Historical overview of the Congress elections
Congress elections in the New World have been an integral part of the political module. The process of these elections has gone through several changes during its history and this is the article about the changes during its evolution.
First elections (December 2007)
Party members can nominate themselves to become Congress member. The bigger chances to become a Congressman if members are placed on top of the Party members list (Party presidents can arrange those lists). The elections are held every 1st of each month.
October 2008 change[1]
New date has been chosen for Congress elections. Instead on 1st of each month, the new elections will be held on 25th of each month.
November 2008 changes[2]
Region representation: A member of one of the top five parties in a country with at least 100 EP, has the possibility to run for a congressional seat in his/her region between the 16th and 23rd of each month. On the 24th the list of congressional candidates will be closed and the party president will have the ability to manage the position of the members on these lists.
Candidate limitation: The number of congressional seats will be determined by taking into consideration the number of regions in each country and it will vary between one and ten congressional members per region.
Link for presentations: When party member decides to run for a congressional position, they will have the ability to provide a link to a presentation for their potential voters.
May 2010
Implementation of intermediate results - From 00:00 on the 26th to 06:00 on the 26th, there is a delay during which the results for the election are displayed as intermediate results. This time is used to check votes and remove the ones that come from multi-accounts.
September 2012 changes
Major change: Starting with the Congress elections of September 25, 2012, the citizens vote for a Party instead of voting for individual Congress candidates.
- The members of the party will candidate with the same rules as before, but they will participate in the elections on the party list.
- The party president will now see all the possible candidates in a single national party list for the all the country's regions.
Date corrections:
- The party president can now choose the order of candidates on 24th of the month
- The parties that are in top 5 on every 24th of the month at 23:59:59 will be the ones able to have Congress candidates.
- The Countries that have at least 1 region on every 23rd of the month at 02:00 will held the Congress elections.
January 2016
Starting day 2,979 (16 January 2016), the election validation was extended from 6 to 24 hours. That means that new Congress members will take office on 27th at 00:00 each month instead 26th at 06:00 as it was previously.
