Introduction to the
Government of Denmark

General Information Country Denmark Established December 2007 Organisation Led by President Deputy Prime Minister

The Government of Denmark is the executive branch headed by the President of Denmark. The President of Denmark can delegate the Prime Minister or Vice President to be the head of Government. After his/her election, the President decides what ministries should exist and their names.

The government's role is to exercise "general leadership of the public administration", elaborate strategies to implement the government platform, negotiate international treaties, etc. The Government of Denmark represents the state of Denmark both internally and externally and presents information to the citizens of Denmark.

The Government answers exclusively to the Congress of Denmark, and in extreme cases, may vote a motion of removal of the President, withdrawing its confidence and forcing the Government to resign.
