Operations

Constitution

The Constitution of Eire Aonair's Military Unit was passed in 2011 to outline the founding structure, operations, and protocols of the unit. A public copy of the document can be found on the Eire Aonair forum. [1]

Mission

The primary mission of EAMU is to sustain eIreland's sovereignty over its original regions of Cork, Dublin, Louth, Mayo, Shannon, and Wexford. EAMU's two secondary missions are to deploy soldiers abroad in order to reciprocate good relations with other military units and nations of eRepublik, and to to maintain the military efficiency of eIreland's military forces by actively co-operating and co-ordinating with other willing military units in eIreland.

Command Structure

EAMU is directed by the Party President of Eire Aonair, an elected leader referred to as the Chief Command Officer, and the eIrish Ministry of Defence. The unit's constitution refers to this body collectively as the EAMU Department of Command.

Party President of Eire Aonair
-has the authority and responsibility to ensure that the operations of EAMU are consistent with the constitution of EAMU.
-has the authority to veto the commands of the Ministry of Defence as they apply to EAMU.

Chief Command Officer
-is the mechanical Commander of EAMU and has second priority to the eIrish Ministry of Defence for giving orders.
-is elected by the member of EAMU of the 5th of every month.
-is required to be a member of Eire Aonair.
-is responsible for the selections of deployment for EAMU when deployment in Important or Critical ranked battles has not been ordered by the eIrish Ministry of Defence.
-is responsible for all of EAMU's military collaborations and deployments both domestic and international.
-is responsible for the communication of orders to members of the military unit.
-is responsible for the upkeep of EAMU's recruitment and recruitment policies.
-is responsible for the upkeep of EAMU's community, public image, uniform, logo, and military unit profile.

eIrish Ministry of Defence
-has top priority for giving orders.
-has the authority to command EAMU's deployment where a battle has been ranked Important or Critical using the current ranking system.

Membership

In order to be a member of Eire Aonair, players are required to be loyal to a sovereign eIreland, to have been citizens of Ireland at the time of their acceptance into the unit, and to follow the battle orders communicated to them by the Chief Command Officer.

Members are not required to be of a particular party or political affiliation. In the case that there are more applicants for membership than there are free positions there a set of criteria set forth in section [3.4] of the constitution that the Chief Command Officer will act on. [2]

Supply

Members of EAMU are expected to self provide themselves with the necessary supplies to take part in unit deployments.Any reputable and willing commune system, geared toward military supply, may be systematically recommended to members of EAMU at the discretion of EAMU's Department of Command.EAMU will never require members to participate in a mandatory commune system.

Uniform

September 2011 Official E.A.M.U. uniform.

In order to increase the visibility of eIreland and EAMU on battlefields across eRepublik, uniform Citizen Avatars should be donned by unit members. The constitution specifies that EAMU uniforms should be personalized so that each member is distinguishable as an individual for community, political, and practical matters. The constitution also says that EAMU uniforms should clearly identify EAMU soldiers as eIrish forces and secondarily as EAMU forces.

Military Cooperation

In order to better serve the interests of eIreland's community and defence EAMU seeks military cooperation domestically and internationally. By actively co-ordinating deployments involving larger numbers of soldiers EAMU and its allies amplify their impact on the battlefield. For this reason EAMU follows the orders of the eIrish Minister(s)/Ministry of Defence to the extent indicated in sections [4.32], [4.431]. [3] EAMU is receptive to regular collaboration and communications with the command structures of other military units who share similar defence goals. EAMU is receptive to international collaboration based around reciprocation of aid during important battles in allied nations or for allied military units.

History

Eire Aonair began seriously considering the idea of founding a military unit as long ago as June of 2011. Evidence of initial planning can be found in the conclusion of a newsletter from that month[4]. It was not until September 5, 2011 that what would become the final draft of the units constitution was produced for voting, and not until September 12 that the final constitution was publicly posted. [5] [6]

Leading into September of 2011, an offer to donate an existing military unit to Eire Aonair's project was made by Bassy. Bassy's original military unit, Troid na hEireann Arm (The Fighting Irish Army), was renamed E.A.M.U. and operations were adapted in earnest to the official constitution in of the unit mid-September 2011. In honour of Bassy's generous donation, he would become the first ever Chief Command Officer of the unit. During the month of September 2011, he would be working with D-Glennon (both as Party President of Eire Aonair and as Minister of Defence at the time) and Seanan, who had both been appointed to Minister positions in the Ministry of Defence by Country President Patrick O'leary. At the same time the official logo and uniforms were created for the unit.
