The First Argentina-New Zealand War was the fourth major war of Oceania and first major war for New Zealand. The Argentinian aim of the war was to gain resources, regions for citizens to run for congress in, as well as to be able to border one of their closest friends, Indonesia.

Though New Zealand was, at the time, an independently aligned nation, it did have positive relations with a number of nations in the ONE alliance. Conversely, Argentina was a full member of Terra, an alliance which as a whole was embroiled in multiple conflicts with ONE at the time of the Argentinian invasion.

As a result, the war was a part of the many clashes between ONE forces and joint EDEN/Terra forces in what would be known as World War V. It would be the second conflict to have expanded into Oceania, and together with the concurrent South African attack on Brazil, would finally bring the international war to every continent on the globe.

Introduction

The war was started by a natural enemy proposal from an Argentinian congressmen.[1] New Zealand thereafter responded with a natural enemy proposal of its own against Argentina as it braced itself for an anticipated invasion.[2] Military experts believed that Argentina was to have a greater chance of taking New Zealand due to the former country's relatively larger population, larger and stronger army, and more tanks compared to New Zealand. New Zealand did have very strong ties with Serbia but since Argentina had nearly half of the regions in South America at the time, it was believed that Argentina had a better chance of winning the war than New Zealand did.

By the time of the Argentina-New Zealand War, some of ONE's principal countries were facing invasions in the Second Baltic War, USA-Spain War, Bulgarian Independence War, and the EDEN invasion of Serbia. ONE countries were therefore facing a number of issues, forced to slowly rebuild themselves, and not in a position of being able to assist their New Zealand ally to the degree that they may have had in the past when they were defending themselves from past invasion attempts by Chile. Though they would try, the geographical position of New Zealand, and the overwhelming military forces of Argentina, made the New Zealand defense a precarious one.

In addition, Chile had been defending itself against a previous New Zealand invasion for three weeks prior to the war. Previously Chile had been trying to take New Zealand's regions many times, but had been unsuccessful. As a result, New Zealand too had tried to take some of Chile's regions but also met with little success. With the Argentinian inclusion in the conflict, Chile acquired a strong ally to assist in breaking the stalemate.
