The Government of Bulgaria is the executive branch headed by the President of Bulgaria. The President of Bulgaria can delegate the Prime Minister or Vice President to be the head of Government. After his/her election, the President decides what ministries should exist and their names.

The role of the Government is to exercise "general leadership of the public administration", elaborate strategies to implement the government platform, negotiate international treaties, etc. The Government of Bulgaria represents the state of Bulgaria both internally and externally and presents information to the citizens of Bulgaria.

The Government answers exclusively to the Congress of Bulgaria, and in extreme cases, may vote a motion of removal of the President, withdrawing its confidence and forcing the Government to resign.
