The Government of Malaysia is the executive branch headed by the President of Malaysia. The President of Malaysia can delegate the Prime Minister or Vice President to be the head of Government. After presidential elections, the President decides what ministries should exist and their names.

The government's role is to exercise "general leadership of the public administration", elaborate strategies to implement the government platform, negotiate international treaties, etc. The Government of Malaysia represents the state of Malaysia both internally and externally and presents information to the citizens of Malaysia.

The Government answers exclusively to the Congress of Malaysia, and in extreme cases, may vote a motion of removal of the President, withdrawing its confidence and forcing the Government to resign.
