The first Croatian Congress elections were held on 25 December 2008. From the creation of Croatia two top parties were in almost every one: Hrvatska Stranka Prava and Hrvatska Demokratska Stranka. In 2008 and 2009, a great deal of Congress seats was also taken by Hrvatska Ujedinjena Stranka, Hrvatski Liberalni Demokrati and Ekipa za bolju eHrvatsku.
