In an interview taken by Mobuzz.tv, Alexis Bonté talks about 'Online Dating', and mentions eRepublik for the first time as "a new, slightly crazy thing" that he and his friends had been working on for 7 months. He describes it as "a mix of Civilisation, and Risk, on Google Maps with a social-networking element". You can see the interview here.

At this point, erepublik was in private beta, but Alexis mentions they will give 100 invites to mobile users who request an invite.
