability to add links and images (and BBcode) ("New citizen message" is greatly influenced by the lack of these features) (at least, exception for the presidential message)
  • auto-complete should only search for the nicks that start with the letters typed
  • it looks like only the old messages have no more new lines
  • a feature to see all messages to/from one user
  • history doesn't work correctly
  • can't open messages in new window
  • click too much if you want to reach the end of the messages (add first page/last page buttons)
  • revert: put the limit back to 2000 - 500 for a message/reply is way too small
  • in conversations list - show number of total messages at every conversation - example: "Hello (3/10)" - right now, the "10" (total no. of messages) does not appear
  • in conversations list - the 3 dots appear even in cases in which the message is not truncated
  • add "Forward message" feature
  • add the ability to create groups and PM them
  • "Allow us to save messages in a PDF format onto our own hard-drives." (He is referring to the ones he "lost".)
  • "add sound alert when you get new msg."
  • "send PM to all employees in a company"
  • "BLOCKING unwanted mail-senders"
  • "allow messages to show an absolute send date (such as March 3 15:33) as opposed to relative (3 days ago)"
  • "when you enter a PM, you should be directed to the newest message received in that conversation, so no scrolling is necessary"
  • Mass PM for Party Members (only PP can send message)
  • adding a preview function when writing a message to new citizen (presidential request)
  • is it possible to make at least [ url ] bbcode available to presidents message (presidential request)
  • Why normal PM has 2000 characters limit, when to new citizens only 1500? (presidential request)

Allow us to use TOS-compliant mass mailers (as opposed to illegal ones) again by taking GET data from the URL and filling the send-message form with that data, just like you did before the update --Lietk12 14:42, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Just my mailer alone is used for about 2000 messages a day. Most are campaign or recruitment messages. It is used in 60 countries. This doesn't even account for all the other mailers people have made. When we started using it in the US, retention nearly doubled. That is twice as many players playing the game and buying gold. If this is not changed, people will still use mailers; they will just shift to the TOS violating bots. This will cause all sorts of problems, as these will need passwords, and someone will create one just to trick people into giving away passwords. --AndraX2000 23:42, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Another blow was struck against ToS legal mailers. We had worked around the GET problem with a simple Greasemonkey script that read the GET string and filled it in. After the Mar 1 update, URLs with a GET string are responding with a Location header. So now even our workaround doesn't work. --AndraX2000 19:20, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

General discussion

why is this matter 'discussed' here, instead of the forum, where people can write their opinion? The relevant forum thread has an 'answer' from Plato directing users here - where they cannot write, as only a few people have wiki editor status? --Quicksilver 13:40, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Question, is this picture and this picture acceptable to be used in the wiki article 2011 eRepublik Rebellion? It may be a bit vulgar, just loking for your opinions. --Icon-Canada.pngCode-Y Talk/Projects 03:09, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Aside from being potentially insulting to the people they are directed at .. I don't see a problem with the second one at all. The first one may be of concern to countries that outlaw the swastika, but I don't know if this wiki is subject to those laws, or even if it necessarily infringes upon those country-specific regulations. My feeling ... I don't see why they would be unacceptable, though the article does have a lot of pictures which may not be necessary. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6 | Talk 12:21, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Division of Congress Members

And here's another ticket (from a long list of ones):

...a bug that has occurred during last Congressional elections in Croatia. Based on the numbers of the regions we had on election day the number of Congress members should be: 30 official (3 per region) and 10 wildcards. Because of the bug we got only 34 Congress members (30 official and only 4 wildcard). Also 3 of our Congressmen that were... ...elected in Slovenian original region Strya&Cartinthia lost their Congressional mandate on the 26th when the region was retaken by Slovenia leaving us with ONLY 31 CONGRESS MEMBERS. Another bug. Please check these bugs and restore the lost members of out Congress. Thank you in advance.

and here it is the information I received from the tech guys:

if a country looses a region between 23th 02:00:00 and 26th the next thing happens:

on 23th each country is set with a congress division formula in the database (http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Division_of_congress_members)

if a country looses $n number of regions (after23th) the formula suffers the next modifications:

regions in a country --$n , congressman/region, total congressmen in country -congressman/region , wild cards

Example:

If Romania has 5 regions, congressman start candidating for each one of them, at a point one of the region is lost DURING ELECTIONS, its normal that the congress to be left with 35 Congressman instead of 40 EVEN IF in the congress division wiki page displays that in normal conditions even with 4 regions Romania should have 40 congressman ( many tickets come on thins matter)

Could someone please edit the pages related to this event. I've tried several times to improve the page: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php?title=Division_of_congress_members&action=history - but we still receive questions about this game play logic. Thanks in advance! --Belea2008 12:07, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

I wrote something there but that answer from tech guys was way too complicated to understand fully. So someone other could see that too. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 13:07, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
And if a country win a region after the deadline time? --Icon-Chile.png iVicentico (Leave you complaint here) 04:38, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
The opposite happens. That country will have more eligible positions. --Belea2008 08:49, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Does this mean that the country will get x more wildcars per conquered region? (Where x is #congressman/region) --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 14:28, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
No extra wildcards, the number of of #congressman/region remains the same. It is just that the number of region is modified. In case of losing regions, the no. of regions are less, thus less positions; in case of winning regions, the no. of regions increases, thus more positions. It is clear now? --Belea2008 16:21, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Too complicated for me :> I still don't understand how the total number of congressman can increase if there isn't any changes in number of #congressman/region or wildcards. As if region is gained after 23rd (the day that the numbers are set), no one can candidate from the new region as the candidating ended 23rd 23:59. No candidates in region --> no congressman from the region. So if the number of congressman/region or wildcards don't increase, extra congressman aren't elected. Or am I missing something here (it's likely that I am)? --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 17:21, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Between 02:00 and 23:59 of the 23th day, if a country win a region, users can postule as congressmen candidates... but if some country gain a region in 24 or 25, the number don't be increase. --Icon-Chile.png iVicentico (Leave you complaint here) 18:49, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

I guess it is random, they just don't dare to admit that they don't know it either. :-)--Quicksilver 19:15, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Newspaper articles on the wiki

I recently copied an article of mine to the wiki, South Africa vs Brazil: A Complete History.

I had a few questions for Belea but he recommended I rather ask here for clarification.

  • Should an article be left in plaintext or should links be wikified where possible?
  • The template Template:Article implies that the article was selected by an admin (probably the original intention); however the majority of articles in Category:Articles were created by citizens. Should the template be modified to remove the 'selected by' part, or should a different template be created/used to indicate that:
    • the wiki article is an in-game article from a paper
    • the article may not meet the standards of neutrality
  • off topic :) but is there a tool or template to convert a day to an actual date?

- Zamrg 12:31, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

For the first one, you should wikify it where possible, e.g. by using eLink
For the second one, I don't know, really.
And the third one, there is template for converting date to eRep day (Day), but I'm afraid there's no such template that converts eRep day to date. --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 12:39, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Yes, always wikify, and imo, yes we should make a similar template for articles NOT selected by the admins.- John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 13:26, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the answers. IMO, the Template:Article should refer to an article added by a citizen and a new Template:AdminArticle could be created for admin selected content. I think this will help avoid confusion between the two. - Zamrg 13:30, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
+1 if there are no qualms with this, I'll go ahead and do it?- John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 13:34, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
+1 from me. We'll need to go through all articles using Template:Article and modify them accordingly. How would we identify admin created articles? Those created by Admin and Belea, or are there any other 'admin' accounts here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zamrg (talkcontribs) 16:38, March 6, 2011
-1 I first started added articles to the Wiki for two reasons:
  • I (kind of) dislike external references;
  • some of the articles I've put are better than some Wiki pages to describe the feeling/sentiments/events of that time.
Here are two examples of how I see these articles included in the Wiki:
The third example is my vision about articles moved in the Wiki. Tag them with a template - you can modify the current one to say that any contributor can add articles to the Wiki, not just Admin accounts.... and from there, they are "encyclopediazed", as in included in various Wiki pages and topics. --Belea2008 14:53, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
If there's no need to separate 'admin selected content' and 'user submitted content', then I'm happy to use a single modified template for both. - Zamrg 22:11, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Exactly, I'm for keeping only one generic "Article" template (without specifying who needs to add the article to the Wiki). Optional, I would write in the template some basic guideline for which kind of articles can be added and which articles cannot. But that's another topic of discussion. --Belea2008 22:43, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

War Influence and Productivity

Could someone who knows the formulas for productivity and influence put them on the wiki? Without the details of actual gameplay mechanics like these, the value of the wiki is much diminished.

I know for one that the productivity formula is definitely wrong.

If no one actually knows the formulas, tell me, I'll try to work them out. --Litro walkie talkie 18:49, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

If you find the formula, they will change it. Don't even hesitate. ||||||Khebit TC| 20:15, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

They keep the formulas for productivity and influence secret now, quite a shame; however these are the basic productivities for each skill level:
1 - 192, 2 - 211, 3 - 230, 4 - 250, 5 - 269, 6 - 288, 7 - 307, 8 - 327, 9 - 346, 10 - 365, 11 - 384, 12 - 403 - Zamrg 20:41, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Khebit, are you serious, or just kidding from frustration over constant changes (sorry, I can't tell over the internet)? Zamrg, thanks for the info. It turns out that the productivity formula at least is right (I misread a component). Well, that's good to know. Litro walkie talkie 14:47, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm talking seriously xD. Last time someone (I think it was erepcc) discovered the formula, admins changed it the next day. I think they don't want players to know it :S ||||||Khebit TC| 17:58, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
You sure the productivity formula is old? I used it to calculate my productivity and I got 725.76 (rounded: 726) - my in-game productivity is 726. It seems to work perfectly... --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 08:45, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

National Current Status Template/Notice

Would it be possible (or helpful) to make a template or notice that could be placed into a Country's main page that covered the current status of that country. For example:

  • Currently at war with X and Y and Z
  • Currently a Natural Enemy with X
  • Currently a Natural Enemy of X and Y and Z
  • Currently in an Alliance with X and Y and Z
  • Last modified on xx/xx/xxx (Day xxxx)

Maybe throw in some appropriate graphics. I think it would be a nice way to give readers a snapshot of the current situation of a given country and also a way to update the page without having to dig into the text. I could try to work something up, but I'm not overly experienced in complex templates. Could use some help if anyone is interested and I guess someone with access would probably have to formalize it. Is it even a good idea? I've just noticed that the text of many countries is often out-of-date and even contradictory. A template could at least be updated more quickly, timestamped, and if placed in the upper portion of the articles give the reader what they might be most interested in right from the start. I suppose it could be added to the country info box as well, though I think separately would be a little easier for updating without having to research the other variables. Something like this already exist? --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6 | Talk 12:03, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

The problem is that the information changes often and most of the country pages aren't updated so often as they would be needed. If this is going to be done, I would add this to the Country template. That way it would be easy to find the info from every country page as it's in the same place everywhere. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 13:58, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

About common templates...

I've made some changes to them. When the new blue style was implemented for common templates like Citizen, Party each of them had their own templates for rows and headers even the templates were really the same. So I made three new templates (RowV2, LinkRowV2 and HeaderV2) to replace templates like "Citizen/Row", "Party/Row" "Country/Row" (which all were the same as RowV2). So if you see any problem with any page that contains some of these templates, give me a message and I fix it. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 16:02, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Non-eRepublik sandbox stuff again

Sorry, I'll try to keep it short this time.

  • User:Archangel Uriel/Sandbox/Islam should be deleted. I know it is in the sandbox, and people seem to have strong views about the independence of a person's sandbox, but this might be too far.
  • Makkah: could we get rid of the real-life Kabba part, and ensure this, and things like it, don't happen again.
  • File:Icon-Allah.png // Now come on. I don't mind about creating icons for other countries, even ones for ones that a) will almost never be added to eRepublik and b) are pretty controversial (Libya) for example, I'm sure you are aware of the real-life implications.) but this is a little too far.

I love, for example, Maltese Mission (RIP Matteo) because it is a great example of information on a country that is not in the game but it is treated as such.

The Libya and Islam redirect deleted. I don't like this either, not at all. But the only real way we have to stop this is to completely ban the making of fictional stuff in sandboxes and delete the content that tries to challenge this rule. The discussion above (the one you started last month) isn't really going anywhere. I don't really know what do do with these. I haven't ever been friend of any fictional content. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 20:53, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
"Articles about Real Life religions will be deleted immediately. The wiki is not the place to evangelize or explain religious beliefs. Template:Regions of X

I was thinking the other day that why do we need to make own template for every country if we could just one template for all countries. So I did some testing and the result can be seen in here. Basically that template determines the owner of the region from the region name and then it fetches the other regions of that country to the template. The template style is same as we have in our common templates. For example if we put the template to the Aland page, it'll look like this:

Or Scania

And so on. Some features:

  • Shows the regions currently occupied the owner country of the region
  • No need for manual updates
    • I have made a script that will update the owner data with single click using the eRepublik API (as often as I want) OR
    • automatically every time I log into eRep after day change

Negative sides

  • not translatable
  • no custom styles

What do you think? --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 21:20, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

If there were custom styles I'd hop right on board, but with them all blue I just wouldn't feel right. It would look good for some countries but for countries like Canada or South Africa that pride themselves on colors completely different nty ;x. --Icon-Canada.pngCode-Y Talk/Projects 22:11, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
Bravo Sampo, this is excellent! I do agree with Code-Y though; we need border/bar/background/text color variables. - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 00:02, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

That's possible but it would require few more switches and would make thing a lot more complicated. If you want it to be fully customizable, it needs switch for:

  • Main border and background
  • header background
  • header text

If you want to keep the current version used by the regions of x template (only header is changed), it would require switches for:

  • header background
  • header text

The latter would be better in my opinion. The template would default to the blue version if the country specific style hasn't been specified. Here's an example of how this would look in Nunavut page (with Canadian colors):

--Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 07:52, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

I think this is really neat. I'd be happy with switches just to customise the header, that's good enough. - Zamrg 09:31, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
This is Amazing! Two things, if I may;
Firstly: could all the regions be in alphabetical order instead of ordered by country as they seem to be now? I just think it would look neater, and especially as there is no difference between occupied and original regions.
Secondly: is there a way you could bold the capital province of a country, or put a small Capital after it?
And as a minor point, I'm not a fan of the different colours for different nations, I prefer standardisation across the wiki. However it seems that there is a demand for it, so I will concede.
Another thought, could this be implemented into the Country and/or Region infobox? For a start it would be great if they updated automatically too. but also, wouldn't it be great if on say the Canada page there was a drop down list of regions of Canada in the infobox on the right? Under the Territories section say.
Anyway, once again I would like to offer my greatest congratulations, this is exactly what the wiki needs. Well Done!--Martin23230 10:24, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
  1. Regions are now in alphabetical order.
  2. Marking capital is possible too (What others think and suggestions for how to mark it)
  3. I was thinking to put this template to every region page (at the end like Nunavut).
  4. Regions in country infobox could be used but it would need different switch (as the code in this switch is Region · Region2 and so on) as it wouldn't look good in the country template. But it's possible too. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 11:50, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Wow. This template looks GREAT, and works GREAT. And I'd go for customizing header, since content's background is same in every template. --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 16:05, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

All right. If no one has anything constructive to say, I will implement this template tomorrow. I'll be updating the data daily (if the API is not broken like it has been for last few days). --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 16:35, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Sampo, this is awesome. Dooooeeet :) - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 18:25, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
On the Capital marking ... why not just mark the capital(s) with a star as in ... USA --> Florida Ribbon addition - Gold Service Star.png ... note the hover text to aid reading. I definitely like the idea of each country having its own color to aid in navigation and more switches the better. Lots of countries ID with red or blue, but I think it would be nice to give each at least one secondary color to distinguish them from each other. BTW, this template is an awesome idea! --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6   Talk   09:12, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
On the capital marking, I don't think it's a good idea to mark it with star as it's the American way - you need to remember that there is almost 70 other countries in eRep too. I'd prefer Icon-capital.gif (one idea). And about the customization: You're saying that the header customization isn't enough? Could you be more precise so I could say that would it work from the technical point of view? I'll implement this now. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 19:13, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Template implemented to every English region page. I removed the existing Regions of X from the page and replaced it with / added the Regions to the page. I also added the customized colors for the countries which already had their own regions template (the color of the template ofc.). If you see any bugs/see any problems, please let me know so I can fix it. You can use my talk page or you can contact me at IRC (#wiki @Rizon). --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 20:16, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

I thought the star for a capital was pretty uniform across the world, but I don't look at a lot of non-english maps, so I assume from your comments I am wrong on that. Anyway, Icon-capital.gif works fine, if you want to go that route - but it might not jive for non-english pages in the wiki. Good work. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   08:02, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
Those aren't hard to implement. It would be really nice to hear others opinions too... --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 08:57, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
No, I agree with Sampo. The star isn't amazingly clear, whilst the Capital graphic is quite obvious, and is used in a tonne of country pages. - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 10:44, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
Ok then. Works for me, plus the customizable headers seem to give enough variety anyway. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   23:03, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

Further ideas for using Template:Regions data...

Now when we have Template:Regions up and running we could think about what else could we do with the template. Well, here's few ideas:

  1. keep the owner in region template updated (easy task)
  2. keep the region neighbors updated in the pages - User:Grzechooo/Sandbox/Neighbors (great idea by Grzechooo)

What do you think? I like both of these ideas. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 17:14, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

+1 Both sound good :3 I don't see why anyone would turn any of these suggestions down :P - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 18:28, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
+1 both ideas are uber cool, the first one is really easy I think, it needs changing some code in Region only, and for second, we could bot it I think. --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 12:38, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Okay, if there aren't any votes against, I'll implement it soon. The problem would be to create list of neighbors region have. Sampo, any ideas? --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 12:57, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

The API should contain the list of regions neighbors. I'm thinking that we could do switch with all regions where the code for Neighbors is fetched (and the codes can be created with scripts/API). Then we could only add {{SwitchName|BASEPAGENAME} to the pages manually. I'll see what I can do (later today). --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 13:44, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Or I could create the codes and then we could paste the codes to pages (wouldn't require switch but does more work). --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 14:03, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
All right, the switch is not a solution as the size of it seems to be too large (can't post it to wiki, the submit page only turns blank) or maybe the problem was that there were about 553*(average neighbors) expensive parser functions + same amount of switches containing 553 lines of text :D. So it's better to manually paste the codes to the pages. I'll put them to my sandbox and we can then start to edit pages. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 14:38, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Both ideas implemented. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 13:29, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

A guy, and later his BANNED multi-account (hans molemann was the first attacker, then he started using his banned multi seba-geek to do this "dirty work") are abusing the wiki principles about edition of pages.

Deleting entire sections, without debating, just abusing the use of the edit button is against the Wiki principles and a blatant violations of erepublik rules.

just look the "discuss" section, they are now "owning" the page and they believe they can do whatever they want... Import tax and licenses

I have a question about the company location: My companies are all in Austria. Now what happens when I move to germany and get the german CS. I know I need a license, but are my companies then considered to be foreign and have to pay import tax when selling to germany?

ANSWER: No, you will not have to pay import tax. Import tax is calculated based on the citizen's citizenship. Thus, if you move to Germany and have Germany citizenship and license, your offers will be considered local.

Opinions regarding the fictional tag

http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Talk:Yahya_shams Do voice your opinion :) Please notice this is not just about that one article, but it is about the whole fictional tag in general.Aryamehr Flag of Iran talk 14:03, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm in favor of keeping fictional content, as long that content respects all the Wiki policies.
Also, this: "I do not, and can not, and don't have the time to sit and think how to "smartly" edit the article." - I would like to add that, in any debate about specific fictional content or fictional content in general in which Aryamehr was involved, the only solution he preferred was the removal of that content.
To sum up, I think it would be unwise to remove content just because one contributor considers it offensive/insulting. If several contributors reach consensus that a piece of content is either offensive or insulting, then the content should be improved/neutralized; not removed. Only in very strong consensus, a piece of questionable content should be removed.
--Belea2008 15:54, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Obviously it would be stupid for me to rewrite it smartly. Because 1) According to me, it is an insult. You want me to rewrite an insult? And thus insult myself? 2) And if I remove it, you just said all I want to do is to remove. So therefore I am not the right person for this.
So, you believe it is ok if someones character page is fully fictional and not related to the game?
And with the last sentence of yours, do you mean that if I write something in the same page, more than one contributor must consider it offensive/insulting for it to be removed?
Cheers! Aryamehr Flag of Iran talk 21:23, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
I'm in strong favor of fictional content, as long as it does not improperly skew the facts, attempt to legitimize viewpoints that only one (or even a handful) of players are having some fun with, or is contradictorily (according to the wiki) false. User pages and Citizen pages obviously should have some latitude in what is being written, but again, they shouldn't conflict "too much" with established wiki "canon" (for lack of a better word). I like to read inventive players having a bit of fun with their imaginations, but I don't want the information to distort things. For example: If a player declares himself say, Emperor or Royalty of a country, and then tries to seed country articles with his own RPing, it does pose a problem, because it distorts the facts. If this player somehow managed to convince a majority of the countries population to accept him/her as Emporer, and this could be verified through forum posts, then maybe I'd just chuckle and move on. The religion stuff is always gonna be wonky, but some people have really attached to this particular lulz, so whateva. As long as the religion in question is ENTIRELY fictional, notable, and no RL religious stuff finds it way into the wiki, I can only meh ... and move on. I don't like inventing countries, kingdoms, alt histories, (elfs, aliens, etc.), or filling in information with things that the rest of the community knows nothing about. It is a question of notability, though considering the nature of that concept in eRep, perhaps the term "notoriety" is more appropriate. Of course, this too can be a subjective thing, and something that is unique to this type of game (for good, or for bad). I don't know the details of this particular article, but since you are asking about the Fic Tag, I'd say that it is a good thing (though it is ugly and needs a better color scheme/icon IMO - sorry to whoever created it, but I dunna likey), because it lets readers know the content is largely BS and they can disregard it (or enjoy it), if desired. On another note, any editor putting up fictional content should naturally accept that it may be challenged and potentially removed without prejudice, this may even reach into Citizen pages, though User pages (NOT including "False Sandboxing") are pretty much off limits IMO as long as they don't try to project themselves as part of the wiki content. User pages are account pages, not content pages - there is a difference, and these two wiki elements should be kept separate - even if the editor is just having fun and may have a good imagination. I think the wiki could actually use more Fic Tags in some places I have read. For the record, Citizen pages are actually content pages, and therefore are free game, though I'd say "tread lightly" and let the player have his fun, as long as they don't try to seed unsubstantiated info beyond their own page. I also firmly believe that False Sandboxing (using/writing child-pages as if the are part of wiki content) should be removed without prejudice. This should be clearly stated wiki policy. Admins, please just remove them - place a 15 day tag for potential debate if need be, or not. Won't bother me and might help to keep readers unconfused about the game and wiki usage. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Ribbon addition - Silver Award Star.png Talk   12:00, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
